Great deal, Cale got 9x6 and getting Fox for that extra year and only 500k more is a huge W.

New York Rangers signed Mika Zibanejad (8 Years / $8,500,000 AAV)
Classic NHL contract these days, have to push out the term to get the AAV manageable. Teams are willing to deal with the asset management of offloading a contract like this in year 7 or 8 if they can compete for years 1-6.

The amount of "this is an overpay" comments I am seeing for a 3 year/2.5 mil AAV is mind boggling. It literally is the perfect contract for a 29 year old 3rd pair D man.

Fair response, Soucy is not one I’ve heard a ton about until recently. Very varying opinions from what I’ve seen so wasn’t sure his value for the wild and saw he was exposed so may be had for a decent price.
Strome was put in because the Eichel rumors, figured it would be a fall back plan for a top 6C and Jones is a highly regarded puck moving D to help fill the void.

Pelech will get more than 4, Beau is probably getting more than 3.5, Suter probably a good chuck more then 750k.
I don't see Landeskog for the Isles but could see a combo of Suter and Parise, maybe Tarasenko if they offload Leo or Eberle.

Completely fair if Ottawa doesn't think it's a fit, more of a Rangers trade in theory. Point I was looking for was a cheaper middle 6 winger to plug in to move Buch, Connor Brown type of player.

Hard to tell, wouldn't be surprised any dollar amount. I was figuring he would be seeking 8-9 mill, gives 7 mill for 8 year deal with NMC.

They very well need to add more, but it's not the price you and some are saying. 0% chance Lafreniere is in that trade. Swap Kakko in maybe, or add Buch to it.

But he does want to leave and he's injured. They are going to trade him at the worst possible time. Read the description, I was just seeing how it could work out to keep both. I don't trade for Eichel unless Zibanejad is asking for too much $.

10 million with a neck injury is not what I would call a fair cap hit. Very public and messy breakup between the team and player usually doesn't lead to maximizing return.

Because he forced himself to the Rangers as it's the only team he wanted to play for? I have no idea what he is going to ask but he's definitely going to give the Rangers some sort of discount.

I don't think the Rangers should go for Eichel unless they know Zibanejad is asking for 8.5+.
As for the Eichel trade, all rumors have them lowering their price and I don't think they are going to get an offer that people think they might. Sabres have little to no leverage right now.

I'm interested to see Suter's deal. Parise I think will sign somewhere where he can win for cheap but Suter value wise could still make 3,4,5 million AAV. Does he give a big discount to try to win?

I think so too, 5 million probably over longer term but 6 mil would at least force their hand to match on the higher side and eliminates any hometown discount.

Could be! They probably will want to lock Laf up longer term if he shows he can be a legit #1 and that could drive his price up over 5,6,7 mil.
Kravtsov and Kakko have very little leverage right now a year away from RFA. Nils is 3 years away and this could a very different roster by then and we have no idea what kind of player he will be. Jones I don’t expect to be making much or even be on the team in 2 years.

I mean impossible to tell, half of them have played less than 10 NHL Games. Laf has 2 years to bump up his contract, Kakko’s contract will very much depend on how his next season goes, if he has another subpar year he will be signing a pretty reasonable bridge deal.

Tbh haven’t seen him a ton, just know he fits the “mold” of what I think this team needs. Defensively gifted. 2C, who is entering their prime at a good cap with playoff experience.
Denault as a UFA would also be a fit but expect him to get a healthy contract with this run.
