I could be wrong but most analytics like above that I've seen have him as one of the top defensive D in the league.

No one who knows jack about hockey would offer that to Luca fkn Sbisa.
Also, Duclair was literally just let go by Hawks after he got traded. 3,5M? WHAT?

Draft Day. Hawks trade #8
Trouba is one of the few possibilities where I would consider moving the #8OA...but that extension would make me pass if that is where he would end up. This is a guy that has never topped 40 points and played anything resembling a full season once out of his 5 in the league (he averaged 62 games a year the other 4). 6 or 7 years at 5-5.5, I would give it some serious thought. Before I would do that with Trouba that expensive to extend, I would offer the same deal to the Oilers for their choice of Klefbom or Nurse (assuming Nurse will be around Klefbom to sign). Both those guys have had some injury issue to, but cheaper with Klembom comparable to Trouba offensively and Nurse pretty good offensively for having gotten no PP time to speak of.

EDM addressing Lucic
I love Edmonton fans! They almost always wreck themselves in trades. This is another example. Klefbom and RNH are the better players.
RNH and Pacioretty
RNH is a centre which Montreal is so desperate to obtain they are over paying for young wingers and try to make them centres. You could likely get Pacioretty and a 2nd if you send RNH and take back the terrible Alzner contract as well.
Klefbom vs Alzner
Klefbom is a mobile left shot defenceman (Again something Montreal is desperate for)
Alzner is a cement footed defensive defenceman that hurts you more than he helps you.
This trade is a slam dunk for Montreal.

Tkachuk falls to Chicago
I would think that if Montreal wanted Kotkaniemi, they would just trade down and get something in return. Doesn't make sense to jump picks like this since he is projected to around pick #10. Also I highly doubt Tkachuk drops that far, but its the draft so you never know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PanarinBread72</b></div><div>First off, that's not nearly enough value to get Doughty. Secondly, you don't need to trade for Tavares' rights since he's a UFA, but if you wanted to. that trade wouldn't make any sense since Bozak and JVR are also UFAs</div></div>
Yeah, LA would want Marner oe Nylander as the centre piece of a deal coming back.

2018 - Comment Thoughts?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gk1991</b></div><div>Those are forwards. How many top pairing d-men out are 5-9 170 lbs. Torey Krug maybe but he's paired with Chara most of his career. Size does matter on defense.</div></div>
Hughes is listed at 5'10 - 174 lbs. Here are notable defensemen around the same size. Keep in mind, that Hughes will also have roughly 1-2 years to bulk up a little bit.
Tyson Barrie is 5'10 - 190 lbs.
Ryan Ellis is 5'10 - 181 lbs.
Tobias Enstrom 5'10 - 181 lbs.
Jared Spurgeon 5'9 - 168 lbs.
Torey Krug 5'9 - 185 lbs.
Kris Russell - 5'10 - 172 lbs.
Sami Vatanen 5'10 - 187 lbs.
Shane Gostisbehere 5'11 - 181 lbs.
All of these guys are currently in the midst of very successful careers. By the time Hughes hits the NHL, he is going to be roughly the same size as these guys. He's gotta bulk up another 8-10 pounds and then he's right in line with these guys. The NHL is becoming a very speed friendly game. Hughes is the epitome of where the NHL is now. He isn't coming straight to the NHL this season. He still has another season or two at Michigan before he makes the jump. He's going to be a fantastic defenseman in the NHL, and if Detroit passes up on him because he might be a little smaller than most defensemen then that's going to be a decision that they could very well regret when Hughes makes it to the NHL.
