That Chicago trade is one of the dumbest things I've seen on these boards and that's saying something. They aren't upgrading 3 picks for Toronto for nothing.

No thanks on the Kakko deal. Chicago has enough bottom 6 players. And paying him over $4m/year? Yikes.

25-26 Big Splash
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>Let me explain myself poster formerly known as Garak.
Here is a list of the FA I put into groupings.
<strong>Too old to sign/don't fit in with Hawks</strong>: John Tavares, Jamie Benn, Nicklas Backstrom, Brent Burns (will be 40), Claude Giroux, Jeff Petry, TJ Oshie, Cam Atkinson, Robin Lehner, Ryan Suter (40)
<strong>Will be resigned by their own team</strong>: Marner (whoever he is traded to), Rantanen, Crosby, Draisitl, Hedman, Ekblad, Provorov, Boeser, Marchand, Sheshterkin, Adin Hill, Shea Theodore, Noah Dobson, Evan Bouchard, K'Andre Miller, Bowen Byrum, maybe Konecny Jake Oettinger.
<strong>Players who just aren't good anymore</strong>: Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nate Schmidt, Yanni Gourde, Cal Petersen, Ville Husso, Christian Dvorak, AA, Robby Fabbri, Jake McCabe, Adam Larsson, Alex Iafallo, Jake Allen, Brandon Tanev, Vitek Vanecek, Cody Ceci, Joel Armia, Radek Faksa.
<strong>Potential fits for Hawks</strong>: *caveat is some of these may be resigned by their own team depending on cap situation* Ryan Johansen, Dmitry Orlov, Taylor Hall, Brock Nelson, Nikolah Ehlers, Neal Pionk, Andrew Mangiapane, Pavel Buchnevich, Esa Lindell, Andrei Kuzmenko, Travis Konecny, Jaccob Slavin, Kyle Palmeiri, Reilly Smith, Mikael Granlund, Jakob Chychrun, Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe, Frank Vatrano, Alex Kerfoot, Gustav Nyquist, Yegor Sharangovich, Gabe Vilardi.
This is 60+ players.
That said, I do see that there are some very nice names on the list. But there aren't really many big fish and the Hawks are 1 of 32 teams who will also be going after these players. Some of the players above also don't necessarily fit (like many of the goalies or LD). Some of them will be super expensive (Bennett, Konecny). So that's where I was coming from. If you look at that list and you think there are some great names and game changers there then I respect that.</div></div>
Taylor Hall is on that list? I hope Chicago goes out and signs him. He would be a good fit next to Bedard in the short term.

</div></div>
Agreed. Kakko just finished his 5th season in the NHL. He is what he is at this point.

Those are easily fixable. Just change them to #59 Pretzel jerseys and people will just think you're a huge fan of pretzels.

Same. Never had a problem with Vosters. He improved quite a bit since he started too.

NY State Of Mind
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GM69</b></div><div>I forgot 120 point players grow on trees. Silly me :tearsofjoy
In that case you can have every player on the rangers and we will just grow our own **eye roll**.
Also, If you think what I posted is delusional you should comment on the original trade post of Taylor Hall, an 7th pairing defenseman (at his peak potential), a 4th liner and two 4th rounders for Panarin & Trouba. Trouba alone could get that package and that's telling.</div></div>
You forget Panarin is almost 33 and the last thing a rebuilding team needs are expensive players moving out of their prime. No team like Chicago is giving up a 2OA or a recent top 10 pick for that.
Trouba is a borderline cap dump at this point. OP's trade is bad but let's not act like Trouba is worth a ton.

He's got a 15 team NTC and is due $11m+ in salary over the next 3 years. I will say it again, two 5ths is not going to entice any team to take him.
