Honestly, PIT would be lucky to get anything back in that trade. That Rakell contract is awful, and I'm not even sure that package pays for dumping him. Believe it or not, Anderson has a fair amount of value. Enty and Soderblom probably do too, to a lesser extent. Real scouts and GM's aren't going to look at Soderblom's first year in the NHL on a god awful injury plagued team and say "that guy is worthless", and CHI shouldn't either. Also, Entwistle could actually be a GREAT bottom 6 forward on a contender, if utilized correctly.

Getting in Laine

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>He's scored at a .8 PPG clip on a **** CBJ team with no C, and has lost time largely due to fluke injuries and a PAP stay (if that's what you want to call "taken time off").
He's not a play-driver, but he's still got a high-end offensive toolbox that, taking a guess here, will do very well on a top-line with Bedard. We're not talking about some B6 scrub.
He's got real value - probably more than non-CBJ posters here realize, even if its not as much as some CBJ posters think.</div></div>
I agree this trade proposal is bad for CBJ. But zero chance the Hawks are giving up a 1st in any Laine deal and doubtful the Hawks would be in on him if CBJ is looking to recoup "full value", whatever that might be.

Laine isnt worth a late round first, especially not from the Hawks at this point in the rebuild. He is averaging 35 points a year, has taken time off, been injured, and hasnt driven a line since he was in Winnipeg.

Tough choices
Easy choice for the Hawks. They pass. Murphy half retained for two years and the 2nd as a base for the deal, fine. But the 3rd piece isn't a 1st. Way too much for Necas.

The Washington Capitals (soon to be Potomac Yard Capitals) are taking it private for themselves, not at request of the league.

Draft trades open up cap space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>We aren't trading McTavish for Nylander. Nylander is clearly the better player, but exchanging them doesn't move Anaheim that far ahead -- we now have a hole at C instead of at RW.
We certainly aren't trading Gibson for Kampf.
No one with the IQ of a salamander would trade pick #35 for Nick Robertson.</div></div>
Since Robertson is the size of a Salamander other Salamanders may want to do that deal
Those UFA's $. is that from some Toronto radio show? Everyone gets 1.5M-2M more. Guentzel maybe 3M more

Drop Murphy and the hawks probably do it assuming we can't work a draft up to the 8-12 range at the draft

No from Chicago. First, If that is asking price then they skip Necas and try for Guentzel in FA. Second I think they want to use that pick for themselves and load up on prospects. Third, they need Murphy. He is an assistant captain and a rock on D. He is only 1 of 2 NHL ready RDs on the team. Trading Murphy would be a huge hole.
