Making splashes
Anaheim is rebuilding so they have no reason to make that trade.
It costs more than what Arizona is sending in order to acquire a young 1C in Aho and a 1st/2nd pairing RD in Hamilton. It also just doesn't make sense for either team, since the coyotes greatest need is on the wing, so why would they trade one of their only valuable assets of that position? As for the Hurricanes, Aho is way too valuable to the franchise to trade in the first place.
I think it might be an over payment for Kreider due to the age difference between him and Galchenyuk, so I would think Galchenyuk and fischer should be enough on its own.

In this scenario I wouldn't expect the ice time to be too different for the top three lines. Three 2nd lines rather than a first, second, and a third, kind of like Vegas in their first year.

Coyotes aren't close enough to being a contender that they'd make the Pittsburgh trade, especially with the basically 0% chance they sign Panarin

First of all, they're the same age. Second, Hjalmarsson is one of, if not the best defensive defenseman in the league. Petry probably has more value, but it's not as much as the 14th overall pick.

Thread:
Arizona Coyotes signed Nick Schmaltz (7 Years / $5,850,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brian2016</b></div><div>I don't get it at all. Schmaltz doesn't have a ton of leverage here and he still got big money. His offensive numbers were likely inflated from playing alongside Kane in CHI. I'd much rather have Drouin at $5.5M and Larkin is only $250k higher at $6.1M AAV and he's far superior. I thought Schmaltz would sign for around $4.5M AAV on a six year deal. This is an overpay, in my opinion. Does ARI really see him as a potential #1 Center scoring 70+ points on a regular basis? I don't.
Just for the recored, Nylander received about $1.5M AAV more than he should've too. But that was a unique experience. ARI isn't on the clock here. They could've held out.</div></div>
I would stand to argue that playing with Kane did very little to inflate his numbers based on what other Hawks fans have told me. They said the reason he never shot the puck, which is what made everyone the angriest was because he felt too much pressure to pass it to Kane rather than to trust himself to score. In addition to that, we saw in his brief stint with the Coyotes he had 14 points in 17 games, made Keller play better, and increased our powerplay% by around 4%, obviously all without Kane.
Secondly, you say you don't see him being a number one Center, and I agree with you, but he's not even making #1 center money now, much less 3-4 years down the line with the cap likely continuing to rise. I know there are bargain contracts, but those shouldn't be the baseline for comparisons. I think it's a fair deal where both sides are getting reasonable return.
Sure, there's a risk factor with this deal, but that's how you get bargain contracts in the first place, and Arizona has the cap space and the urgency to take some risks.

Following the Emil Pettersson trade
The value between these two might be somewhat close, but I think purely because Schnarr is a 6'3 right shot center they'd most likely not trade him unless it's something they 100% can not refuse

Carlson with room for Matthews + Marner extensions
Seeing as to how Draisaitl signed for 8.5M and Evander Kane for 7M, Matthews probably ends up in the 9-10 Million range. Considering Ron Hainsey's contract ending, there would be ~8.5 Million in cap left to sign Marner and Kapanen (Who I think most people expect to make a solid jump this year). If Kane gets 7M, Marner most likely does not get less, so you really have to hope that Kapanen has a **** year for this to work out. Even if that happens, the next year you'll have to worry about resigning Johnsson (Who's getting first line points with matthews) along with Travis Dermott.
Even after all that, I doubt Dallas would retain salary since they need to resign Seguin soon

Thread:
Why not this?
The reason Veleno was expected to go first overall the past few years was because he was granted exceptional player status and joined the CHL a year early. The reason he's fallen since then is because his increase in production has been very slow, only getting a little bit better every year as opposed to other players who've taken big steps in their production.

Domi's not a center, and Drouin really shouldn't be playing center.
One problem I have is playing Gauthier on 4th line. That just seems like a great way to make sure he doesn't develop into a top 6 player

Philly absolutely does not take that trade. It's not like they're lacking on forward depth either, so they wouldn't give away their franchise defenseman and a high-ish pick to get Zadina*
