The thought that a 21 year old player who scores 30 goals in his sleep is the problem is so backwards it's laughable. This is a player who has undeniable talent that's impossible to find, a player you build a team around. Patrik Laine has maintained his 5v5 production, while improving his 200 ft game.... There's no reason to think that won't continue. His PP production has declined, which has strangely enough coincided with the injuries and absence of Dustin Byfuglien at the point... Thier PP is so easy to defend, because it lacks a secondary shooting threat. Nobody is afraid of Neal Pionk's point shot, so the key in on Laine, and reduce his opportunities. It's so simple. Don't give me the "Ovechkin keeps scoring" b.s... Ovechkin has John Carlson back there absorbing a considerable amount of attention.

His 5v5 performance will improve with an upgraded 2C, and better point man on the PP. You don't try to fill lineup holes by creating other lineup holes... This team is already spinning its wheels, why would anyone think it makes any sense to take 30-40 goals off the team in an effort to make them better? It's completely backwards logic.

This offseason, they are a team with cap space, in a flat cap summer... now is the time to add, not subtract.

...

Oh, and Paul Maurice is 100% the problem.</div></div>

Totally agree, I guess a couple nice shifts from
Jansen Harkins has many thinking that Laine is expendable now?... 😃😅😂
