I agree fully. But if Anaheim truly wants to trade Manson either have to take a type Muzzin deal and not have any nhl ready prospects or something like this.

The guy can't even make it on the Leafs roster. So why would Anaheim want him? He's pretty much looking like a career AHLer to me. And once again this really doesn't meet the needs of Anaheim. Gee trade Manson acquire both Ceci and Dermott and Bob Murray does this why again? If i'm Anaheim this doesn't get you Manson let alone Ritchie added to the deal.</div></div>
Bracco can't crack the leafs forwards?? 11 of the 12 starting forwards on detroit couldn't crack the leafs forwards roster. Also, Johnsson is a on the leafs top line right now how does he not help ANA. Anyways if you are going to talk through your a** at least make valid points. Also, Ritchie is a bottom 6 forward and he's worth more the whats i propose? Detroit fans should thank their lucky stars Yzerman is your gm not a person like you or they will never make back to the playoffs.

If they make any trade for a top 4 dman without giving up the core it will cost a 1st. Also the core of this team is more or less locked up long term. So if they were to do this and with how Dubas is finding NHLers all the way down the draft board the leafs should be able to fill in the roster.

Well Bracco is from all accounts NHL ready but can't crack the roster due to the depth, and Duszak im not following as much but from what i have read is a promising dman prospect thats why i called them solid.

Not for those random bits and pieces, we don't.
Start with Timothy Liljegren and a 2020 second. Remember what Jake Muzzin cost you?</div></div>
Jake muzzin cost us a 1st and a chl prospect, and a ahl prospect. So why would a NHL RHD be the same value.

Why are the leafs trading one of best skaters in the nhl who can put up top 6 points with a 4th line center (Spezza) on a great contract for a Regressing RHD?

Is this reasonable for Dumba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksince71</b></div><div>Dumba’s numbers are down from previous years, so it may be opportune time to make the right offer to the Wild. I like the Leafs offered here. This is a balanced trade. However, a player like Dumba, 7th overall, with enormous upside practically demands a 1st to grab Guerin’s attention.
Minnesota seems to be spinning their wheels, another year looms as the club fails to make the post season. If the Wild are a playoff bubble team, then they will keep Dumba for their push, but if it is clear they are out by the end of February, that deal could happen.
Guerin has been patient, looking at his team weaknesses. I think if he does pull the trigger moving Dumba, it will most likely come in the off season.</div></div>
I agree and add that Dumba's only real solid year was when his contract was comming up and there is the risk he is only motivated when he could make more money.

Matthews is the problem
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canadian_Rednek</b></div><div>The Toronto Media and Marner's Agent/Dad are the issues, Signing Marner to a deal around his $9M value solves any of the "problems" the leafs have. Marner is at best the 3rd best player -behind Matthew's and Tavares- on the Leafs and at worse the 5th best -depending on how you value Reilly and Nylander.-</div></div>
I would say marner is the 4th best Matthews, Tavares, Reilly, Marner, then Nylander. And the biggest issue is Marner's Dad/agent who think his son is the best winger in the NHL which if they looked at his stats he's maybe 5th. Also Babcock for putting him with Tavares and inflating his stats. If he was with Kadri last season he probably puts up 70 pts and where not in this issue.

MARNER SIGNS AND MADE CAPTAIN
Marner will not be the next captain due his father being an egotistical a** who demanded his son be named captain. The leafs hate marner's father from what i understand so much that Shanahan avoids him like the plague. So though marner is a very talanted player, can be one of the leaders on the team leafs will not give marner's father a bigger podium to complain from.

I agree other than his fathers ego can't fit into Scotiabank Centre. But i have to hope that like nylander he is going to have to accept his true market value.

Lets Be Real
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sign_em_up000000</b></div><div>Yeah but Marner is not a good fit for the Blues as they don't have a JT to line him up with. Also Parayko is St. Louis's best dman under an extremely team friendly deal. Dman especially right shot are the most conveyed commodity around the league statistically. Also the Blues just won the cup so i doubt they would want to break up their core. Yes Berrie is good (offensively) but terrible in his own zone (similar to Gards). You also cant base a players value based on stats alone, as there are alot of things that stats dont tell you (not saying they aren't useful) just dont tell yhe whole story. Always best to use stats and the eye test to see if someone would be a good fit.</div></div>
The fact that no team has obviously even presented an offersheet close to matthews salary or somebody (ie paul marner) would have leaked it makes me think alot of other teams are fearful that marners stats are inflated greatly by being on JT wing. About the trade the leafs may shop around for a solid physical shutdown dman round deadline but i think the plan is to see what they have seeing this team is as good overall if not better than last years.

boston super team
I hope boston does this cause on your roster marner is only an 80-85 pt winger seeing his stats are inflated. Also, i hope they do offer him 7 years and he signs cause you will be paying almost 5 million more for 7 years seeing in the CBA it states "Offer sheet annual average (AAV) is calculated by dividing the contract value by the lower of: 1. The contract length, or 2. Five years" so thanks for the 4 1st round picks good luck when you have only 6 nhl calibre forwards due to that you have no cap space and helping the leafs win their cups.

So even though he has been offersheeted supposedly at 10.5 which like i said the can swing you bring up a player who had a bad season cause he held out for 1/2 a season marner is not going to accept 10.5 his daddy has already stated that and from reports was offered roughly that already by the leafs so if your asking would i rather a player who even based off his playoffs and world champs will probably put up 80 pts or a player only after an over inflated contract that obviously never really wanted to play for the leafs then i'd take nylander and 2 quality top 6 forwards for the 10.5 marner thinks is not enough money.

Honestly though i could stomach 10.5 I think based off Kutcherov, Stone contracts he should be round 9-9.5 if marner truly was going to play at market value. And if he wants even 10.5 he needs to sign for 8 years. And before you bring up taxes marner will be getting everything but .7 each year in signing bonuses just like tavares and Matthews which offsets taxes especially whdn you put his endorsement deals into the equations.

No one said they would both combine to replace him based off stats prior but Tavares linemates put up inflated stats so though as a duo they will probably put up round 110-120 pts next season Hyman and Marner put up 135 so production wise they would lose very little and they are actually more playoff ready seeing Ferland is a soild physical top 6 wing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShero</b></div><div>As a non Leafs why not just run with Matthews, Tavares, Kapanen, Nylander, Johnsson, and Hyman in the top 6; then sign some 1 year contracts to fill out the lineup (like a Maroon/ Brian Boyle), or give the open bottom 6 spots to younger players. So that way you have some cap space to resign Barrie, Muzzin, maybe Ceci if he plays well in the off-season if the cap goes up again.</div></div>
I was thinking that but Dubas needs to replace marners production as best he can though Boyle and maroon is a solid options they are bottom 6/4th line forwards and this would give them 3 quality scoring lines and a solid 4th line.

The reports are its 12.5 marner want 11.6 and from all accounts is not budging that's why his agent and dad are aggressively trying to get an offersheet at over that. I still think he is overpaid at 10.568 but with some minor tinkering they can swing it but most teams know this and thats why the team rumoured to be offering is at 12.5.

Leafs are not signing marner for more than 10 million anything more Dubas takes the 4 picks signs Ferland and Dzingel for less than the total has one of the deepest teams in the nhl and the picks to upgrade d and even the forwards. Also they are not dumping nylander when his value is so low.

And how many GM's bank on every other player signing at market value and get screwed. It happened to EDM when they did it to Penner, it happened to PHI when they sheeted Weber, it even happened to TOR even though Matthews is around market value based off pts/game. Lou offered Panarin that salary cause he was a UFA and wouldn't cost him picks and seeing he was a UFA would have no impact to Barzal. Marners contract would even if he puts up 80 pts his salary demand will be round 10.5 based off marner offer. If Lou does this he is banking of Dubas matching the offersheet and messing up the leafs. No team truly thinks Marner is worth 12.5 and is only doing it so the leafs need to dump core players at a discount.
