Only figured since Fox is a stud and if the Caps have any hope of signing Carlson they will need Orpiks contract gone. Orpik on a buyout still hit 2.5 million to next years cap space and another 1.5 the year after. Calgary could take his full cap for 1 year without Washington having to take another NHL contract back.

Two trades feedback please
Lucic is a cap dump and brings the value of Drai way down. Take out Lucic and Staal and make the Carolina pick a 2019 1st to make the deal work.

How does trading a top 4 D for a 4th line center (where you put him) and a AHL left wing help the flames now and in the future?

Totally forgot about Koskinen! Just knew Edmonton needed a good backup after last year. Feel free to replace Anderson with someone like Zack Smith who could be a third line center/winger.

Dubas' Leafs
Andersson is Calgary's #1 stud RH D prospect who is supposed to be in the NHL next year. No way they trade him for a 34 year old backup and another left hand D prospect who would be behind Valimaki and Kylington on the depth chart.

Calgary would do Moulson for Brouwer straight across. Overpaid NHL player with 2 years remaining for way overpaid AHL player with 1 year remaining.

NO THANKS. You keep Russell. Sure as hell not giving 2 picks and a bottom right hand D slightly overpaid for a bottom pair left hand way overpriced D.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigBeardBurns</b></div><div>U can trade Ferland and get a pick. That way u wont have him to worry about. I doubt Calgary would make that extreme of a condition (maybe 30 points?). I think Evander should stay in SJ.</div></div>
I agree Kane could stay in San Jose. If he does I can see Calgary trying to spend a bit more to bring in van Riemsdyk.

Toffoli or Bjugstad? What's the cost?
He's a right handed player who could excel if moved to the RW top line. 6' 6" power player who can get to the net, could play really well with the skill set of Monahan and Gaudreau. Basically, he could be a very effective top line winger locked up for 3 more years after this year at just over 4 million and could play top 6 center if there was an injury.

Teams still want the money and the contracts off their books. Florida paid Crouse to Arizona to take LTIR Bolland, NYI lost Bischoff a first and a second in the expansion draft to get rid of LTIR Grabovski, Anahiem paid Theadore to get rid of LTIR Stoner, Columbus traded LTIR Nathan Horton to Toronto for Clarkson since he could play. hell ... Columbus paid a first and William Karlsson so that Vegas would take long term injured Clarkson off their hands.
Just saying, getting those contracts and money off the books is important to teams and trades like the one I've suggested do happen frequently.

The idea being that Ottawa would rather swap 4.6 million MacArthur for 3.5 million Brouwer and now are pay a player who can actually play rather than sit at home.

Flames 2018-19 (explanation in description)
This team would be VERY good. The 3rd line would be very challenging to play against if it could come together. I don’t think they need Cole or Sceviour as they have fitting players for a 6th D and 4th line center in the system and don’t require 1.8 million per. Need the money to resign Tkachuk and Ferland, also contracts that can start extending like Brodie, Hamonic, Hoffman, Frolik etc. And that is the main reason for my 4 star instead of 5 rating.

Toronto. Cost for Kapanen and Soshnikov?
I just have a hard time seeing where Kapanen will fit. The top 2 RW spots are filled by Marner and Nylander and Kapanen is not a bottom 6 player. With players like JVR, Brown, Hyman etc Kapanen will have a hard time landing a spot. Figured it’s time Toronto moves him for a player who can help now.

Dream Scenario
Hate Kris, love Dougie. Got Dougie for a first and 2 seconds and his value has increased as his points per year increase. Russell is not worth a 3rd let alone a 2nd.
Nurse+ 2-1sts and a 2nd. (Dream scenario right)
