nucks 2425
Canucks fan here,
I'm curious what your opinion would be on trading Boeser as opposed to Garland this offseason if his value is at an all-time high from the number of goals he is on pace to score.
Frees up a top-6 spot for Garland and should be able to fetch a solid prospect in return and tons of salary cap room to play around with for the remaining roster vacancies.
Also no extensions for Stud or Johansson?

Who would you like to see the Canucks select in this year's draft?
Hey everyone, I was just going through Pronman's top 100 prospects for the upcoming draft and was wondering what everyone's preferences would be for potential Canucks selections.
We have picks number 11, 75, 89, 105, 107, 119, and 171.
Here's what I would like to see us do with at least the first three picks:
(Note: I'm putting an emphasis on BC-born talent here)
11 - Matthew Wood
75 - Connor Levis
89 - Hoyt Stanley
171 - Sawyer Mynio
Would love to hear your opinions and preferences.

Forgot about that pesky thing known as the salary cap, seems like just Kerfoot wouldn’t make them compliant either, at least the trade value is close in terms of future.

I can see what you're saying, but as mentioned above this trade is purely business in swapping Schenn for Hamonic who is a worse dman + costs mores while adding a prospect or draft pick to our cupboard.

Fair enough on the Jarventie front, I am basing this trade on Friedman's report that the Sens are looking to upgrade the d-core on the trade market. Not only does this trade immediately improve Hamonic into Schenn, but also adds cap space to make a corresponding move. Would a lesser prospect or draft pick get it done from your perspective? Ostapchuk/Pettersson/Johansson?

Gotcha! I just know they are looking for a top-6 forward to replace Bailey and DIYed it a bit. Thanks for the reply and for giving me some insight into the Isles lineup.

You’ve got a completely fair viewpoint. I wasn’t sure if Nelson was a natural winger or center but with Raty showing great progression since being drafted I can see what you mean regarding the center position long-term.
Thanks for the reply.

Retention was the only way the trade could be approved by the registry at this point in the season because of the Star's cap space, but honestly, I think the canucks would retain $1M on Boeser to get the 2nd.

JT Miller Trade Proposal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Schenn is definitely a player of interest for his physicality and contract. But we are already set at 3RD and 7th D so he would have to play 2RD. Ideally he is on your third pair, no?
It would probably look like this
Dumoulin-Letang
Matheson-Schenn
POJ (assuming pettersson is traded) - Ruhedel
Friedman
The problem being that is kind of a weak D core. It has three pairings that complement each other very well, but unless POJ comes out the gate hot it probably has 3 bottom pair caliber guys in the top 6 (ruhwedel, schenn and POJ). This would allow us to pay our forwards more though. If we wanted to go for a crazy second line which I think would be a lot of fun it could work. I will make an ACGM of what it would look like from pitt perspective, what do you have schenns value at so I know?</div></div>
I think I agree with you assessment that Schenn is a bottom pair defenseman at this stage in his career. He brings physicality and strong defensive awareness but the wheels are likely to start falling off soon.
He definitely holds trade value as a #5 defenseman (right handed as well), but I’m not aware what exactly it would take in return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Would be shocked if Pitt traded Poulin. It makes much more sense for Kapanen to be the forward coming back in a miller trade. JR loves him and has said they want more speed in VAN.
The base trade which I think is fair is
Kapanen +1st + Marino --> Miller (no $ retained)
any alteration to that trade would just mean equal value added to the other side IMO</div></div>
I could see that happening, as Vancouver could use another right shot in the top-9. Do Pens fans see Schenn as a short-term replacement for Marino in the top-4 that adds value to the deal?

Canucks fan here with my two cents, Hagelin cap dump = 3rd rounder, Kempny cap dump = 4th rounder, Miller is worth the equivalent of 3 first-round picks without retention and 4 first-round picks with retention, in my opinion. We want Iorio because Coquitlam boy and right-handed defenceman need, otherwise let's do draft picks.
Canucks Receive:
Vincent Iorio
Carl Hagelin
Michael Kempny
2022 1st Round Pick
2022 2nd Round Pick (WPG)
2022 3rd Round Pick
2022 4th Round Pick
2023 1st Round Pick
Capitals Receive:
JT Miller
This likely never happens because it is a crazy price but we're talking about a bonafide top-line player who is strong at both ends of the ice as well as both special teams, while being a strong locker room character. So he better net an insane price if he goes at this deadline.

As a Canucks fan, declined, counter with Iorio (Coquitlam boy), Hathaway (Need a right-hand winger), 2022 first, 2023 first, Kempny (Cap Dump). Probably steep but I don't want to trade Garland.

No, you're 100% right that Florida will be looking to trade him, but the reasoning I believe is behind it is they can't really afford to give him a raise this offseason because of the Yandle buyout. He'll get moved but likely for picks or prospects instead of bringing money back in.
