Well the one year they played together, McDavids first year in the league. McDavid had 48 points in 45 games and Hall had 65 in 82. Seemed to work fine.

Kahun had 31 points in 56 games. He is young at 25. Thinking even with the flat cap a team like Detroit, Colorado or Buffalo would give him 4 at 3 years.

I would hope Greiss comes cheaper than that. 8.5 million locked into Goalies for the next 2 years. You need some cap opening to resign RNH and Yamamoto and replace Larsson. Russell's cap space once gone wont go too far next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MyBaby</b></div><div>Kylington should be becoming an nhl regular at this point. He played 48 games for us last year, 38 the year before and has spent 5 years in the AHL. Mackey doesnt have to be a regular yet. You can put Petrovic as your 3rd RD and kylington as your 3rd LD. Or you can shift a little money around and go drop 1.5m on a 3rd pairing d. I would much rather have gaudreau then a slightly better 3rd pairing D. Again, same goes with dell. He is a completely viable backup and I would rather have him then rittich if it means keeping johny AND acquiring hall.
If your paying your top 3 D 15 million and you cant trust any of them on the PP youre in trouble. I think its time for andersson to step up. We just gave him a nice big juicy contract. He might as well earn it.
If the choice is between hall or gaudreau, I would rather just keep gaudreau. This post is a way in which we can add hall and keep gaudreau. This requires some sacrifices. If those are a slight downgrade to the third pairing D and backup goaltender, i'm all for it.</div></div>
I don't trust Dell to carry the team if Markstrom gets injured. Rittich has proven to be a viable starter (if only for half of the last 2 seasons)

That 3rd D pairing is BAD! Way too young and inexperienced. If Hall signs Gaudreau should be shopped for a top 9 right handed winger/center and a good #4/5 defenseman who can kill penalties and move into the top 4 should there be an injury. Could probably use a D that can also run a powerplay since after Gio no one is amazing at quarterbacking. Also get a first and second to boot. For the price difference of Dell I would rather keep Rittich for the year.

NEED YOUR OPINIONS ON THIS
Calgary woukd rather sign a free agent like Markstrom or Hotby for free than give up 2 seconds for a player with 1 year left on his contract. Be better off trading for Kemper or Murray who is a RFA.

It was just a starting point. Not sure what all Calgary could get back but figured I would start low and see what others come up with.

Figured if Calgary wins the Taylor Hall sweepstake then it makes everything good in their eyes. Plus Merley is a solid player. Right handed and plays a position Calgary needs. I could see them upping an offer for him to be included.

Detroit - Franzen mid pick
Detroit typically doesn't throw their young kids into situations. Frolik could be a mentor and shelter letting the young kids play weaker competition and gain better confidence before moving up the line-up. Detroit could then flip Frolik at the deadline when teams will have more cap and get a minimum 2nd for him. Lately, lesser players than Frolik who can't play up and down the lineup have gotten more than a 2nd at the deadline.

Braun got a second and a third in the last year of his contract make 3.8 from SJ to Philly. Brodie is guaranteed to bring in more than 2 2nds. He was the main target in a agreed trade for Kadri before Kadri blocked the trade. Brodie obviously has good value still.

Not going to get Bennett and a first for Kreider either unless he has already agreed to a long term extension. Bennett is still a RFA and Calgary owns his rights until he gets an offer sheet or Calgary trades him away. Kreider is a UFA at the end of the year and a first and a middle 6 forward with grit is way too much. Maybe you could get Mangiapane and a first.

Total agree, unfortunately, Calgary is not dealing from a position of strength. They need cap space and all other teams know it. Drives the price for decent players down.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>claytron8000</b></div><div>Frolik is worth more than a 3rd. Not sure why he's constantly being given away.</div></div>
Frolik is an interesting trade target because he only has one year left on his contract. It looks like he’d pretty much be a season-long rental, but that’s not the worst thing for a bottom-six forward. His cap hit of $4.3 million is more than manageable for the Devils, especially if he can produce close to 40 points.
I don’t think it’d cost much to acquire him, especially if the Flames are just looking to shed salary to make moves, like re-signing Matthew Tkachuk. A mid-round draft pick or a B-level prospect would likely get the job done.
