Tank for 1 Year

I completely agree, I think Othmann will be as well as Perreault (but the development team is bad). Drury has done some good moves, but there are other times where I scratch my head (like having colton orr, tanner glass and other greats leading the prospect development team). Never will be 100% perfect though, but with the cap space he has to work with and roster, I think he's done an admirable job and done the best he could given the circumstances.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CupChaser</b></div><div>You think you're getting Tarasenko to sign a 1.5 million $ deal?? :tearsofjoy</div></div>
Rumors are coming out that he is willing to take a pay cut and year cut for a contending team. He and his family also really liked New York. Similar to Bergeron like last year, 1.5 million dollar deal to contend for a cup for one year before cap goes up. Realistically no, but if rumors are true, then yes. I also made other posts to show that there are a few alternatives that can be taken.

1 alternative to tarasenko is yamamoto, which will be in a thread titled Moves for Yamamoto

This is with no buyouts and the rumors out there that Tarasenko will take a smaller contract/short-term contract to play with a contender. Buyouts/trade will be on the thread titled Tank and Moves

No, more wishful thinking for Yamamoto, but outside of the Yamamoto (mock signing) and the rfa's of laffy and miller (I also mocked), all these deals are true.

The two key moves are buyout of Goodrow and the addition of a rw1. If this is too low for Tarasenko, then they should pivot to Tatar and offer 4 yrs at 4 million a year.

No reason to deal Laf, Rangers can take him to arb, and not sure he gets much more if anything more than the 2.5 million for a bridge deal stated here (getting more than kakko which he shouldn't, where it should be about the same in my opinion). Even so, that leaves the team with 4.5 million to fill a rw1 spot. Tatar may have to be the guy. Plus I even said early on in the post that I think it is an undervalue, but his injury history makes his contract more of an unknown to me

Just not sure if either is attainable at 4.5 million a season though. Would love to hang on to Tarasenko, but I think he may cost a little too much. I think if the Rangers were closer to 5 million a season it would be more possible.

In my opinion, they still need a rw for line 1, not sure if Tank is possible at 4.5 million a year, but I think compher, or even Tatar may be possible (I currently have Bertuzzi slotted there, but I think it is undervalue for him - just not sure with his injury history).

Otherwise you have 4 rfa's next year to pay. Laf/kakko/miller/schneider.</div></div>
That's a good point about the rfa. I think one player needs to go to arbitration though to buyout goodrow. And I agree, I think sprong may be better as well.

Just as I was told 1.5 million was too little for wheeler in all of my other posts. I think for a chance to play with Panarin again, he would.

It seems almost vital that Goodrow needs to be bought out at this point. I actually think Goodrow has been a really productive player for us, but I think with all of the holes and his contract, this unfortunately spells the end of his tenure with the team.

I can always remove kane, if you look at the rest of the roster it is a bit of overkill. Do the other contracts seem more in line with values?

Yeah, it's because Kane will be out for half the year on LTIR. It's why he doesn't get as much. Duchene was more about the opportunity to play with Panarin again when they both had so much success. Plus I have a little bit of cap space to work with.... check back in 30 seconds to see if it seems more reasonable for contracts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aecliptic</b></div><div>What a horrible comparible. A #1C on a very favorable contract for a guy whose been a middle 6 winger.</div></div>
Again, it's for 1 year of toffoli (who's been their second line rw for the last couple years), for sharangovich and a third. For 1 year of a center of scheifele who was overtaken by PLD last season (second line center), a second and two top prospects I thought was fair. But I might be talking till I'm blue in the face trying to show how this is decent value and get absolutely nowhere. If a first were included (most likely in 2024, then half salary retention would be a minimum)

You're right to be honest. I figured with especially, what calgary just traded toffoli to nj for, this was pretty fair.

The only way the rangers trade laff or kakko for scheifele straight up (1 for 1) is if it's a PLD like trade with a trade and sign. And I'm not sure the team can fit him at the cap hit he may want.
