Plus its Barkovs team and malkin wants to be "the guy". hubbs had a great year and is 25 and under a great contract. sure get malkin but trade trocheck not hubbs</div></div>
Trocheck has a very valuable contract and would help if FLA signs Panarin. Malkin doesn't want to be the guy. Has said so multiple times and why he has never requested a trade or threatened to go back to Russia. He likes being a #2 he is just stubborn in the way he plays. Would be a great fit in FLA behind Barkov. Including Kessel in with the trade would be interesting. Not sure Pens would trade those two as a combo but the return in this trade is good.

I was looking to move salary. Burakovsky is on the block and would bring scoring depth so flames could definitely roll three lines come playoffs.

Wow. I can't believe how some people respond to these MOCK GM trades. Everyone who responded is probably a millennial who takes everything way to serious. Sorry for using this site for fun. I didn't know this site was for ACTUAL general manager transactions that we are suppose to simulate.

kessel trade
I think the only thing that might change is the robby fabbri part. he misses way to many games due to injury and a guy like Schenn who has posted 26,25&28 goals in the past 3 seasons would be a nice LW/C to play on the top 2 lines. Maybe a a guy like Rust has to be tossed in.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>biglite351</b></div><div>Besides getting a RHD and getting a Staal in a Pens jersey (which a lot of fans seem to think is a necessity), how does this trade make the Pens "better"? How does this trade not make the Pens "worse"?</div></div>
well Staal is a HOFer and their 2nd leading scorer since he arrived in Minnesota. 161 points in 191 games (80 goals) dont think Brassard is going to reach that mark.
Maata is a great defender, smart and young but slow. GMJR signed Oleksiak and Johnson and have Riikola playing solid. Be good to get a RH veteran guy s who has averaged over 30 pts on the blue line the past 4 seasons.
Niederreiter played himself into a contact a couple seasons back with 25 goals and 57 points. no where close to the Kessel level but need to get a RW back in return.
I am not for trading Kessel, but if he is getting shopped I do feel like playing in Minnesota would be a preference.

Zuccs is not worth a 1st. Skinner went a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th on an expiring contract. Feel like his time in NY is done and no way a team is giving up a 1st for him. He is 31 and highest goal (26) total was 3 years ago.

Imagine If The Penguins Could Actually Draft
Lots of teams pass over those players and you could do that for any draft year. Players develop and grow differently in organizations. Some work out some don't. 2011 we could have taken Kucherov in the 2nd, or trocheck was available or gaudreau was drafted in the 4th round.

Trocheck would be the 4th C . even if he plays RW he is still on the 4th line .</div></div>
Jarry "could" be a starter but he isnt going to sit behind Murray his whole career especially if Pens re-sign Murray to a monster contract. Trocheck is 25!!! He is older than 3 forwards on our team. Simon, Sprong and Guenztel. When was the last time a 1st round draft made the opening day roster on offense. It will be 3 years before they make an impact and Sid and Geno and in the win now stage. Their windows are closing in three years. Plus Sprong not fitting in with Sullys plans. FLA has ton a talent and Trocheck probably their 2nd best player behind Barkov. Thats why a 1st rounder not a 2nd. Unbelievable talent and great cap hit for 4seasons for a 1st line winger or center after brass leaves next year.

Sully hasnt found a fit for crosby on he right wing. Crosby doesnt like Horny up there and as much as Rust is a playoff performer he doesnt fit on the first line. Sprong might but Sully not giving him a chance.

Trouba stats 328 games 34 goals 97 assists. Maata 304 games 24 goals and 69 assists. Obviously Trouba brings more offensive production but they couldn't sign him to a long term deal last off-season and the Jets have a lot of offensive players to pay next year. And the past two years, his name is always comes up the rumor mills. Maybe Meyers gets the boot and not Trouba. The jets also need some right handed right wingers and Sprong has the size and talent to be a 20 goal scorer for the Jets 3rd line. I probably over valued he trade by throwing in the 3rd rd pick but was banking on Jets going to desperate to have a legit 2nd pairing guy in maata locked in for another 3 year at $4m and the potential in Sprong and not over pay Trouba and Meyers.

dont disagree but pens defensive play was very suspect last year. Even the year prior with the cup win, our defense was not that solid. while maata has a higher ceiling and can bring that offense play, burners on the outside toasts him every time. The speed of the game is picking up every year and the Pens need Skaters. Also Kesler and Perry trending down they would look for some new offensive talent like Brassard and Sprong which could look to give a 1st round for.

this is good. One player people don't appreciate is Jordan Eberle. Has played on way worse teams than Oshie and has more goals and points over the last five seasons thank him. But similar type players, interchangeable. Also I think you have to move Barzal in at center over Backstrom.
Also Provorov is ahead of Gostisbehere.

Overall I like the listing...
Also not sure if you are listing per this past year or how overall career bc how is Kris Letang not on this list... he had 51 points and while he was a -9, OEL was a -27, EK was a -25 and yes they were on bad teams so lets look at Burns was a -18. He is definitely a top 10 right-sided defense man.

Scheifele is a good centerman but dont think he is top 10 in the league.
Wheeler is a consistent player but with seasons of 28,26,26,26,23 in his last five. He probably should replace E. Kane on the list.

Honesty from Leafs fan to Blues fans and other Leafs fans..
You are right but look after this year St. Louis has to resign 6 forwards and 4 defensemen. Not saying its a good idea but you can't say its not possible. Leafs need a solid dman and shouldn't be worried about draft picks for the next 4 to 5 seasons if they can lock everyone down so they can afford to throw in draft picks to entice a trade.

3-Way
This is just bad business, If the Pens take Karlsson and keep Letang. That would be $19mil down the right side of the defense. That is not allocating your cap very well. Plus they need money to resign Guentzel and find a new 3rd line center. I dont see Brassard or Sheahan being resigned after this year.

Also, I seriously doubt Theodore is getting moved after the season he is about to have, and especially not for Spurgeon.</div></div>
The Penguins love players that can play center and wing and they gain cap room. Vegas gets Kessel an elite scorer that is known to free lance a bit which Gallant lets his players go and play their game. I think the tatar trade didn't plan as they hoped, seeing that he wasn't even an everyday player after arriving there. The Spurgeon trade was trying to get a right hand shot and not having to pay 11mil a year for karlsson.

A year after 3 way trade
just want to point this out, i know DB has been a top line guy but for what the pens are looking for in a 3rd line center we aren't paying 5 mil for that. Didn't pay Staal so they traded him, didn't want to pay bonino so they let him walk. If DB ends the 18-19 season 25 goals and 60 points they will pay him. If not expect a new 3rd line center.

you don' like me trading Maata but you traded Jarry and 1st rounder for a player playing on his last year of a contract and will definitely be searching big money next season. Maata is very good but he is slow and has shown a lot weakness in the transition game.
