I like Mikheyev a lot, but I might consider him 3rd tier and would likely play a middle 6 role instead of a top 6</div></div>
No complaint from me if that ends up happening with Burakovsky. With Mikheyev the question is how well he plays on a 2nd line when he's not buried lower because of guys above him. My hope for him is that he'd take a nice step forward offensively if given the chance. More ice time, power play time, offensively minded line mates, etc. Either way he's kind of backup plan of sorts.

While I might not agree with all of these moves, this post shows some really intelligent imagination. Nicely done!

This season. Ignoring that the savings drop to 1.3M next season and then you get a cap hit of 1M for two more years beyond the contract term. Sure that league cap is going to go up to counter act that year 3 and 4 number but I'm still not convinced a Kassian buyout is the smartest idea.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pattymelt47</b></div><div>I just figured that's what it would take to get a guy like Bura in Anaheim with the state of their rebuild and their state tax situation.
I probably overpaid, but it's a trade to a division rival so I did what it would likely take to get the guy (Yamo).</div></div>
The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Kassian on the fourth line, but I don't like the overall structure of that trade. Just not a big fan of Yamo I guess.
Burakovsky would be a great add, but I just doubt that a guy from the 2nd tier of free agents is going to be willing to sign in Anaheim even for a boat load of money. I've turned my eye more towards Mikheyev for that roster spot. He's more of a 3rd tier option so cheaper and less in demand (maybe?).

Yeah, I'm just curious to see the direction the GMPV goes in...*IF* he decides to move Gibby (I really don't think it's a thing), then it would likely signal 1 more year of collecting assets.

If all goes well, I could see a Dahlin 3X6 (maybe a little less). If he takes off into the stratosphere this year, we're looking at an 8-year deal in the high 6's (maybe 6.75, even 7)</div></div>
Probably best to lock Zegras, Terry, and Drysdale asap before they take off. I'm guessing Zegras could get the Ana version of the Hughes signing and Terry would come in under by a bit.
Looks like 8.5m is close enough to 8m in NJ

Ngl this would be a fun team to watch. Feel like Forsberg gets paid a little more but that’s obviously not a problem for the Ducks

It just seems like Philly has no intention of rebuilding and could use the $7 million in cap space from JVR's contract in free agency (or trades). With Ellis and Risto, it doesn't look like Attard will see top 4 minutes for a few years, in Anaheim he would get 20 mins a night next to Fowler.</div></div>
Yeah pretty reasonable. God I hate that Risto signing

Rakell And Manson Return
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pattymelt47</b></div><div>If Manson is only getting 2 years, he'll likely require a much higher AAV
The Henrique deal is a tough one. Pitt would have to be very desperate to take on his contract, and they'd still be giving up a lot. Plus, from a Ducks perspective, Terry played his best when on a line with Henrique and this trade would leave the Ducks very young at center with little to no insurance.
Why not bring back Elvenes?</div></div>
Elvenes already told the Ducks he was leaving and that he would be playing overseas.

Rakell And Manson Return
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>Manson, Marchment, Bura are all nice adds I like while Rakell, ZAR, and the Gardiner trade are no thank yous to me
I think I may rather try getting a Brock Boeser possibly to play where Rakell is
Kapanen is making too much as well</div></div>
ZAR is an elite defensive forward who could be detrimental to the Ducks penalty kill going forward. I think re-signing him is pretty realistic and $2.3 million AAV for 4 years is a steal. The Gardiner trade essentially gives the Ducks defenseman in Ethan Bear who is still pretty young and a free 2nd for one year of Jake Gardiner, and older dman in Kevin Shattenkirk who might not even play well this coming season, and an injury risk Max Jones who’s more of a liability at this point. I honestly don’t know how the Ducks say no to a trade like this if it’s offered to them unless more can be added going the Ducks way. As for Rakell, that I can agree could not happen at all, but I don’t think bringing him back would be terrible. He’s familiar with the system, he still has plenty of good years left, and it just feels like a direction that Verbeek would want to go if presented to him. As for Kapanen, I really don’t know what a good number for him is but I’m sure he’ll make at least a little bit more than his last contract regardless.

Ducks 2022-23 Opening Night Lineup
That defense is way too young (bad). Vaakanainen should get paid about 1M to play on the third pair. Helleson for sure plays the whole year in the AHL. Mahura I hope plays most of the year in the AHL because he's not an NHL defenseman (but does provide decent depth).
Fowler - A RHD we don't have
A LHD we don't have - Drysdale
Vaakanainen - Shattenkirk

Getting better defensively
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pattymelt47</b></div><div>I mentioned Sanheim would be coming with a 6 year extension.
As for 3C, that’s where I’d prefer McTavish to play. He isn’t ready for 2C (maybe he is) and I don’t want him on the wing.
Also, this lineup is more about depth than anything. Depth and versatility (a lot of guys can play multiple positions). I want to be done with the Robinsons and Meyhews of the world.</div></div>
Gotcha, that’s a reasonable POV. I think the main one I’d push back on is Roy. I’d rather keep the 2nd/5th than add Roy when I don’t picture him as part of the future of the club with Z, McTavish, and Lund down the middle. You could accomplish the same thing with Henrique at 2C

Fair value for taking Faksa, but I think the front office still likes him. You’d have to swap him and Lund. He doesn’t play wing

Rather just keep Studnicka and see how he does under a new coach. Steel doesn't really move the needle for Boston and just give them more of what they already have.
