Flames side of another trade here
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cgy_flame_fan</b></div><div>really?, then u dont have a deal imo</div></div>
That is fine. NYR have a goal imo of moving some RFAs or at least 1 RFA in a deal maybe with the Car first to move up into the teens to take a Center. Truthfully, the C depth is weak and not sure if they view Chytil long term as a W or C... they still don’t have their future 2C unless it is Strome, but also have to realize Mika is about to get a $10m or so contract so they have a few years if he stays healthy to see if he’s worth that $.

Simple Moves
I understand CK now got the extension he wanted and it’s 7 years, but Bowers isn’t the C I want. Also, for this to work Haula must remain a 40 pt player and he’s only had 2 seasons above 30 points. Granted a short year and injury the year before, but he’s turning the wrong side of 30 next season. $4M is not a bad move and neither is 3 years if that pans out. It is also a move that reflects on Chytil. If CK wouldn’t go to EDM in a possible RNH swap, I’d rather a guy like Jost or if he’d go to STL a Zach Sanford type of player 1 year left and a soon to be 26 year old winger who can just take CK spot maybe not as good but w/ Lafreniere, don’t need a future 3LW at $6.5M

They can’t unless Calgary retains, but NYR don’t need Gaudreau or Lucic, they need a C and a LW.

Very interesting trade. We all do forget that Kravtsov was Russia’s top C in the WJC I believe while playing with a torn tricep. I don’t know yet if they should write him off as a C.

I 100% don’t see him being moved at the draft before his NMC would kick in, but also, would not expect CK to be happy if he is on line 3 in a year or 2 and would waive the NMC. At trade deadline, nobody expected this obviously.

Bunch of moves
Question is this... car prob declines but Jake Bean is being blocked so CAR does need to move a Dman and NYR Need a top 4 LHD. Haydn Fluery OR Gardiner is who NYR should go for. I also don’t think giving CAR another D prospect would make much sense for them.
Don’t see Anaheim moving 6 especially for Trouba who’s making $8M. I also do think NYR should move ADA if possible as I personally think Trouba is a much better dman. Goligoski is a very good stop gap for Nils and it’s just 1 year, love that move. I do think Stepan is a shadow of what he used to be as he’s now a 30-35 point player, but it’s worth a shot IF management is ready to give Chytil a final chance to prove he can be a 2C on this team before ultimately moving on from him or permanently making him a winger.

Even if he is traded and goes to an arbiter, he would get that contract elsewhere so that I guess lowers value. Both Strome and GMs know the wise move for both parties is a 3-4 year deal in $5M range, maybe $6M range

Hajek and two 2nd rounders will NOT get Dunn from STL, thats ridiculous.
I refuse to pay OTT a 2nd rounder to take Smiths contract off the books, rather bury him in the minors.
Strome's value is more of a 4th rounder at best, no one is paying for stats inflated by Panarin.
I have no idea what that MTL trade is about.
So... in short, none of the trades make any sense.</div></div>
The year Strome was traded to NYR, was on pace for 42 pts... Panarin came so his stats became on pace for 70ish in a shortened season. Many teams 2C are 40 point guys. Strome has trade value, don’t know what but definitely more then just a 4.

Karlsson isn’t a massive upgrade over Strome but he has a good contract...Strome was just on pace for 70, yes he has Panarin on his wing but WK has Stone and Patches or Marchesseault and Smith. I’m sure he’d get to 70s here with Panarin but not a HUGE upgrade imo.

Gave AG a little bit too much. That should be a 3 year deal. $2.5M should be a 2 year deal... would save NYR some cap as well. Just my opinion too much also for TDA, this 10000% blocks Nils lundkvist and Kempny blocks Miller. Nils is staying over seas 1 more year at least we know this but wouldn’t be able to re-sign Fox. Can’t pay $6,$8,$5.25,$5.25(Fox) Lindgren will need a raise also. Gotta move TDA now

And that’s the point. You are not getting Lafreniere without a serious over pay. Rangers need a legit 2C. To move down via trade out of the top 10, they need too much to make the deal worth it.

It’s so beautiful to be able to say that is not enough for Lafreniere. Rangers need a top 6 C, a top 4 LHD, and possibly a solid winger.
Suzuki, Caufield, the 1st rounder and Romanov if he’s the top LHD prospect or top 2 LHD prospect that MTL has. Has to be an overpay for a potential generational prospect.

I do agree the price to acquire Nuge seems high, but I don’t think Edmonton would consider doing so unless it was an overpay. And they would probably value Chytil over Strome.</div></div>
Of course they’d value Chytil over Strome, but feel like Buch who just was on pace for 55 pts and is a young top 6 RW would help EDM a lot as he gives McD a player who has top line experience and is only getting better. McD doesn’t have great wingers that’s why I think Buch helps them a lot, a 2020 later 1 can help them and Strome is good enough to be 3C or 2nd line RW with Draisaitl.

I also don’t think THAT much has to go to EDM for RNH. Feel like that package should get JP as well who they view extremely high. I’d do Buch, Strome, CAR 1 for JP and RNH. If they intend on trading Buch. Hoffman is really good just won’t be easy to fit him in. If strome is not here and his near $5m cap hit, Hoffman could make more sense.

Igor is so much better than AG it’s not even close. AG is a good backup who can possibly win a 50/32 split. And it’s not a knock on him he clearly is an NHL caliber goalie which means one of the best in the world.

Strome would need a new deal, while Monahan is way better and under a nice contract for a 1C
Deangelo has a long way to go IMO to be what Hanifan is now. plus the headache of being an RFA
I like the idea of Georgiev and maybe a deal can be made on the side, but the rangers need him if/when Lundqvist retires
draft picks are nice, but the flames are competing now</div></div>
Rangers HAVE Wall, Huska, Lindbom was drafted round 2... they have goalies. Igor potentially gets a 6X6 type of deal soon. They don’t need to continuously pay $9M on goalies as AG will get in the 3X3 range or 4X3.5 range if elsewhere...It’s too much on goaltending in the cap era, need those sub $1M backups while you can.

Respectully, why? NYR need a top 4 LHD and have an abundance of RHD. NYR need a 2 C and Monahan is a 1C. Strome had good chemistry with Panarin yes but he’s 18 months younger and had 8 pts in 10 playoff games. NYR has a VERY deep prospect pool, but lacks center depth. Look at Monahan contract 3 years at $6.375M for a 1B C. If Hank doesn’t retire, you give him 1 more year as backup to win. This team is very winnable. Perhaps NYR are giving too much but you aren’t getting a top 6C and a top 4 LHD without overpaying. TDA honestly is very replaceable. Nils will be up soon enough and it’s 3rd pair. TDA isn’t a top 4 defensive dman. He’s an offensive powerhouse on the D end but a 2/3 pairing defensive player. NYR need a real top LHD.

Thread:
Lets do this
What accomplishment does Strome or TDA gain by signing a 1 year deal? If Strome does not repeat this past season, he won’t get a long term deal. This is his best chance to get a long term deal. After being on pace for 70 pts largely due to Panarin, you do NOT bet on yourself on a 1 year deal to do it again.
Also, with TDA, you don’t have such a great offensive season and bet on yourself to do it again.
Lastly, this team got swept in the play in round and yes Lafreniere is supposed to be an upper elite-generational talent, but they still need imo a proven top 4 LHD and we don’t know how NYR management/ coaching staff view Chytil whether it’s C or W.
