Trades at the deadline

Would you say a first and Appleton is a fair return for Hayes? Obviously not getting someone of Vesalainen's caliber but they're going to fetch a good prospect in a trade for Hayes.

I didn't want to overshoot but if avs had to add something then that's doable. I think Buch needs to go at this point. Effort isn't consistent, can't get off the fourth line even without AV here

Rangers have put him at wing before. He looked pretty good there but at this point in his career he's gonna look better at center. If caps are in market for top 6 winger swap him for Kreider and add a bit more to caps side of the deal since he's got another year and a team friendly contract?

Keep Hayes
I agree that keeping Hayes is a good idea, but what do you do with all of the centers? Can Lias really stay on the fourth line forever? And is Chytil gonna be a winger?
Good problem to have though. I'm all for it. Pretty happy with how rebuild has shaken out so far.

9th overall a bit much especially for a team that hasn't been in the first round too much. Need to get more players in the system with draft and with that pick someone who could have a nice impact on a rebuilding team. Agree that vlad could definitely help out offensively along with drafting svechnikov 2nd overall.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Liamthepro</b></div><div>Man, he's not saying Gardiner = Burns or Karlsson.
Gardiner is pretty good, and would help just about any team's D, that goes double for a Rangers team selling off McDonagh to follow Holden.
Rangers told their fans they will sell off players, they are already awful. You hope they are trying to rebuild right? This deal would sure help</div></div>
I know he isn't. My point was Burns and Karlsson are elite and therefore they're turnovers matter less.
Of course Rangers are trying to rebuild. The value of the deal is fair, it's just that they're more likely to wait until draft if they don't get a high caliber player at the deadline. Remember if he's traded at deadline, that's two playoff runs and a full season of him.
Done arguing with you. Maybe we think differently, but your head seems to be farther up your rectum than mine.

Just traded Holden for a 3rd and an empty contract, but you are cluelessly babbling about Marner and Liljegren...</div></div>
Not cluelessly. Gorton doesn't have to trade Mcdonagh. I don't think he is looking to add a 26 year old in a rebuild. He's only going to accept an overpayment at the deadline (i.e. if the Lightning were to give up Sergachev).
Otherwise, he will revisit at draft. Maybe this trade works at the draft. But certainly not now.

Fair point. It's just that Rangers defense is so bad that Gardiner is not the proper answer. Also, Burns and Karlsson have a much higher skill set than Gardiner. It's hard to compare them to him.

I looked up gardiner's stats. 83 giveaways for a defenseman 62 games in is pretty awful. To take that plus a 4 million cap for another year isn't great. Leafs have to add something to sweeten the deal. Rangers already have enough turnover machines on defense.
I think a deal not involving Gardiner would interest rangers, however. Depends what comes back though, and what Lamoriello is willing to part ways with. Liljegren and Marner immediately come up and Rangers would want one of them. And I highly doubt either of them are going anywhere.
In short, a trade between this teams likely won't work.

Rangers Deadline
Someone is going to say nash trade sucks, but I've seen so many different things on here that I guess we have to wait until Gorton makes his move to find out. Change Winnipeg pick to first rounder. Grabner would probably get a pick too from penguins in addition to sprong. Desharnais probably gets a fifth instead.
And now for the McDonagh trade. I really don't think he's going anywhere unless there's a serious blue chip coming the other way. And tampa isn't parting with Sergachev most likely, which would be the only sensible target. In that case, revisit a trade for him at the draft. There's no rush to trade him now.
Pretty solid though. A little off on the picks but most of the trades seem to be about right.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>None of his development has gone unexpected. He was drafted as a big, conservative, stay-at-home defenseman, who is weak at skating and possessing the puck zone to zone. If he meets his expectations he will be a low-middle 6 d-man.
He would be a terrible centerpiece to a McDonagh trade. I'm looking at every other contender here (they wouldn't trade McD within division):
Dallas: Miro
Calgary: Fox
Bruins: Debrusk
Toronto: Liljegren/Dermott
Nashville: Tolvanen
Jets: Roslovic
Blues: Dunn/Thomas/Kyrou/Thompson
Wild: Kaprizov
Avs: Jost
Vegas: Glass/Suzuki/Brannstrom.
Sharks: Lebanc
Ducks: Steel/Kase
Kings: Kempe/Villardi
ANY OF THESE GUYS ARE SEVERAL DEGREES BETTER THAN FOOTE.</div></div>
Yeah obviously. Didn’t say as a centerpiece. Just saying in general.

No reason for Nashville to trade for green. Defense is already good enough and why give up more picks/assets? Also can’t see them trading for both zucc and grabner. Either take out grabner and leave at zucc for first and fabbro or take out zucc and get rid of fabbro and Pettersson

He’s 19. Has been excellent in juniors. You can’t call someone a trash prospect unless their development goes unexpected. Which so far Foote has showed no signs of. Would definitely take him on rangers if trade was right.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhan63</b></div><div>It's certainly a risk, but if you believe this kid is going to be a cornerstone of your team, you might be inclined to trade that pick.
I think Miller is fair. He's struggled this year, but could turn it around with a change of scenery. Stanley is one of WPG's top prospects.
Zucc, I'm not sure what people think of him. I've seen other posts say 1st, B prospect and a 2nd or worse. I've also seen posts where he takes 2 top prospects and a 1st from a team. I chose in the middle</div></div>
Miller trade makes no sense. Struggles are because he is playing center. Also, Stanley is not a top prospect for winnipeg. Would be a risk for Rangers to take him without having other good pieces in the deal.
