Lol, not our fault Toronto paid Ceci 4.5M/yr and had him playing on the 1st pairing w/ Reilly and had him playing 1st pairing minutes. As a 3rd line Depth D-Man, making 1.2M for 1 yr. isnt a bad signing. He’ll play 10-14 minutes a game. We have Ruthwedel as a RHD depth for our 3rd pairing too.So, if he’s not serviceable, he’ll be sitting in the press box as a healthy scratch and Ruthwedel will be our 3rd pairing RHD. No harm no foul at 1.2M.The Pens are not strapped for cash, like the Leafs, and have to try and dump 4 starting players(that no one else wants) for 1 to get under the cap. See u know nothing, not a horrible signing, just stop. Yes, was a horrible signing at 4.5M/yr to play on the Leafs 1st pairing. Yes, a bad signing. Not as a depth defensemen that won’t crack the 3rd pairing and won’t crack 14 minutes a night when he plays(which won’t be every night either).

And he didn’t he even sign Joey Anderson. Ya, your team just traded for him and don’t sign him. Just someone posting to post. Obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about or know Hockey.

Based on rumors
I read Wilson but nothing about Kovalchuk. I heard Wilson more as depth though as a 1st/2nd line Center if Crosby/Malkin get injured and miss time. Which I agree with, Wilson would be a better 1st/2nd line Center than Janko or McCann would be. I doubt they do anything now unless someone falls into their lap at a league min. deal. Every team needs that little bit of cap space for injuries and a player isn’t injured long-enough to go on long-term IR and come off that cap number. You need to be able to call players up in that situation. So we are probably in really bad shape this year if Crosby or Malkin get hurt. I think we would have to call up Jordy Bellerive if that case. A.Angello or Lafferty arnt a good fit as a 1st or 2nd line Center either.

He’s not arbitration eligible buddy. Come on man. He has no leverage. He will sign the 895k contract. He has no other option unless another team offers him. And if they offer him 1.395M or above, they give up and 3rd round Pick compensation. And I guarantee Toronto takes the 3rd round pick and let’s him walk. They can’t match it, not w/out trading someone.

Yep, your top prospect share time on the 4th line..what does that even mean? He’s a healthy scratch? U can’t bounce a player back and forth from the minors on a daily basis or weekly basis??lol. That’s why there is a 22-23 man roster. Which goes against your payroll. So the players that share time, when they don’t play, they are in the press box. Do u even watch Hockey?
And Dermott was offered 895k by Toronto. If another team offers him 1.395M or more, they have to give up a 3rd round Pick compensation. And Toronto lets him walk and takes the 3rd round pick and doesn’t match it. So how is he getting paid 1.5M?? Some people just post to just post and know nothing, or don’t read anything on the team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>895 to 1 million is about 13%. I wouldn't call that nickel and diming. If he made 5 mil that's about the difference between 5 mil and 5.65 mil
Or for us non athlete plebes the difference between say 60 thousand a year and 67.5 thousand or so. Doesn't sound like nickel and diming to me.
If they were arguing between 4.895 and 5 million it's a different story</div></div>
1M or basically 900k is nickel and diming in contract negotiations terms my man.
It’s not 13% either; who did your math?? It’s 10.5%. 100k is 10% and 5k is .5%. Not that hard buddy.
So it would be the difference in making 60k or 66,500.

And no, the team is not better. You significantly lessened our defensive pairings for not even 3rd line Center help. Gaudette isn’t a huge upgrade over Jankowski and both have just as much upside. Janko is only 26, a former 1st round draft pick, coming off his 1st 3 seasons and 1st team.

Lol, I agree with you on this one bud. That’s not a good trade for Pettersson at all. And I would rather Janko as a 3rd line Center.
And ya, we don’t need to trade a D-man? For what? Dumoulin/Letang, Pettersson/Marino, Matheson/Ceci and Ruthwedel and Rikkola as our 21st and 22nd players(and Lafferty as our 23rd and 13th Foward). And Troutman or Czuzman coming up if any injuries(Both are career AHL players or 7-8th D-man). And P.O-Joseph and Maniscalco being our top 2 defensive prospects ready to come up. I don’t see why we need to trade one. Everyone thought we needed to sign one..lol..Hence the Ceci signing.

I don’t know why you would trade Pettersson for that. He’s a top 4 d-man, 24, years old, just signed him to a decently priced long-term deal. I think you’d have to get more for Pettersson.

I guess you guys will find out next week after his arbitration hearing. I believe it’s next week. You can google what date was set. Toronto’s offer sheet for Dermott was 895k. I doubt he nickels and dimes them to 1M. He’ll just sign it, he has no leverage. He can’t sign anywhere else unless someone offers him and hes not arbitration eligible. And if he gets offered 1.395M or above from another team, Toronto let’s him walk and takes the 3rd round pick compensation.

Haula is older and coming off his 3rd team. You know what u are getting. Janko is a 1st round pick. Coming off 3 years w/ 1 team. 17 goals, 25 points and 14 goals, 32 points. And let’s not talk about last year. But last year is easy to write off. If he had a descent year last year. Or just improved alittle, the narrative would be totally different. And he’d be a big free agent. A young, former 1st round pick, with 3 descent years, ready to break out w/ a change of scenery. But with last year in there, now it’s a player that people hope they can unlock his potential, and get him back to atleast a 14-17 goal season.

I hate to tell you but that’s our team. And Jankowski is just as good and more upside than Haula. And for a league min. contract. Everything you read says JR is happy w/ Janko as a 3rd line C. and expects them to unleash his potential. Atleast he is really good defensively and good on the PK.
We just traded for Sceviour, no way they turn around and trade him b4 he plays 1 game..lol. He’s our 4th line RW until Z.A.R gets back and is healthy. He’s out 6 months after surgery. I can see the Pens trading him and his expiring deal at the deadline for something though. And Riikola is thought so highly of in the organization he just got rewarded this offseason w/ that contract. No way they trade him. They love him and think he can play in the top 4 in the future.
