I mean I don't see that as happening but it's definitely a possibility. I see DeBrincat being dealt for something in the realm of a first, a couple of seconds, and some good prospects

so it's 12M in space here for next year pre-cap jump. So that covers Merer (can't imagine that's more than 6M).
Nemec you can push off a year and then you can figure out how that goes with like, Hamilton or Marino.
Hughes is 2 years out and shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as the cap jumps.
You can also bridge either of those dudes as needed. and offer sheets don't exist

Extending all of them should be fine, provided you put swap Walsh in for Nemec at 3RHD as to preserve one more year of ELC slide, big difference to pay Nemec 900k in 26/27 than 8-9m.
Ahead of either the 24/25 or 25/26 seasons you can also trade Marino out for a pretty good haul and run a right side of Hamilton - Nemec - Walsh (or Casey depending on how quickly he develops).
Palat's contract would hurt a little but his full NMC turns into 10 team trade list in 2025, so another 6m that wouldn't be too difficult to move out at that time.
If it came to it you could trade Hamilton ahead of his last year if some of those young guys really popped off and become top 20 players in the league.
Point is, the Devils could manage adding DeBrincat to the current core and remain cap compliant without having to pay to dump cap.
As for offersheets I wouldn't worry about them as they occur so infrequently.

And the rebuilding Ducks would want two seasons of 32-year-old Taylor Hall and his $6 million cap hit ($12.5 million in real money) why? To finish 30th instead of 31st?

Sadly true, most likely the Sharks would have to be paying a first for a team to even consider taking it. He is probably the perfect tank commander for the Sharks though.

The Voit can really be any prospect they would accept. I just knew a 3rd wouldn’t be enough.
Sandin may be long term better but we need to win now. Ekholm helps that more than Sandin now. Plus we will a hole on D cheap for next couple years.
It’s steep but I felt it fair for both teams.

Save that money for good deadline rentals or an offseason pickup</div></div>
Fair, but the Hurricanes are also a top 3 team right now, this is with a team cap hit of like 72M. They have an extra 10M, which they should weaponize. Go all in, because its quite possible they won't have an opporunity as good as the one they have here

What the….this is a massive overpay. We know what deadline deals look like, and it certainly isn’t more than this.

The Flyers haven't been trying to move Frost, teams were just calling on him in November. In terms of value though, I think this looks good. Maybe take out Frost and add a guy like Braun who could help you with defensive depth on a playoff run.

Considering we were hoping to get a 1st for him with retention (that ship has sailed probably sailed, but with another month until the TDL and injuries piling up, you never know) we're going to require at least a 23 2nd+ to send him out with retention.

Andersen isn't available. If he was, you're looking at this years 1st and more. He was 4th in Vezina voting last year, he's still an incredible goalie when he's healthy. If this is all your wanting to give up for a goalie, maybe Raanta is a better fit.

How about we judge eachother based on statements and leave the comedy for those with a personality to pull it off</div></div>
Or I could just make jokes and hope people don't get butt hurt?
But heres something, I feel LA would rather take a bit more time with Byfield and hope he is an eventual Kopitar replacement. Also I'm not that high on Byfield so I don't know if he gets there.

GM Hughes draft day deal
Here's the first reason why your statement that Byfield and Farrell have "similar value" is mistaken: Byfield, 6'4", 215 pounds, big hitter, already playing in professional hockey despite the fact that he's younger than Farrell; Farrell, 5'8", 175 pounds, unsigned prospect playing in the NCAA.
Here's the second reason why your statement that Byfield and Farrell have "similar value" is mistaken: Byfield -- automatically becomes your best center prospect, without much quality ahead of him; Farrell, far behind well-developed prospects like Grundstrom, Anderson-Dolan, Turcotte and Fa-gem-o if we're talking about LW, Madden, Helenius and Pinelli if we're talking about center (although I will admit that if Farrell makes it to the NHL, he has a higher ceiling than any of them and might turn out to be the next Clayton Keller).
Here's the third reason why your statement that Byfield and Farrell have "similar value" is mistaken: we have sufficient depth at all of the forward positions that Farrell wouldn't interest us; our major weakness for which we would consider trading Byfield is at LhD. IF (and it's a big IF) we agreed with your analysis that Byfield will take much longer to develop, we'd only be interested in trading for Kaiden Guhle or Arber Xhekaj.
Finally, we tend to be patient with our prospects. (See Vilardi and Turcotte.) I highly doubt that we'd give up on Byfield this quickly.
