Again you have the inability to read. (not that can blame you) I gave my valid opinion on Barrie's one year as a Leaf. I never commented on his years after being a Leaf.</div></div>
Yes let's judge a player based on one year where he played under a coach who hated him.
Seriously man.

He said in his last press conference he was considering moving one of them and every reputable Toronto analyst from Kyper to Mirtle said he has a trade in place for Marner or Nylander and Shanahan wouldn't allow it.

Would have been a really bad move on the Kings part if that were to happen, I mean all 3 of the Kings players fit in under Marners cap hit alone.</div></div>
At the time Samsonov was coming off a strong year. Most were projecting a long-term deal for him.
The value isn't far off when you look at what they paid for Dubois (Iafallo, Kupari, Villardi, 2nd).
Their team is much better with this deal than the PLD one.

If players ONLY played for hometowns - which team is most stacked
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Yep, Toronto has done the same. Slowly hamlets were incorporated into Toronto or other outlying areas. at the end of 1800s and early 1900s.
A big change was in 1954 when Metropolitan Toronto was established (current Toronto borders). Police/fire and other services mergers into one. Still there were 13 "boroughs" within the city with lots of independence. Then I believe in 1969,,,,those 13 went down to 7 larger boroughs. Then in about 2005, the boroughs were merged and no longer a Metropolitan Toronto, just Toronto.
Mississauga the city on Toronto's western borders, had it's major incorporation of different towns in the 1984 (I'm guessing)</div></div>
Nobody cares.
Just use the leagues.
If they played in the Greater Toronto Hockey League they are from Toronto.
It's really that simple.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Yeah and if you want to include the GTA then that opens the door for Montreal to include the Maratimes since they are the closest team and most maritime players grew up Habs fans</div></div>
What is this logic?
If Toronto gets its Metropolitan area then Montreal can have theirs. Doesn't mean they get 1/3rd of the country suddenly.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Just a note, IMO Barrie was the worse Leaf Dman in his one year as a Leaf. Terrible defensively. At RHD he was behind Brodie and Holl and all the LHD were superior Reilly, Muzzin and Sandin (or whoever)
As you stated, Acciarli was OK as 4th line winger, but for 2.5 more years, what's the appeal?</div></div>
Do you watch hockey?
Barrie is an excellent D. Did you know he led the league in D points the season after leaving Toronto.
He was likely the best D in the league post deadline last year.
Accari was more than OK, he played 3rd line (not 4th) and dominated his minutes.
Try watching some games.

Aren't you busy being an NHL exec? How big a brain does it take to be totally fake? We've been over this and over this, through several screen name changes, and you STILL have no worthwhile input about this player. Buh bye.</div></div>
The St. Louis way. Ignore facts and data and insult people.
No wonder people love you so much. When former players trash your city and your own players are crying cause of how you treat them it isn't a great look.
But again happy to ignore all that and have you invent whatever BS you need to personally insult me and question me so that you can sleep better tonight. Consider it my Christmas Gift to you.

Defence Upgrade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>Your first two sentences are ridiculous. Just because I live in St Louis doesn’t mean I’m a chef of ravioli or barbecue. Just because you live in Toronto doesn’t mean you’re an expert on hockey. Both are probably far from the truth.
The whole teams xgf and xga percentages aren’t great. It’s called a dysfunctional team. It’s why those stats aren’t as useful as a lot of you ‘geniuses’ like to portray them to be.
Parayko is not a great offensive facilitator. But he’s an extremely and mean extremely effective 1 on 1 defender who lacks help and he chips in 5-10g 20-25 assists a season. That’s not a 2nd pairing defenseman. But I guess I’ll have to defer to you since you are clearly on TSN analyzing hockey since you’re from Toronto</div></div>
You should listen to Carter Hutton on Leafs Morning Take.
He talks about playing in different markets and how in Toronto for example fans know their **** while in Nashville the in arena announcer has to say , " The Press have a 5 on 4 power play after a penalty from..." And how in many US market they cheer at random times in the game cause they just don't understand what is going on.
It does matter where you are. Not a given everyone from Toronto knows hockey but those from Toronto on a site like this likely grew up playing and many played high levels or worked in/around the game at some point.
I've lived in Toronto where there is a rink every 3/4 blocks, Vancouver where there is one in all of downtown and a few California cities where it's easier to find synthetic ice or roller rinks than ice rinks.
Hate on Toronto fans all you want but the main reason they are disliked is because they are smart enough to understand **** and you naturally don't like the guy who can point out all your flaws.

How is Parayko a 2nd pair Dman exactly? And where on Earth do you get toxic from? And what do you imagine are these prime assets in the offer above?
I thought people knew hockey in Toronto. This stuff is embarrassing, guys. Still.</div></div>
Yea, it embarrassing to use your brain instead of your heart when evaluating players.
All the numbers backup Parayko being a borderline NHLer.

Seattle trade is a joke. Larsson isn't in his prime. He doesn't fetch a top prospect + 1st.
Lub trade is decent I think from both sides a 3rd for Bush is just cleaner.
Bogo was pretty public about nor wanting to play in TO after he left and he has a NMC. Maroon for a 6th is cool tho.

Marners full no move clause says "Why hello there"</div></div>
Marner's NMC is an issue we can debate forever. If the Leafs want to move him they can. Guys with NMCs gets moved every year.
On Kane/Perron. It was an all in move. At the deadline we were #1 in Goals Against. The Goaltending and Defense were buzzing. Losing Marner killed the offense we were 17th so the move was a big pay to get two guys who could instantly add depth and an elite scoring touch to the lineup.
I'm only through round 1 of the playoffs but Tavares and Kane are leading the team in points (12 in 6 games). So it was it good deal, Matthews/Nylander had 4 points in 6 games. Without the trade it's likely a 1st round exit.
