Erik Karlsson trade packages
Can't see that being a substantial enough return for EK, considering retention and the players going back (?) Seattle would definitely need to subtract a contract or 2, but can't see Schwartz waiving his NMC for San Jose at this point, and Wennberg might just have them on his NT list. (?) Tough deal to execute.

Thank you JBB for proving me right
What if a team who needs the physicality he provides (and thinks he will rebound offensively) decide to offer-sheet Jeannott? . . . maybe even in the 3-4 million range to really make Tampa sweat. Does JBB match, simply based on the price they paid to acquire him??

No doubt. . . . But isn't his no-trade for the 23/24 season? . . . meaning it's not effective yet until July 1st. (?) Not saying the Kings would make such a jerk play by trading him, but I could see the Jets wanting him over others as salary coming back.

Seattle may very well be interested in Hanifin, but it's likely a non-starter if Evans is involved . . . Evdn more unlikely with only 1 year remaining on Hanifin's deal. Kraken likely to have little interest in Vladar, also.

4 years at 3.6 million and change makes for a probable 'no thanks' from Seattle. Factor in he's a winger, Seattle's deepest position, and I'm sure it's an even easier no.

Did you ask Crosby about the first trade??!! lol Guentzel is a heck of a player but I'm just not sure Seattle would make this move. (?) Assuming firstly that he doesn't put Seattle on his 12 team no-trade list, the bigger question is would he want to sign an extension and what would that look like. (?) Rutta has next to zero value to the Kraken over their current RD, especially at that cap hit for 2 more seasons, and the prospect does little for Seattle either, I imagine. Of course, in Pittsburgh's perspective, that is not nearly enough return for a top-line winger, especially with retention, so I can't see Dubas doing it either.

Jets should have no interest in Miller given his salary and the evidence re: his behavior with teammates and so on. Lowry is extremely valued moving forward for what he brings to the team.
Seattle does not have cap issues and would likely not trade high draft capital to extract Driedger. A buyout would only leave them with a $500,000 cap hit for next season.

Per Dubas

Quoting: jfkst1

LeBrun said they want to trade Wheeler, but he has a five team NTC and they might buy him out instead if no trade materializes. You think WPG ownership wants to eat dead money? Chevy said he wants roster players not futures either. All in all, not looking like WPG has ANY leverage whatsoever. I do think fair in this context would be PIT adding a pick, but you aren't getting fair value on Wheeler either.

WPG's ownership might not want to eat dead money, but might not want to pay 11 million (actual dollars---5 million AAV) by acquiring Granlund instead of the 8.25 owed Wheeler, either . . . unless, of course, Chevy is somehow convinced (doubtful) that Granlund makes the Jets a better team. Mind you, Granlund's dollars would be spread over 2 seasons . . . So who knows. Maybe ownership is just that frugal! (Co-owner David Thomson was recently listed as the 4th richest sports team owner in the world.)
But when Chevy said he wanted roster players to remain competitive, fairly confident he was talking about the return on higher value assets like Dubois & Hellebuyck, maybe even Scheifele.
Addition by subtraction, sometimes. WPG might have to retain on Wheeler (up to 4.125) to get a more favorable return, or buy out is 5.5 million, but either option comes in less than 11 million . . . so again, leverage or not, unless Jets really like something about Granlund's game, the trade proposed is bad business.

Sprong could probably be had as his production with limited minutes last season likely means he's due a promotion, both financially and in playing time, which Seattle is lkkely not prepared to offer him.

You're probably right. Homer thing to say! Whether Dunn is a "stud" or not, he had a great season, and while acquiring Hanifin would be awesome, I think if Seattle essentially traded Dunn to get him would be a slight downgrade and a mistake.

I like Lindholm, alot, but I also think he may be slightly (just slightly) mis-cast as a first-line center in Calgary. He had a great offensive year centering two elite wingers with career seasons in 21/22, which certainly raised his value. I believe Calgary showed that by signing Kadri, also, expecting him to be the 1C, but hey, I might be wrong.
Anyway, pretty sure Seattle is very optimistic that 1C belongs to Beniers, and that Wright becomes the 2C in the very near future. But regardless, it is again, ultimately, too prohibitive a cost in your proposed trade to essentially swap quality d-men and ship out Seattle's top prospect and top 4 picks, along with one of Seattle's MVP's for Lindholm and Kylington, IMO.

I wonder if that is one of the more expensive goalie tandems in nhl history!!! (?)
Adding Lindholm and Hanifin (with extensions) would certainly be intriguing. Great players that I both really like . . . but that cost is just WAY too much and I can't see Francis doing it. Forget the fact that Calgary would be getting a stud blue-liner in Dunn---lets just say that it's a wash with Hanifin as a return, though that might be generous---and then there's Gourde who makes any team better, as well as all that potential in Wright out the door . . . add to that you basically want to wipe out all four of Seattle's top-end draft picks this year, one of the deepest drafts in a long time. I think Kraken ownership would regret Francis' extension after just such a trade!

No point in tying up cap next year when you might need it, vs now when you definitely don’t. All while saving real dollars, which does matter to a small market team like the jets.

I agree, the actual dollars definitely matter to the Jets. Not sure of your point, though . . . you start by saying the Jets don't need cap space next year, then you go on to say they may need it next season as a reason to trade him and retain half his salary. (?) And you say they can easily retain on him and move on; I think it's likely that the same can be said about buying him out---if the owner can stomach the extra million or so, of course! It's quite doubtful they'll be flirting with the cap ceiling next season, especially if/when the cap rises as predicted.
Anyway, I'm sure we'll have our answer soon enough! But hey, if they can get some team to deal a 2nd rounder for him, absolutely they should retain half his salary and bd done with it!!
(Again, it just won't be Seattle! Lol)^^

KrakenTheCode didn't say one way or another that a 2nd Rounder wouldn't be fair value to dump Driedger, just that Seattle wouldn't need to pay it based on their cap situation. Furthermore, if they really want him gone, they could easily buy Driedger out and it would only cost them $500,000 against the cap this season. . . . Save them whatever draft capital it might cost to dump him somewhere.
If Seattle chose to trade Wennberg, I think there's a move somewhere that would make more sense than just gifting him to Arizona . . . especially if Seattle retained on his final year.
