Is he the only player in NHL history to have a cold streak? Doesn't seem as though, so looks like your only talking point is irrelevant

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>This is typical CapFriendly crap post.
It's these kind of ideas that cost teams later.
Look at the Penguins since this is the team being traded too.
McCann was ice cold for them for a long time. He couldn't buy a goal. They eventually let him out to SEA.....where he exploded.
Now they look back at it and go, how dumb was that.
It's a real bad move to move a guy who has flashes of talent when they are having a bad spell. He's only 23 he'll bounce out of it. No need to let him go for nothing.
It's better to be patient and let him work through it.</div></div>
McCann played at a 27 goal/61 point pace in his last season with the Pens while also providing a very strong 2 way game. If Hextall wasn't the worst GM in franchise history, he'd still be with the Pens and probably playing very well

No he's not lol. Eller and Kotkaniemi are basically the same player. Eller does a better job in his role for half the cap hit and isn't signed for 7 more years.

Kotkaniemi is more likely to have negative value as opposed to being worth a 2nd round pick.

So the team gets older and worse, and also loses a vital 1st round pick in the process?

Changing the focus
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Again, I find that hard to believe. Guys like Travis Dermott in Arizona, Victor Mete is an option who's not playing in Philly, Calle Rosen in St Louis, etc. Hell, you ar even trading away one in the same boat in POJ.</div></div>
The Pens need a guy that can at the very least tread water in top 4 minutes. POJ has shown he can't do that and I'm not confident that guys like Mete, Dermott, and Rosen can do that either. Given where this team is, they can't afford to go through a trial and error process to see who fits.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Kind of weird specifying a left handed defenseman then trading for a righty. When we are talking about low value guys like this, I've got to assume they can find someone who shoots left.</div></div>
There's nobody available that is cheap in terms of acquisition cost and carries a small enough cap hit to work for the Pens. It's going to require an unorthodox solution.

None of the players coming to PIT here are worth anything. So it really comes down to 2 FRPs for Guentzel and Pettersson, which isn't even worth entertaining.

Bahl is not worth a 2nd. Please.
And Pettersson isn't a pending UFA, Toffoli is, so your 2nd point is irrelevant.

Oilers Upgrade
I would imagine it takes at least a 2nd round pick just to dump Ceci's contract.
Moving outside of that, Pickard is nothing, Guentzel is worth way more than just a 1st, and the Pens would be better off keeping Nedeljkovic instead of trading him just because.
