Kakko to Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Racki</b></div><div>Just out of curiosity, what is the price of Lindgren alone? Kakko and this proposal aside.</div></div>
I'd ask for Kaliyev or Turcotte. Obviously NYR would add but I don't see why we'd trade Lindgren otherwise. He's a staple in our top 4.

Doing the math for a Kakko OS match
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Buying out Trouba would give us the 4m to match Kakko alone. Not signing a 6m 2C this summer like most think. Lindgren could easily be traded for a nice return while moving Jones into that spot. It’s going to need to be a 6m+ for them to let him got for picks. Chytil, Goodrow, Reaves all have trade value as well. 4.2M isn’t going to be an issue for the basically extinct OS. If no one did it to TB after Stanley cups for better players(Cirelli, Serg, Cernak) then KAkko is safe</div></div>
Not necessarily. Teams might OS Kakko with the intentions of going for the bigger fishes, so to speak. Lafreniere, Miller, and Chytil would be due after next season, with Lundkvist, Shneider, and Lindgren the year after that. It would really never have been about just Kakko, as he is the smallest fish on the list. With the contract Reaves has, he doesn’t hold much value. For someone who plays between 7 and 11 minutes per game, really only to be a goon, you aren’t getting much for him.
If the Rangers don’t sign a 2C for 6mil, would they bump Chytil up to 2C? Yes it gives them cap space, but the cost would be not being a contender. So is it really worth the Rangers matching an OS to Kakko? With the bigger fish involved in the big picture, no Kakko is not worth it. The worst thing that could happen would be the maximum for a second rounder for 1 year. Much like the KK situation in MTL, if he gets matched, he either gets traded or doesn’t get qualified. I think the Rags take contending for the cup over Kakko.

Excatly my point. You don't have to want Kakko badly, you just offer sheet him to screw Rangers good time. Drury got a lot of work to move this team forwards, they are good on top, but very thin down the line.

My response to the Kakko trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>Yeah Kakko is not a good player.</div></div>
After seeing Bunting be a calder nominee at 26, and Kempe finally breaking out at 25, we have to be patient. Sometimes guys need to figure it out, very few players just get it and stick it out long term. The floors on Kaliyev, Byfield, Vilardi, Kupari, and even Turcotte look safe enough that they will at the very least hold NHLer value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>Kings forward prospects haven’t really done much. Byfield isn’t a good player at the moment Turcotte has been injured and hasn’t made a big jump. Vilardi Probably won’t be much of an impactful NHL player either.</div></div>
Arguably neither has Kakko, it's an investment in what you project the player to be like, similar to what the Hurricanes did to get Kotkaniemi.

I agree Kakko should be offer sheeted, but the Kings have so many prospects that I don't want them to open that can of worms.

You can have Kakko for 2nd round compensation on offer sheet. Rangers can't / won't match 4,2 offer. Why trade for him ?

Interesting
If Stevie signed Trochek I'd still keep Suter and move him at the trade deadline because he's a rental. With Fabbri out we shouldn't be trading scoring away. Suter is an ideal 3C and I think Ras is better on the wing. I get that we need to give Veleno some minutes at C. I think I'd just wait until the trade deadline to move Suter.
We're not getting both Trochek and Copp. LOL Rutta is only good with Hedman. Pass on him. Mango yes please. I'll even take the caveman for a season to get Mango. I don't like Ryan Murray. No on Desmith. I'd love Hague but Stevie has never signed a player to an offer sheet so I can't see him doing it now. But I do wish more GM's would do it. It's not illegal. LOL
I got excited seeing Sebastian Aho on your team. Too bad it's the bad one. LOL
Berggren should be on the team but he'll have to earn a spot at training camp. 👍

I would from Nashvilles end during next offseason when Jeannot needs a raise. I think L’Heureux would be close to ready and he’d replace a lot of the grit Jeannot has

Defense definitely isn’t the best, but I could see a conference final just because of Oettinger and the teams fire power on offense

Offseason
I like most of the moves (the Chychrun trade is clearly the right value to me) but as <a href="/users/KPM12" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@KPM12</a> says, I think that many of the new contracts are too low (particularly Anderson and Edler).

Keeping them
Value seems fine for Kapanen but don't see a fit with the Devils, got too many middle six wingers as is.
Also, Perron, Kane and Letang all get more money than what you signed them to.

Very deep team that likely would go very far in playoffs. But a little unrealistic as guy's lime Kempe, Robertson, Hintz, Toews, and probably even Moore are all significantly underpaid
