Not unfair, but I'm betting on them making some changes, likely with Hronek out the door.

I also wonder if it's a move too similar to Bishop's (ofc different context where it's LTIR vs still playing) where there's just a 6th or 7th moved with Carter. Either way I'm willing to pay a bit if it gets us Tro.

He can, but shouldn't be viewed as a top option for that by any means. In regards to Carter, I think that he's regarded highly enough someone could bite.

Chances are, his job is to generate clicks, or listens, or follows. To do that, he comes up with crackpot theories.
Normally a better course of action is logic:
Debrusk is capable of being a really good player, he’s young, and just had a down year during a shortened pandemic season without a real off season and no pre season.
His value is lower than its ever been.
That sound like a trade to you?</div></div>
Valid, and again, it is all pure speculation, and speculation I have chosen to follow for the purposes of this mock. And sometimes, those trades are made. Depends on faith within the locker room from Sweeney and Cassidy, something neither you or I truly know. Teams have made similar mistakes before..

Wants to be home, hates Minnesota, or just feels alienated. It isn't what I would do, but when you leave home as a kid, its not unrealistic to be homesick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>The pick doesn't really do anything to help Boston win now though. Also the "seems clear DeBrusk is heading somewhere else" is a narrative thrown out by other fanbases. A down year plus a guy whose name rumored to be available and it turns into "he's fallen out of favor in Boston" or "Boston is looking to move DeBrusk" and that's simply isn't the case. Could they move him? sure and if there is a deal that makes them better they'll do it, but they're not reaching out to other teams trying to move him. His value is at an all time low and he's worth more to Boston than what they most likely get on the market. If things continue to go down hill, his value can't get any lower than it is already.</div></div>
One report is from Dennis Bernstein, who called him a probable "Goner". An NHL scout agreed he was definitely "out there", but of course that is far less committal. Nothing is for sure with rumors in this league, but he was even scratched at various points from what I can remember. The interest is definitely POSSIBLE, but I kind of took it as true for the purposes of this, since every piece of a armchair GM is purely speculation. And honestly, I could see them just turning around and flipping it for say.. Conor Garland?

Ya know what? Very valid point. Saves Vegas from needing Halak. I agree, if I were to fix it that dump would be there.

First round picks inherently have less value to many teams this year, since the draft is more of a crapshoot than ever before. Typically, I'd agree, but the difference between the first and second is less this year than it ever has been. A normal year, Vegas nets more.

Couple thing worth noting: The 2nd is NJ, which inherently makes it higher value than if it were VGK's own. The 2nd fourth may have been too much, but seems clear DeBrusk is heading somewhere else, and that Boston doesn't see an incredible future with him, whether that is right or wrong. If Boston isn't careful, this could definitely limit their potential return. But can definitely see the frustration on this trade.

Full Rebuild
Let's go over this piece by piece:
Malkin deal never goes through. NO way we retain and if we do, we get WAY more then that. Even with no retention, we get better value then that.
Rust deal isn't TOO far off, slight overpay although believable.
Don't think hawks make the Strome deal, though as a Pens fan don't hate it.
Honka deal fine, but why when we are rebuilding? For a guy Dallas isn't that high on? Rather swap a depth guy like Rodrigues.
Dumbo deal feels slightly weird, and no need for Comrie. Probably able to scrape a 1st outta a team like Tampa or Florida or Toronto.
Liljigren isn't so valuable that the deal looks like that, especially with Tangers performance this season. Not far though.

Doubt they happen but like em. Murray probably gets more, Honka I can see. Don't like the idea of giving up assets for TJ, when we know TB is desperate. Milk em for all you can get, take in a 2nd or 3rd in the offseason.

Idk what is worse.. thinking we get THAT for Ceci or thinking we package McCann with Mathy and ruin our value. He can get us a 2nd if we make a good move, and if we resetting keep Mathy as depth (he's been an okay 5/6) and get assets.
And the Ceci deal? Just no

I mean, the narrative around Rantanen is far better then Marner, whether or not that's fair. Kaprisov is regarded as one of the best outside the NHL and is young.. hype is real. And Prov is better, then some above him, but fit is a fickle thing.

I definitely agree McAvoy over Sergachev, but I just don't feel like the Oilers (then or now) make the right pick there.
As far As Laine vs Tkachuk, the thing is, goal scorers are so highly valued, that even if he hasn't entirely developed, can you really convince Winnipeg to pass on him.. I don't think so.
