Not sure Boqvist is right guy, but Saros would certainly make us better.
I think we will try to avoid using LTIR as much as we can.

Thats a good move for both VAN and NYI, i think playing with Barzal and getting out of Vancouver Boeser can find his game again and be that second line sniper that puts up 25-30 goals

Varly can block a trade to 1/2 of the league, Pretty sure Arizona is one of those 16 teams on his no trade list.

-Personally don't think the Islanders as currently constructed should be sending out picks for veterans with high cap hits - as you said, the rest of the roster isn't contender-level and I don't think that adding Boeser is enough to drag them into the playoffs in the first place.
-Arizona says no; even if they don't, Varlamov and his 16-team NTC say no. You're basically giving them a more expensive rental goalie, a 1st next year, a 3rd, and a $250K obligation on top of that for an incredibly good goalie. Arizona might be taking the long way around a rebuild but Vejmelka is still young enough to be an important part of it - I don't see them moving him for anything short of an egregious overpay.
-Parise's third on the team in goals and makes the absolute league minimum. I could easily see him getting a 2nd or a 3rd & an interesting prospect at the deadline - dude plays all three phases of the game, and can slide up and down the lineup. Smart contenders love a Swiss army knife like him - he can do anything you ask him to.

I think a lot of these deals are solid, personally I’d wanna hang on to Raty but can see why prospects don’t really fit with where this team is. But I also agree with the guy above, don’t trust Lou at all to make it happen right now - a narrative he can easily change

Realistic 22-23 Season Opening Roster
I don't mind the guys you signed and agree with your overall approach, however:
- As much as I love Bratt he shouldn't be getting more than Hischier. It's not like 8 x 7.5m would be a bad contract for him, but I don't see him signing a long term contract outside of the 6.3 - 7m range.
- Boqvist should get about 1m less, think Siegenthaler's last deal is a good comp for him (and Zetterlund).
- If Wood signs for one year slightly below his QO that'd be great, but realistically I'd expect both him and the front office to be happy with him being around for one more year at 3.5m.
- That's a bad Husso contract, his resume is too short to warrant any such AAV. A 4 x 4 might be fine just to make sure the Blues cannot match but 5m is just reckless. That last year could really hurt when Hughes, Holtz, Mercer and Slafkooley are through their ELCs.
- E-Rod isn't a great contract either, I'd rather offer (+ a little more AAV) that to Palat, Copp or Nichushkin. Or go cheaper with Marchment whom had similar impacts and better production.
- Rather have any of Cooley, Nemec or Jiricek at #2 ahead of Slaf, but if you think Juraj is BPA at #2 I can respect that opinion.
It's a good team overall.
Barring simultaneous goaltending injuries, they should make the playoffs via WC I'd think.
Shows how much the Devils could achieve with having some faith in further developing the core while addressing needs in key areas.
Thumbs up.

2022 Predictions - Past Trends over Rankings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Preston_Mattesich</b></div><div>Super interesting and in-depth analysis of each pick. I like Savoie and Kemell higher than where you have them just because of how explosive and flashy they both can be. I think you're spot on with Jiricek but where I disagree is the difference between him and Nemec. I think both guys are comparable defensively but Jiricek's proven offensive upside puts him head and shoulders above Nemec who in my opinion has been inconsistent on offense at best. Great mock though.</div></div>
My take historically as been the same as yours -- Jiricek > Nemec by a decent gap. Maybe I've softened up a little too much the past few weeks on Nemec! But yeah, if I'm personally the GM I take DJ first for sure.

I feel like chirping the first round impotence and then asking for people to "go easy" ain't going to go well :tearsofjoy
But, in all seriousness, my thoughts:
-Muzzin won't waive his full NTC, and Edmonton absolutely wouldn't move Broberg in a deal like this.
-I feel like Campbell at slightly less than $5 mil is a less bad move than that. Bob's 33 now vs. Jack at 30.
-I think you get Wood cheaper after NJ non-tenders him.

Past 6 years lees 82 game goal pace
16-17 - 34
17-18 - 40
18-19 - 28
19-20 - 24
20-21 - 36
21-22 - 30
This year was the only one since the injury so i dont see whats wrong. He had a tough 1st part of the year but he really picked it up and was great at the 1 year mark since the injury which is the usual amount of time it takes to recover.
I figured that about the goalies.

Lou doesn't trade his guys so I don't think there's a chance Raty gets traded, he had a D+1 seasons similar to Anton Lundell and he was great in his 8 games in the AHL. JT Miller wants between 8 and 9 mill on his next contract. Miller had a career year, its highly unlikely he scores at the same rate on the isles. Nelson has had a lot of success as the isles 2C, it just doesn't make sense to move him to accomadate a declining J.T miller.

Trading that much for JT Miller as a rental is an overpay; doubling down on that overpay by giving him a long-term extension that starts with his age-30 season might be doubling down on that. You've given up what could be the Islanders' two best prospects (assuming that whoever they pick at #13 is better than anyone else in the system other than Raty) and retained 2x$2.5M on Josh Bailey to do that - you're really putting the team in a short term position to maybe be a little better but they're going to have *nothing* in the cupboards to add at the deadline, or to replace the aging guys on a heavily over-30 team.
I can't see Palmieri getting a 1st in that deal - I think you need him to rebuild value this coming season because you're selling him as damaged goods after last season's struggles.
As long as Lou is the GM, I don't see him trading Cizikas. Rumors from last summer had Seattle offering him much more money in terms of AAV but he took the longer term deal to stay on the Island, and Lou doesn't strike me as the type of guy who isn't going to just renege on that one year later.
I might argue that bringing back Chara & Greene in 22-23 would be just as disastrous as relying on Salo & Aho as your LD2/3 this season - Salo probably can be sheltered as LD3 but Aho shouldn't be brought back as anything beyond a 7th D.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>McDavid is the best offensive player (and I think that's enough to make him the best player) and Matthews is probably the best goal scorer and perhaps on his way to become the best 200ft player, so it might be closer than you think. I think McDavid is the more dominant player now and has been at least a top 3 forward in each season (I'm not talking about point totals) that he has played. This is probably not the thread to debate about who is better though, so let's agree that Vasilevskiy is number 1.</div></div>
I would disagree. Mason Geertsen is the number 1 player, when removing those two from consideration

Potential Fiala Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LNels31</b></div><div>Idk if the article I was reading was right but it was saying that if a team decides to offer sheet fiala instead of trading the picks come from this years draft so for NJ fans that think they’ll just offer sheer him will still give up the #2 pick. I don’t think guerin takes a 2023 first. I keep hearing he could be targeting someone in this draft. But either way we’re going to get good compensation for Fiala even though I wish we could keep him. Give us #2 or Holtz.</div></div>
That's not how an Offer Sheet works. A team can't tender an offer sheet to an RFA until the free agent signing window opens up. This would mean the 2022 draft would have already passed and that the 1st round pick moving in a Fiala offer sheet would be a 2023 pick.
Also, I think both of those are overpays for the Devils to obtain Fiala considering they are not a Fiala away from contention at this point. Giving up a #2 overall or a top prospect on an ELC who is touted as a potential high goal scorer for a pending RFA...just too high of an asking price for NJ, I think. If you can get that from another team, that's cool, but I don't think that kind of payment is on the Devils' radar.

NJ TO THE YOFFS
I think the 1st for Fiala is a big, bold move if it sticks at 5OA. Hard to see Minnesota blinking at that offer - Fiala is good, but they're in a cap squeeze with those buyout penalties and a top 5 pick might bring in a guy on an ELC that can play NHL minutes right away. I wonder if getting rid of Zacha & the 2nd makes it enough for Guerin to just bite the bullet.
Boeser trade seems to be fair value - a roster player, a recent 1st round prospect, and a high 2nd feels like a good deal for Boeser. Just need to convince Canucks fans that Ty Smith can play the right side as well (CP has him listed as LD/RD), because they need a little more help on that side than the left side.
Isles trade is a non-starter, if only because they've got 13 forwards under contract next season and adding those 2 guys just forces them to have to make other moves. If you have an LD to dangle in that deal, there's probably some traction to that deal.
Wood for a mid-round pick is totally fair, just not sure who takes that bait.
As far as the signings, I think you can probably get Jersey's RFAs a little cheaper, but it'll be balanced out by the fact that Fiala & Boeser probably come in pricier than what you have here.
