Calgary Flames Remake
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Do you mean what would work to get Fabbro to CGY? A He just re-signed with NSH, and without them having re-signed or replaced Carrier, I can't imagine they'd be eager to trade him. Their right side just isn't very deep right now.
If you mean what would NSH give up for Mangiapane: nothing, I hope. That contract stinks. If NSH wants to add some depth scoring, there are much better options. They have a lot of young talent in the A, they could give that middle six spot to instead. Or they could bring Zucker back. He's been a good fit so far, and wouldn't cost close to $5.8M. Neither option would cost NSH trade pieces either.</div></div>
I would rather Flames sign Carrier, Fabbro seems to be a bust.

Because lots of people report Markstrom to NJ is still a thing. It did not happen as Conroy did not want to devalue the team further (until off season) and force G Wolf to lose most of his games (he already is)....it will be interesting when Markstrom lands there for more than what is proposed.

Why because NSH is such a powerhouse who cannot use a 20G 20A guy (check career averages) who can check very well and plays on a top checking/scoring line with Backlund and Coleman? So you don't watch much Flames I am positive.

Can’t see 5 trades, and don’t really understand the point of Dallas one. You would get less for Mangi likely and perhaps more for Lindholm

Flames trade Big 3 for mostly youth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mk458</b></div><div>The stars blueline might actually be worse after that trade. Harley is a part of that teams future and there's no chance they give him up for a 1 year rental for a guy with Tanev's injury history. Love Tanev, but Dallas would not be willing to subtract from their dcore just to add to it</div></div>
I see your point but I was assuming Tanev re-signs for a couple years and DeSimone is perfect 7th D who will play 6 more years unlike Suter and the idea is to win the Stanley Cup ASAP in Dallas. again the salary cap numbers have to work, thus this trade.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>COL isn’t trading Byram for rentals.</div></div> Yah, again, first you overvalue a guy with concussion history and undervalue the 2 Flames…and I would assume both Hanifin and Lindholm re-signs in Colorado, both are excellent core players and not old. Both could help Colorado win Cups for years. Salary caps work too!

Realistic Re-Tool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>So we downgrade on both positions and give up a 2nd? How does that work</div></div>
Yah for Oilers part, not really off-base. Vladar is big upgrade on Pickard and Greer is similar to Foegele (just one less point, solid, and consistent) and this makes the salaries work. Did you forget the salary cap? Some of the other returns are probably assum8ng the players re-sign immediately in those places.

I think both players have major upside if coached well and given gradual opportunities to get more ice time. You can’t teach size also!

I would envision Hanifin on top pair possibly and they would want to re-sign him at up to $7M per year. He’s an upgrade there despite what NJD fanboys think!

After Hamilton and maybe Luke Hughes, your defence is just “meh”…Seigenthaler may not be that good like last year, and rest are mid. Hanifin would be a clear upgrade on left D.

Why? Hanifin gets wish to play in USA and NJ defense improves. Flames get 2 large players with good potential, Bastian is versatile and Bahl is a big D to play pairing 2 or 3. Plus Flames get another draft choice.

Flames-Avalanche help each other
I am Flames fan. Why this trade:
1) This allows Avalanche to get a solid backup in Vladar (as Francouz out awhile), and pull up another player to NHL roster (complex math) by money retention by Flames
2) Flames create cap space for Dustin Wolf and another player to be up in NHL and get cap compliant, and they get 2 draft choices due to retaining salary

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>I think Conroy would get quite a few Hanifin offers at the trade deadline. Any playoff contender would love to add him to their lineup.</div></div>
Again I DO hope you are right. The problem is if Cgy is in or near playoffs at trade deadline, they will want to keep him and then still maybe lose him for nothing at the end of year. That’s what Conroy and Fans want to avoid.
