GMJG Good or lucky Moron
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AJC13</b></div><div>GM Jeff Gorton is great and your an unlucky moron for thinking otherwise! This trade was not available in the offseason... NYR did not know Panarin would sign with them until July 1st. If Panarin didn't sign as a UFA, Namestnikov would have a spot on the team. After July 1st teams wanted to see how their planned roster played out in the preseason and the start of the year before trading for a player like Namestnikov. Even after the Panarin signing Namestnikov was insurance for a Center, LW, and RW, in case the Rangers Yutes didn't look as good as they are looking right now. An Ottawa 4th round pick is more like a late 3rd round pick and NYR is also trying to improve their AHL team and they in addition acquired a home town boy (shout out to Livingston NJ!) who's slots right in as a right handed RD in Hartford. Not to mention Ottawa only asked for 3/4 of a $million in retained salary, which is a lot less than NHL teams were demanding in retained salary in the offseason. Quit compiling about Gorton! He's one of the better GM's in the league and knows much more about hockey than you do.</div></div>
Totally spot on, great analysis!

No need to include Lindgren. Either get a <strong>2020</strong> 1st rounder at deadline or extension for no more than 5 yrs (highly unlikely).

Stall's been a great Ranger but hes done after next year....
Maybe this 21-22 team is more realistic?

Trade Deadline
I like Kreider too and if he were to stay, would definitely get the C. However, he will probably get a Hayes like contract somewhere and @ 28 yrs old, NYR should offer a max of 5 yrs/6.5 AAV. Otherwise go get at least a 1st round pick and prospect @ trade deadline.

Tony D was a mistake
Highly doubt he will be getting a 7 yr/49 mil contract extension with NYR, unless he is a Norris finalist (highly unlikely)! It is definitely very encouraging that he played well last night and the end of last season. If he keeps up the good work, then maybe he gets a nice bridge deal (4M AAV) or gets shipped out @ trade deadline while his stock is high. No reason to give him a huge contract extension yet nor is he worth it. Hopefully, he brings the good work ethic/attitude and has a CONSISTENT season!

Next Year
Would love to keep Kreider for a "discount." Unfortunately, he will probably receive a Hayes-like contract!
Also, we can't even get a bag of peanuts for Smith lol!

19-20 NYR Trade Deadline Firesale
Yes I agree, they would try to get some prospects as well. A nice combo of picks/prospects will make the bright future even brighter.
Also, I wouldn't be opposed to extending Kreider/Fast for a team friendly deal but the chances are slim thanks to Hayes overpriced contract!

I think I know from past experiences
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky227</b></div><div>since kravtsov has a 2 way contract i can definitely see him starting in the AHL and being pulled when the two teams are relatively close in terms of location. Once a trade happens it's almost a no brainer to pull him up-- rangers haven't had that kind of creativity from a forward in a very long time.</div></div>
Agreed!
Would probably switch Strome to RW and Vlad to LW on 3rd line and get Lindgren ice time in AHL rather than being a scratch. That 3rd scratch spot is probably reserved for Smith!

Next Offseason
Maybe we can get RNH after 20-21 season since he will be UFA and we will have some extra cap space. It will probably cost a lot though.

Sounds about right depending on Howden's preseason and Strome on 4th line instead.

20-21 Rangers w Kreider
Made a quick adjustment and traded Tony D to the Tampa Bay Rangers! I think between Hajek, Fox, K'Andre Miller, Nils Lundkvist, Rykov, Keane, Lindgren, Reunanen, Robertson, Zac Jones.....Tony D is expendable and can be traded at this years trade deadline after signing 1 yr contract. Also, buyout either Stall/Smith next year to create some cap space to resign Kreider and another veteran UFA like Frolik or someone in the 3-4 mil AAV range.
