Probably. I just have always been a big Steel fan and would rather not trade him. Id rather add another asset than move Steel.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PinkWhitney</b></div><div>Minnesota isn't trading one of their centers when they don't have a replacement. They will likely make the playoffs as a wild card team. West is weak with little competition.
What exactly are you giving up for Bonino 2M retained because I know you don't think you're getting him for a bag of pucks...</div></div>
I'd imagine making a Bonino trade would be contingent on us being out of the playoff race so we a) don't gut our center core before making a run and b) don't trade him to a team we'd likely face in the first round. Yes, the west is weak, but outside of Kaprizov, Fiala, and arguably Greenway we haven't had many bright spots offensively up front. Our blue line is fantastic and Talbot has been really good for us but I envision a lot of scoring issues until we get a 1C and Zucc hopefully proves last year was a fluke.

I wonder if Guerin will be wary about facing Colorado in round 1 of the playoffs, and thus avoids trading Bonino to Colorado.

Dubois
What’s the logic of this move? I’m totally not criticizing, just asking for the logic. I feel like Dubois would get significantly more than this. Kadri’s solid, but Timmins in my mind doesn’t make up enough difference. A high pick at least needs adding I would think.

The defensive depth doesn’t look amazing now, but if that’s all we have to give up for Dubois we should do it.

Colorado accepts.
I can see the logic from Columbus' point of view if a 2C is specifically what they want back. I think they'd ask for Newhook though, and that would be a fair ask. Getting Dubois for Kadri and Timmins would be a nice deal for Colorado, real nice.

Might be a fair trade...four controllable years of PLD, for two years of Kadri and Timmins. But Avs have good chemistry, don't know if they want to trade their "known" guys for PLD.

Other than blues/knights/avs and whoever happens to find 4th, the rest will be selling, Canadian division leafs/flames/habs should be buying and the rest of the division maybe in between, sens probably sell, but rest probably just change some pieces. Car/Tb and philly/wsh/isles and most everybody else possibly caught in the middle. Excited to have some hockey again

Detroit is gonna get a good ransom out of him at the deadline if he continues
just imagine
Bobby has 15 goals 20 assists, only makes a mill
at the deadline Detroit retains half trades him to a playoff team
easily can get a 3rd or 2nd to stockpile more prospects

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PinkWhitney</b></div><div>What is the goal tending solution then? Campbell is not a starter.</div></div>
I want to say I trust whatever happens next offseason. 2022 is expected to be a deep draft and I'd rather Toronto take someone in the opening stages of it instead of trading the pick for short term help.
Hoping Campbell gets some more starts this season. He's definitely not expected to be the main guy here but hopefully his play is good enough where he can have a good number of starts and take the pressure off of whoever is ahead of him.

Actually, he was declining before, he's been looking renewed the last season and this one, but that's fine, Kings don't need to move him he's helping pump AA's value right now.

a few pld trade ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PinkWhitney</b></div><div>Dubois has pretty much closed himself in a tiny box. Wanting a trade this early in his career makes him a very unattractive add and now that he apparently wants to go to Montreal, it will be even harder for teams to want to pay a hefty price for him other than Montreal.
My guess, he is either traded to Montreal or he works things out in Columbus and stays.</div></div>
Ehh, agree to disagree about him being an unattractive add. He's still a 22yo 1C with four RFA years making way under market value the next two years.
Some people around here look at his stats and see a 60 point forward, but he's on a team that has struggled to create any offense for the last two-plus years and has an anemic power play. Putting him on a more free flowing team that has a good power play and IMO he's an 80-90 point forward who is ridiculously strong on the puck.

That's some crazy retention.
And its pretty much Maple Leaf scrubs to retain. I don't think any of those teams say yes.
And I don't think ALL (or any) of your RFAs and UFAs return with such favourable discounts.
But I give you credit for what most Leaf fans don't automatically do: re-sign Thornton and Simmonds

Not terrible but I'd rather them hold onto their first for 2022, even if it means not getting Kuemper.
