Deadline trade with Columbus
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckYourself</b></div><div>I think there is no chance your getting our first rounder for a few reasons. After loss of Dubois and Anderson we are goIng through some growing pains. Not full rebuild but retooling, lot of new pieces. Roslovic, Laine, and Domi still raw in our system and need a full normal offseason to find chemistry. With expansion draft coming, our need to restock the prospect pool, and CBJ being a small market team that builds through draft our front office will not let our 1st rd pick go easily. Boone Jenner is possibly the future captain of our team and one of the few veteran presence type players we have on a very young team, especially if we opt not to resign our current captain Foligno who is set to go FA as it stands now. I know he’s happy in Columbus and is valued in our lockeroom, so this complicates Jenner’s real value to us versus outside perception.</div></div>
Why are you talking about CBJ's 1st? It's not in the trade...
The trade only involves Colorado's 1st going to Columbus.

Lets Talk New CBJ Lineups
Nice lineup, but with so much pressure on the team to perform and win SC this year, I would have gotten a champion/leader.
I don't know, when sh*t start hitting the fan in the playoffs, I'd want some true leaders who won few cups on my team.
There are no one on CBJ that went past 1st round in playoffs (Ok, yeah McQuaid won a cup, but he is not really a leader or a game changer in that sense).
I mean, Someone like Seabrook, yeah he is old and over paid, but someone similar. Even someone like Kruger would have been great. Playoffs are mental exercise as much as physical. (Panarin is not a leader, Dzingle, MD, not really, Dubinsky probably will be mostly in the box when things get tough). IDK just saying
It will be fun to watch this spring, I guess.

Lets Talk New CBJ Lineups
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>After TDL I think you can have as many players up, but 20 players dressing for a game must fit under the cap</div></div>
that's not correct. The only time cap doesn't matter is once the playoffs start, in regular season it does, even after the trade deadline.
The reason this shows them as 4million over while they are cap compliant is because all contracts are prorated. Meaning for example while Duchene is making 6mil this year, and armchair counts him as costing the jackets 6million, he doesn't actually cost them 6million since they are only paying him for the final 20 games they are only paying a portion of his salary. So if teams "bank" space earlier in the season it allows them to get a player with higher cap hit later in the season without actually going over. This also comes up when somebody is injured, it creates additional space.
Armchair GMs operate as if you are putting the full team together day 1 of the season and you are keeping every single player for the entire season. You can look up the real values(or at least close to the real values) from the main screen of the site.

Stacked, scary line up. Who do you think can be resigned? I assume Bob and the Bread man are gone.

you can look on the main page and see their actual cap situation.
Not sure if Dubinsky, plays in the playoffs or not. I'm sure people would like to see the goonery he brings on the ice as the playoffs get physical.
But he's clearly not the most skilled player available.

Lets Talk New CBJ Lineups
I would line em up as follows:
Panarin / Dubois / Atkinson
Dzingel/ Duchene / Bjorkstrand
Foligno / Jenner / Anderson
Dubinsky / Wennberg / Nash
Reserve F - Robinson Hännikäinen & Sedlak
My rationale is to keep the Dubois & Jenner lines intact since they were really clicking most of the year. Duchene played with Dzingel most of the year, and adding Bjorkstrand to that line would give him confidence and set him up for some big time success.
Your D lines are perfect until Murray returns.
Murray would play 1LD when he returns.
Reserve D then - Nutivaara Harrington & Kukan.
Tomorrow night should be telling.
Pens are really depleted on the back line.
I am hoping we can blitz them big time & show the hockey world that we are for real now.

Unfortunately no one is going to pay top price without an extension and Panarin gets to decide that. If rumors are true he’ll be a Panther one way or another

As long as it’s a mid to low level prospect it’s fine, if they give up a top prospect just shows desperation and yes I do believe there will be a couple GM’s that will pay that price

Trades with PIT OTT CAR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckYourself</b></div><div>I want to keep Harrington anyway. The 2 defenders I would be willing to trade are Ryan Murray and David Savard. Murray only resigned a 1 year deal last year. Why? I think he wants a change of scenery and we may lose him anyway if he tests free agency in offseason. Murray is playing great right now too but we need to get value for him. He can play either side. I think the natural born Canadian would agree to a new deal with Ottawa.</div></div>
Murray was betting on himself with that contract. He probably felt he'd be short changing himself if he signed a long term deal after a mediocre season. He's probably going to be looking to sign a longer term extension after a breakout season.

Contending without Bob
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckYourself</b></div><div>We don’t want Sam Gagner back, he gave incosistant effort and was often just plain not good. Harrington is becoming a good young defensemen in our starting rotation. I would trade Murray who is on a 1 year deal, is injury prone, and is probably signing with a new team this offseason anyway (even though he is playing well now). Savard could be traded too, he is a slow skating defender that gets beat by speed too often but plays well below the blue line and in PK. I think our most likely trade partners will be Florida Panthers, and Ottawa Senators. Werenski is actually our worst defender by goals allowed while he’s on ice. Seth Jones, Nutty, Harrington, Werenski, Carlson and Kukan are all 25 or under, most haven’t reached their prime and are the future of the Jackets.</div></div>
Fortunately, Murray can’t just sign with another team, he is still restricted (RFA) status. He is playing well, like a top pair D man, and Harrington and Nuti too. Carlsson can’t even get a roster spot. Savard is playing well too, he made a great assist last night on Panarin’s goal. I wouldn’t write Savard off just yet. Playoffs require experience and depth, especially at D. These guys are mostly young, but really good, just not flashy. There’s a lot to be said for the scouting and development over the last 5 or so years. The next wave coming up will be goaltenders...Veeti V., Elvis, and the Kid up in Cleveland, Kivliekens, I can’t wait to see them in the near future.

Trade with Senators
Interesting deal but two issues here. One is the Jackets are in a playoff run and the Jackets can't just go with Korpisalo. They would need another deal to bring in a goaltender for the playoffs. Two is Bobrovsky would have to waive his NMC. Not sure he will do anything to help the Jackets in this regard. He will get a better chance to make more money on his next contract if he shines in the playoffs.

As a Sens fan, this is a monster return for Duchene and they say yes in a heart beat. If Bob doesnt want to stay and play in Ottawa, they could flip him to another team (Edmonton?). Could make this a three way trade to give the bluejackets some more depth:
CBJ Gets: Duchene and Talbot
CBJ Gives: Bobrovsky, Milano Bjorkstrand Murray
Ottawa Gives: Duchene
Ottawa Gets: Milano, Bjork, Murray EDM 1st
Edm Gives: Talbot, EDM 1st
Edm Gets: Bobrovsky

I could see Ottawa being willing to roll the dice with one of Bjorkstrand or Milano, but I think it would be too risky for them to go for both. Both have a lot of upside, but they're both maybes in terms of whether they'll ever reach their potential. Milano specifically I wouldn't touch if I'm Ottawa. I'm not sure what it is, but I've never been convinced that he was going to be a guy at he NHL level.
Having Bob in the deal is kind of a headache for the sens, I think. There's no value for Ottawa in being able to negotiate with him, because even if he were to sign for exactly what he makes now, that's still well outside Ottawa's price range. They could flip him for a 1st plus, but it makes more sense for CBJ to do all that legwork, and just give Ottawa the assets.
Murray has been great this season, but I'd rather see Nutivaara, because he plays the right side.

Huge overpay for a pending UFA. Same argument people make agains trading for Bread & Bob.
Murray has shown top pairing ability this season.
Agree Milano and Bjorkstrand need a reboot somewhere. I believe the deal could be done leaving Murray out of it. Or giving Harrington or Kukan instead.
