I submitted something similar last week and Kings fans on here were saying that they have a bunch of RHD prospects so Nils wouldn't be as valuable to them. They do need scoring though so a LHD offensive defenseman, a sniper RW and a second could work. If the Rangers have to include a bit more, I think they do that but not much more

The last guy we'll be trading for is Nils Lundkvist, even though he's a fine prospect.</div></div>
The article I was reading didn't specify which side of the defense that the Kings needed, just that they have lots of center depth and would probably want top D prospects back. For Turcotte, I am sure the Rangers would be willing to part with Miller but not if they have to add much more value. Or they might counter with Zac Jones (A prospect LHD), Matthew Robertson (B prospect huge LHD) and a 1st for Turcotte. At some point, both teams have to move their depth for needs so it could be a nice fit

Turcotte wouldn't help with this playoff run per se but I think the Rangers know they aren't winning a cup this year so it would moreso set them up for the future. Since Smith is so cheap, might as well add him on as a rental for this season just to help add some vet insurance in case Kakko keep struggling

That could work as well if the money fits. Vegas probably does that as well to clear two cap hits at once to get an A prospect in Kravtsov

Hertl would be an upgrade but will also cost more than Strome. I would make the trade but not for as many pieces and it would have to come with an extension that is reasonable.</div></div>
They absolutely MUST extend Hertl for this deal to make any sense and he would slot in right behind Zibs the next 4-5 years. Hertl just brings more than Strome in areas the Rangers would need to win playoff games like faceoffs and defense. Its an expensive price to pay for sure but I think it is worth it for the upgrade...

RW is not too shabby with Kakko, Buch, Kravstov and Gauthier. Very young but lots of potential there

For everyone saying this is a bad deal; its $975,000 per year for 3 years with $2,850,000 in performance bonuses per year that Laf can hit. This is standard for all top drafted players so not sure what people expected.....

Would this counter work? Value is similar but fits the Rangers needs more:
Sharks get: Strome, Georgiev and NYR 2020 4th round pick
Rangers get: 2020 1st round pick (TBL), 2020 2nd round pick (Avs), Labanc

Rangers final 20 games are almost all against good teams and now without Igor, they will fall out of the playoff race. If they finish and their first round pick is around 10, then the pick they get from Carolina is around 22, they could package those picks together, along with a player like Strome and a prospect to move up the 8 spots to grab Byfield. All depends on who is picking 2nd. It won't be as difficult as people think once they come back down to Earth these last 20 games.

The price is the price and there are clearly teams willing to pay it.</div></div>
I am a Rangers fan and this is EXACTLY what the return will be. Same as for Hayes last year. The only negotiation will be which is the best prospect they can possibly get back between a B- and A- type grade. Any team that gives more than that is a desperate overpay and the 1st rounder will be a the 25th - 31st pick. The Rangers will then package that pick with their own 1st to move up and grab someone in a position of need such as LW or C

James Mirtle and Darren Dreger on Twitter are saying neither Johnsson or Kapanen straight up for Georgiev gets it done. I think the Rangers are going to package a couple of players, like Krieder/TonyD/Georgiev all together to get a BIG player this deadline instead of just selling each piece to the highest bidder like past years

Trade works well for both teams:
Senators can showcase Vlad and give him bigger minutes that the Rangers couldn’t. This will boost his value and they can flip him at the deadline for 2020 picks
Rangers get needed cap space AND a roster spot to bring up Chytil or Kravstov ASAP. They take lesser value to make the trade happen now but getting the kids ice time is the most important thing

19-20 NYR Trade Deadline Firesale
These trades look great but I think they will be looking for more ready now talent so that Boston trade for instance, they would probably want a 2020 1st and then a ready now prospect instead of a 2021 2nd.
The other trades they might get a better return if they package some players and mid level picks together to get a solid prospect that would be ready to play in the NHL next year

2019-20
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>Few tweaks:
1. Lias as 3C- centering Names and Strome...Krav starts year in Hartford- not a punishment for him- but allows NYR to "showcase" Names and Strome as 3rd line players so hopefully one or both can be traded by mid season....best case- one or both bring back good value (once the trade market opens up)...worst case- they both tank- in which case waive one of them to make room for Krav at/around Christmas
2. 4C- the "winner" of Howden vs McKegg. If Howden- then he centers Lemieux and Fast- with McKegg as 13F. If McKegg- then he centers the same with Nieves as 13F and Howden starting in Hartford- to get big minutes playing with Krav.
3. Rykov starts in Hartford and Lindgren starts as 7D....but this is only desireable if Lindgren is given a chance in spelling Hajek and Staal to the point where he is playing in about 1/2 the games...any less than that and he is better off playing big minutes in Hartford with Smith in NY watching games from press box.
4. Buch starts on 1st line...Kakko to 2nd</div></div>
I completely agree with this. It sucks that they have to send Kravtsov down essentially because there is no room with Names and Strome, Gorts has to move one ASAP because you can't have your #9 pick from last year not on the big club getting used to NHL speed everyday. Send Smith to the coast and save money that way, guy can't even skate backwards anymore

they still could trade Strome or Names at any minute especially if other teams don't like their center depth or players get hurt in preseason....

Finally as he had zero leverage. This take a ton of pressure off Fox and if TonyD plays well, he could either get a nice extension or get some solid trade value at the deadline. Win win for the Rangers
