(CBJ/WPG) - Dubois and 3rd for Laine, Roslovic
What a bananas trade. I feel like CBJ made this trade from an asset standpoint and not necessarily because they think Laine will fit. Roslovic is a very underrated part of this deal, as I think he is a perfect fit for CBJ/Torts in the long term. Laine I think fits well for about 3 months and then looks to leave again, which CBJ can cash in again on.
PLD will do well in WPG, I could see his frustrations carrying over there however, WPG must have some knowledge that he will be happy back in Canada and wasn't necessarily needing a bigger stage.
4 years from now I think we look back and its obvious CBJ won this in a landslide, with Roslovic a staple in the CBJ lineup and tons of assets acquired from flipping Laine.

I'm a Rangers fan, and no chance Ducks do that.
For both Lindhold and Rakell youre giving up at least Strome, Tony D, one of Robertson/Jones/Barron, and a 1st.

Kings aint offering Byfield. Laine is off his ELC and also wants out, not nearly as valuable as Laf/Kakko right now.

Don't disagree at all, I would be doing the same thing as you. But I have a feeling this is a Game 1 against rookies type of move and not something he will do all season long.
(As a NYR fan I hope he keep RJ on the 3rd line all season)

Opening night lineup
It seems like Trotz is trying to bring the heavy hitters to the first game, which kind of makes sense. NYR will be playing with a lot of young players and a few rookies, Trotz is going to try to play structured and try to disrupt the young guns with physicality.
With no pre season or chemistry built up for the Rangers, I think it's going to be a little chaotic for them and this will add to it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating622</b></div><div>That probably means that its not enough apparently!
NYR would need to move a contract to any deal to add PLD & CLB was 28th in PPG's last year, TD's 19 PPP & 53 overall points aren't nothing to sneeze at.
NYR are thin at C organizationally as far something to offer back at that position.</div></div>
I think it's fair, it really comes down to what CBJ values and I think Torts would love a guy like Howden. I think CBJ fans are expecting a kings ransom (which they should) but how many NHL trades have we heard rumored that the reality is always less than the expectation?
CBJ will have its bidders, but I think NYR have a strong offer with 1 of Strome, Tony D, or Buch/ Chytil or Howden/ and a top prospect and pick.

Pld trade
I think we as fans are hyping up the value of PLD too much now. How many times do we hear rumors of a player on the move and think of all the assets they will get in return, and the actual move is always underwhelming.
PLD is a commodity every team wants. Young, Center, strong at both ends of the ice. But CBJ has lost all leverage and teams will have to make room for a $5 mil cap and more room to lock him up longterm.
I do agree that NYR would probably have to bump up the prospect here, but to say this isn't close to the value with a legitimate 2nd line winger, high ceiling young 3C, and a prospect and pick, is probably going to let you down when the actual trade goes through.

1st point will game 1 on an assist to Julian Gauthier who scores the first NYR goal of the season.
1st goal will be game 3 against the devils.

Like I mentioned in the description, Chytil originally in (who is valuable) but Howden is a Torts player to a T (less valuable imo).
Kravtsov is one of the Rangers top prospects, only a year removed from TSN's #1 prospect in the NHL. Definitely not a scrap.
Strome a place holder for 2 years.
Totally can see CBJ declining or wanting a different/additional prospect. Add Robertson in if you think it's lopsided or rotate Nils Lundqvist in if you aren't high on Vitali.

Some players are off the books, but the Isles will also need to sign a lot of players before they are off. Plus, lots of $ still tied up with Lee, Eberle, Pageau, etc by that time.
For sure can work around it, but will need to lock in Sorokin, Pulock, Pelech, Beau all right before that.

Good deal for both. Barzy has to be happy with $7 mil before he even get his big pay day, Isles are happy to still have him as an RFA. I do have a feeling the Isles might regret not being able to lock him up longterm at the end of this deal. They will be looking at a 7x11 and they still have a lot of guys on the books in 3 years and other players they need to sign.

That is what I figured, especially with Suzuki and Kot down the middle and Denault a year away from UFA. I thought that might be a good fit for TDA and Lias to start over.

I've seen some say Monahan for Buch, I think that's very much lopsided the other way. Other C's I would look at are Wennberg, Haula, Cirelli (obvs long shot)

Tougher to play against-JD
Totally fair, but Bennett is a 2 way Center who would immediately make us better defensively and is a historically good playoff performer. On a cheap deal I could see JD being interested in him and Chytil and Bennett being the middle 6 C.
Smith/Fast I agree with, reason I signed both is they both can move up and down the lineup relatively easily. I don't think Kravtsov is NHL ready yet, probably a year away still, the Fast/Smith deals allow them to be exposed to the draft or relatively easy deals to move if Kravtsov comes up and becomes a mainstay.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Philu916</b></div><div>Here’s the thing, Bennet is having a nice playoff but is this him maturing and getting better in the league, or is this due to long layoffs with the whole league? It’s kind of hard to throw a 12 pt player in 54 games to a 2C role the following season. Absolutely nothing against a Craig Smith signing, but having both Smith and Fast totally buries Kravtsov. Can’t do that. Even if Kravtsov plays 3/4 line he needs to play this season. I think it’s either Smith or Fast and let Kravtsov be the other RW. I do assume the idea is that Seattle would take one of those 2 in expansion draft but he needs to develop here not Hartford at least not a full season there. Part of why he went back to Russia. Can’t have that again as he’d never come back at that point.</div></div>

Could see it going either way. Reason I added to the Rangers side is Hanifin's contract is very reasonable for 4 more years.

New York Rangers signed Chris Kreider (7 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
Term is the only issue, 5 years would have been ideal, thought they'd settle on 6, but ended up 7.
The Rangers have the prospects, they have the assets, but they don't have the experience and veteran leadership championship teams have to have. Locking up Kreids means this team chose the direction they want to go and I agree with it. Selling off this deadline would push the window back another 2-3 years, with a few minor tweaks this offseason and adding some veteran depth, this team could make the playoffs next year.
Also, in 1 year like 25 mill is coming off the books for the Rangers. This is a move knowing full well they only have 1 more year until they can make major moves and capitalize on prime Kreider,Panarin,Zibanejad.

It's fine, a slight over payment in term and $, 5 yr $5.5 AAV was what I was kind of expecting so not too far off. Brock has never been a hometown discount type of guy.
I don't buy the people saying it's a great deal because he would have gotten 7 mil plus on the open market though.
