Assuming Tatar won't be back habs can sign Danault to a very good contract. We have Evans/Poehling that could take the spot but Danault's strenght is to play against top lines, and we don't have any prospect ready for that yet.
Edit : I think Poehling might be more suit to take Tatar's spot than shutdown C spot.

And I would argue it is too soon (23 y.o., less than 100 games) to say that Kylington wont reach his top 4 potential.
And "reaching the floor" argument doesn't mean anything if you dont offer a pick for Giordano. Seattle will have plenty of UFAs to spend money on or teams willing to pay for a capdump.
Good talk ;)

I think Sean Monahan makes more sense. Won't cost nearly as much, and he fits the role Ottawa is supposedly looking to fill. I think something in the ball park of White + two 2nds should get it done. Maybe it's a guy like Jarventie or Thomson instead of one of the 2nds if they'd prefer a prospect.

An Eichel Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhatRas</b></div><div>To the point of signing Tkachuk, if he has a shot at 9 million next year I think it would be tough to convince him to sign for less but I get your point. That's awesome about Reinhart, I have always liked him as a player and a guy I would be over the moon to see on the Flames.</div></div>
Yeah I can see why he would take 1 year at 9 million and run to free agency... but he wasn't worth it this season and if he has a similar production season next year then he's looking at like 5 million in free agency like Hall will be next year... Getting 7.5 x 5 right now is the safe bet for him and it only takes him to 29 where he can cash in on another deal wherever he wants at that time. I take 7.5 x 5 over 9 x 1 every day of the week and twice on Sunday when I'm coming off a down year.

An Eichel Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhatRas</b></div><div>I think there would be a younger D man in that trade than Tanev, probably one of Andersson or VAlimaki. Second part is that Buffalo does not get a C in return, from what I have read Reinhart just doesn't cut it. Third you would have to pay Tkachuk 9 million a year because of his qualifying offer.</div></div>
I would agree but Tanev is one of the top 2 D on Calgary. I would be fine with a top pair D. Reinhart absolutely does cut it. The people that say he doesn't are off their rockers. 16 games at C this season he has 10 goals and 15 points. He's also played well defensively. Lastly, you only have to pay him that much if it goes to qualification. He can sign for anything at anytime after July 27th this year when the next "season" starts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhatRas</b></div><div>I don't disagree that it's fairly close with the contract giving the edge to Tuch likely. The big reason I tried to include Smith in the earlier deal is that this goes the opposite direction in terms of helping VEgas with their cap situation. I could potentially see Calgary retaining on Monahan with it only being 2 years left on the deal.</div></div>
I don't think Vegas' cap situation is that bad. I paid a luxury 6th dman 2m$ and I kept Fleury. It could even be possible to bring back Martinez and trade for Monahan if Fleury is dealt

Yeah having tuch and especially under that contract allows them to move Smith but they can't move both. Atleadt not for Monahan, maybe if it was a bigger prize.

Cheers. I get that you guys are tired of the Eichel trades, but I feel like making a tangible effort to let the (whoever it is) OP of a trade know why it doesn't make sense is far more valuable than making a massive troll post because you get butt hurt.
Realistically, the original post probably wasn't meant as a troll. The value was certainly off, but if you look at the comments, the OP actually acknowledges that he just wanted to see what it might look like. No need for anyone to lose their friggin' minds.

Flames Fans Will Be Disappointed with Slow Off Season
The Sens aren't looking to be in a perpetual rebuild. The whole point of drafting and hoarding prospects is to turn them into impact NHL players, and that's finally what the Drake has become. Short of trading for Jack Eichel (which Ottawa should not do) there's no world where the Sens trade Batherson.
Also even from a value perspective I don't think it's fair. Maybe for a guy who is 26 and has plateaud as a 25ish, 50ish point guy (which is roughly what Drake is on pace for), that would be fair value. Drake is still only 22 (albeit only for another 12 hours) and I feel confident that he's still got a good amount to grow. I think he be a guy who regularly scores 30 goals, and 60+ points as a bonafide 1st line RW. He's just not a guy you give up on.

Flames are in desperate need of gamebreaking talent at RW. Chaz Lucius- who I think can become a top line NHL talent - or Simon Robertsson would be solid picks at this spot in this mock draft.
I love Cossa for the Oilers big time but I think Dustin Wolf will be groomed to takeover for Markstrom down the road.

Seems like a year too long on Tatar. The money is ok though.
The budget isnt there for a 3C that Expensive. I think they can get a good one for 2 million and then Mcleod grows into 3C in a couple years.
Edmonton won't spend a first rounder to move Neal. I think the budget works if you can buy neal out over 3 years or bury him for 1 then buy him out.
