<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Let's put aside the fact that "Koskinen balances the books" is a solution for YOUR problems, not ours, so he's not a plus for us.

You're approaching this from the point of view of what YOU want to pay for Gibson. Instead, you should look at this from the PoV of the team who's trading him away.

Gibson solves the question of who we start in goal for the majority of our games <strong>for the next six years</strong>. To put some perspective on that number, note that McDavid's and Draisaitl's contracts will have expired by then, as will every other current contract you have except for Nugent-Hopkins'. Consider that seriously for a moment.

Anaheim has three major weaknesses: (1) lack of scoring talent in general; (2) lack of quality at RW; and (3) lack of quality at RD. Trading Gibson to address just one of those problem areas is foolish because creating a hole in net to cure a hole somewhere else is just playing whack-a-mole because unlike Las Vegas or the Islanders, we don't have a guy to step right in to replace Gibson. So any trade for Gibson has to at least offer the hope of filling two of those holes. So something along the lines of Holloway or Yamamoto, Bouchard and your 2022 first would be reasonable. Now add in the value of one year of Josh Manson, which is roughly a second and a good prospect (i.e., what Ristolainen SHOULD have gotten), and you have what we think is fair value for that duo.</div></div>

So my trade pays for Gibson, so then
ultimately your ask is another second and a prospect like Lavoie, (and no 3rd coming back.....).

Definitely something both sides consider...

How about this - unless you’re sending something of significantly more value to the Canes, you shouldn’t be trying to get Necas. He’s off limits and there have been multiple reports of rumors of other teams asking for Necas and Canes declining.

Kid is 22, skates like the wind, can shoot the puck like a laser beam, makes incredible passes every night, and this year is playing a 200 foot game. Plays 17+ mins a night on one of the best teams in the league...and he has 2 years left on his ELC.

You don’t trade that away.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>If Kassian is a 4th liner, what does that make Necas? Over the past 1.5 years at 5v5:

Kassian: 75, 17-20-37
Necas: 92, 13-20-33</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>I can cherry pick numbers too if you’d like - but I’d rather not waste both of our time.

Necas just turned 22, and has 22 points in 28 games this season. Kassian has more PIM than points this season and is 32.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>He just turned 30, but I appreciate the effort. And Kassian usually has more PIM than points - that's perfectly normal given his physical style.

Look, I'm not saying Zack Kassian is better than Necas, because he clearly isn't, but to frame him as a 4th liner is hugely ignorant. In Metropolitan Division terms, he's Tom Wilson.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>Proven wrong, I apologize for getting his age wrong. Guess you have the right answers and I’m just ignorant. Have a great day.</div></div>

This is why I made this everyone. Probably should have included this in the description....

"Daily Faceoff Podcast: Carolina Hurricanes GM Don Waddell on what his club might be looking for ahead of the trade deadline,
---A right-shot defender would be something I’ve asked around about and another top-nine forward potentially. We’re also looking at all our positions from a depth standpoint.”

Ultimately we need some top 6 and figured this seemed like a logical trade...Its Barrie or Bouchard next year....
