I subtracted $2.8M w Kravstov and Mikkola, ARZ retain $1M on Chychrun. We will have $1.6M extra by the deadline. The cap math should work.

Finishing touches
Yeah i mean, Kravstov for just a 5th is really an absurd notion. At the least, we get a 2nd in return. The guy has actually been decent in limited action, but just isn’t in good standing w the club owing to previous years’ behavior. Imo, he still projects as a highly probable top 9 forward. Just needs to add strength. Sad NYR couldn’t develop him properly as he has the NHL talent, unlike Lias.

NYR 2024-25 Starting Roster Revised
On Goodrow / Kravstov trade, it is basically a cap-controlled Kravstov (who would be an immediate plug in top 9 player for the Sharks - he just hasn’t been given a shot to develop this year bc of their win-now mode) for a 2nd rounder, and the Goodrow piece is not a pure salary dump - SJS would essentially be getting a 2024 3rd in exchange plus a 4th for a 2025 3rd. Maybe youd have to sub in a conditional /2nd for the 3rd, but i dont think the deal is that far-fetched as constructed. But yeah, Remove the 2025 3rd that comes back to NYR and it’s pretty fair

Are you a SJS or NYR fan? This is way too steep. I think the steepest Drury goes in for Meier is a 1st, Kravstov, a conditional 2nd (that converts to 2024 1st if we reach SCF), a legit D prospect - I gather right D is a need (e.g. Ty Emberson), and another pick (4th rounder)...

Ranger fan here... I would say this DeBrincat trade is pretty laughable. In what TDL market has an underperforming fringe top-line winger ever commanded such a haul? Cmon man. I don't think the Rangers should target him at all, but, if they did, the deal would be a 1st and a 2nd, and perhaps one of their prospects not named Othmann.

Kuzmenko to Rangers has some appeal if he's able to play the right side. Maybe the deal is more like a 1st and a conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if they make it to the SCF. Or a 1st and 3rd plus a d prospect

2024 2nd rounder is conditional, becoming a 2024 1st if Rangers make it to SCF
Ty Emberson is a low key good right-handed defensive prospect (22 yo, former 3rd round pick having a great season in Hartford)
This would be my initial offer to SJS management

I'm a Ranger fan obviously, and I don't want Kane; he's not what we need. Hypothetically, if he were scoring at .8 p/g instead of .5, I think the package would be a 2023 1st, Kravstov, and a conditional 2nd or 3rd that would convert to a 1st if he won the Cup at 50% retention

LOLZ - the Carpenter slot was an oversight. With Gauthier returning from IR, I would slot him in on 3rd or 4th wing, and either Vesey, yes Jimmy Vesey, retains his top six role. That third line would be best in league (assuming Laf returns to some level of his 2023 playoff form) - interchangeable with the 2nd (and most likely sees more 5v5 time than the second. Gauthier has been showing top 9 flashes so yeah i feel comfortable with that forward lineup. Look, I also don't think this is our "1 shot" or "last shot." We have to move Panarin or Trouba over the next two years to sign a boatload of RFAs, but that core and Igor make the NYR competitive for years to come, even with the loss of a 1st rounder this year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RangerRan18</b></div><div>Valid points, although I think the TDL market last year was exceptionally hot. Kravstov is not a 4th liner, granted he's not a proven top sixer yet. SJS would be able to sign him cheaply and would undoubtedly slot him into their top 9, if not six. Your point about the low first rounder is valid. Rangers unwilling to part with Othmann, but let's say the package also included our 2024 first and a D prospect or Will Cuyllee (so a 23 1st, a 24 1st, a former 10OA playing in his first NHL season, plus a 2nd round prospect. Would that get it done? I think so.</div></div>
Also, important to note, the Copp trade was for two conditional 2nd round picks (one that converted to a first because we made the ECF), Morgan Barron (a 2nd round prospect equivalent like Will Cuyllee), and a 5th rounder. So the above package I lay out is substantially better (to reiterate: two 1sts, a former 10OA that still projects as a top 9, and 2nd round propect equivalent). I would be willing to bet that the deal would end up being the above but instead of two 1sts, a conditional 2nd (that converts to a first).

What an absolute grim outlook to assume Vimmy Jessey will still be on the 2nd line in 24-25, though... if you are dumping Trouba off, it better be to improve the team, not make it substantially worse as is this team</div></div>
Bumped the cap up to that level. Thank you. So Trouba or Panarin has to be traded before 2024 summer if the Rangers have any designs on signing Lindgren, Kakko, Schneider (all things they should do). I wouldn't count a Trouba trade out from either NYR mgmt standpoint or willing partners (assuming some salary retention) - he's been playing hurt - 2022-23 Trouba is worth $6M / year. Per your point, I've added $2M to the Pesce deal. Maybe it's more like 5 yr/ $5.5M. --- I've also moved Othmann up to the 2nd line (assuming he exceeds expectations) - Vesey above him was an oversight. Maybe there's a scenario where we trade Panarin with retention, freeing us up to add a proven top six winger under $7M. The Trouba dump is essential to sign Lindgren, Schnedier and Kakko.

Okay, so this trade partner was pretty arbitrary based on Trouba being from Michigan. Fair point. In any case, I do believe the Rangers will be able to find a trade partner for the Captain with a retained salary agreement.

valid point. I don't think Rangers part with their underperforming 1OA for a rental. Sub in a 3rd rounder for the 4th AND include a prospect like Zac Jones or Will Cuylee and I think the deal absolutely gets done. Even the 1st + Krav (10th overall RFA that is progressing) + a 3rd could be enough. Obviously all depends what Devs or other suitors can offer

Rangers doesn't have the cap space for Timo Meier long term so he's a rental, And that offer would be easily beaten by teams like New Jersey and others.
You can do retention here. And you're over the cap by some $5,600,000 good luck with that.</div></div>
Actually, not really. By the TDL, Rangers will have accumulated $6.-7M in cap space to add players. If you net these trades out (it is under that number). Yes, he's a rental, but any team that acquires him will be able to recoup assets next summer by trading his RFA rights. I'm assuming you meant CBJ rejects trade. What then will he command? a first and a second. They would have to consider a package that includes the 23 2nd and Cuyllee and Zac Jones.
