LAK Fiala
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pierre_from_Orleans</b></div><div>I 100% agree, the deal was fair and Minny got a good prospect back in Faber. He should be a top 4 defensive defenceman, might not be elite, but that is not a slight, that is just really tough to do.
I'll agree to disagree on the fan aspect, there were more Wild fans thinking they'd get a significantly better return then this.
On the trade though, I think Fiala fits really well in LA as well, doesn't have to be the leader with Kopitar there and he can just play his game.</div></div>
Yeah, it’s real tough to get an elite Dman, and those don’t move often in trades. I think he profiles as a Brodin type of defenseman, I’ll take that any day.
Yeah, I’d say I fell into that category at one time. Once Russo started saying R1 pick and a good prospect, I started coming around to a lesser return. It ain’t easy to do though. I know many Wild fans and not many are disappointed with this return. I’ll be curious to see what some *fan polls say. I’m sure those will be coming haha.
Fiala is going to put up 100+ points with Kopitar. I loved watching Fiala every night, but the cap is the cap.

This is just for fun, so it probably isn’t going to happen. However, I think you’re going to be disappointed with what you get back.
A first in what is supposed to be a great draft class, a former 1st who is just about NHL ready and a mid 6 winger retained to help cap is a fair offer

From what I've seen from the rest of the ACGMs, the 7OA and Jarventie is just fine to get Fiala.

bit of an overpayment for Kubalik in my opinion, Ottawa would rather buyout White since its gonna be cheaper (878K) than retaining 975K and keep Thomson just trade picks for Kubalik if they want to get him

If it’s Thomson + Jarventie + 7th or around that value , I’d for sure consider it. But if we have to switch Jarventie for Greig or Pinto, that’s probably where I’m hesitant to make a deal

I’d say that the value favours Vancouver significantly, that being said, it’s the exact type of trade I’ve been talking about. it’s basically identical to what I’ve been saying but with Fiala. I’d try to argue in like a random 3rd or something, but I’d take the deal as is if it was this or nothing and the Wild said no to their version of the same trade</div></div>
Really?
Brock Boeser has a 7.5 QO, meaning he has leverage to get a contract with a 7.5 AAV
Look at his injury history and the number of games he has missed
Ottawa package is :
2022 1st round pick (OTT) vs 2022 1st round pick (VAN) : 7th OA to 15th OA trade down, this is huge value
Brown, Connor : 2-way 50 pts forward who mostly produces at ES/PK. Boeser just paced at 53 pts with 40% of his production coming on the PP (our #1 PP is already full full full). Connor Brown will be less costly than Boeser on his next contract. He is a much better skater, much better defensively and much more versatile. Boeser is pretty "unidimensional". Brown is worth a 1st+2nd based on the NHL market the last few deadlines.
Järventie, Roby : early 2nd round pick from 2 years ago. His stock has slightly improved, worth a late1st. I wouldn't trade him for 2nd round pick value, no way.
Brännström, Erik : was a top prospect not too long ago. He hasn't taken the NHL by storm so people think he's some kind of bust but he has progressed every year. He has 27 pts in 83 GP since 2020-21 when he was still 21 y/o... His TOI/GP was 19:46 this season and he looked very good in several games. It's just not easy for a smaller D-man to become a Top-4 at such a young age. He still has value for sure. I wouldn't trade him for anything less than an early 2nd and I wouldn't really be happy with it or anything
Sure Boeser is capable of producing better than last season but doesn't this remind you of Bobby Ryan? He was 0.7 PPG in the last 2 seasons of his contract, then signed the 7.25 AAV extension and just could never live up to it as his injury story piled up and he got older...
This package is like two 1st, two 2nds and the 1st round pick upgrade
This is way too much for Boeser. I would much rather pay that for Fiala and based on past discussions this is probably a bit too much

A lot of things to work on here
Like Formenton's AAV lol
Also, Connor Brown and Kubalik are worth more than that. Fiala a bit more too.
Sens are already letting Mete walk (no QO) so he doesn't get a pick back
Not sure that's the type of change of scenery move the Ducks would want to do but interesting idea nonetheless.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>I got a feeling Murray gets bought out and signs a 1 year 1.5mill deal in Toronto to backup whoever the starter is
Makes no sense moving Kase for him</div></div>
I don't see why the Sens would buy out Murray as they wouldn't save that much REAL MONEY over the next 4 years. Not worth it.
There's also a very high probability he just ends up on LTIR, so that's 80% paid by the insurance
Sens don't need Kase anyway so IF this was to happen, it would be Murray for Mrazek but for it to work, Leafs would need retention on Murray's and then the Sens wouldn't do it if their contracts are equal
Conclusion : nothing will happen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Here's the thing if they keep him they lose 24 year old Gustavsson to waivers
Dorion won't do that and it would be foolish to do so</div></div>
Why would the Sens lose Gustavsson on waivers? You can carry a 23 men roster and the plan is they'll keep all 3 in the NHL
Murray will spend at least 50% of the time on IR/LTIR anyway

Assuming that Yzerman isn't going to bank on one of the kids stealing a roster spot during camp he's likely to want to acquire two LD and that will then be two defenders with two very different and specific jobs. One of them will have to be tailor made to be paired with Hronek and mitigate his weaknesses (Marcus Pettersson is perfect for that job), the other one will have to be able to QB our second PP and be good enough to play with Seider and mentor him and the frontrunners for that job is Schmidt and Martinez. Del Zotto isn't really a good fit for either of those two job descriptions.
Only if everything else fails will Del Zotto enter the discussion.</div></div>
Y'all Detroit fans need to laugh a little. Sorry our teams have been garbage for half a decade. it's okay to laugh at them from time to time.

Does he? I mean after OTT which is the next team that is really interested in him? NYI 13oa, BUF 16oa, LA 19oa? Once you get into the teens it'll be more about what the add is than the pick.
It just seems to me that OTT is bidding against themselves for Fiala after NJD got 2oa.

Different Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Digitalbooya06</b></div><div>Reinhart is absolutely not the comparable. The closest comparable was Taylor Hall when the Devils traded him to Arizona. The equivalent would be something like:
2023 1st (top 3 protected, otherwise unprotected 2024 1st)
2023 3rd (upgrades to 2nd if NJ wins a playoff round or Fiala re-signs with NJ)
Chase Stillman
Nikita Okhotyuk
Samu Salminen</div></div>
Taylor Hall was a pending UFA, a former first overall pick, was 2 years removed from being the MVP, and the Devils didn't have a functional cap of 70M.
He is absolutely not the closest comparable.

I don't see Sens making that deal for Brown, not a guaranteed top 6 winger coming back, he has never had more than 15 goals in a season.
I think they could get a better top 6 scoring threat with Brown coming back the other way. I also see Brown as a deadline deal for someone that is ready for a run.
