Understandable, and I agree. If we can offload Johnson with a first I would be okay with that as well. I just feel like if that was going to happen it would of already.

Updated lines after Day 1 of FA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonkeyLips</b></div><div>Finally someone with reasonable analysis of Johnson. He isn't the reason the team didn't have success last year. Was he put into a position to best suit his abilities he performed fine.
You could easily justify hornqvist above rust on the depth chart. Probably Kahun as well. He only has one year in the league.</div></div>
Agreed, I think they are going to give Kahun first shot at playing on the top line because he fit in well with Toews and Kane in Chicago. If it doesn't work out I would imagine McCann is next in line and then Rust and lastly Galchenyuck or Horny. But i really feel like Malkin and Galchenyuck are going to fit nicely together. Read an article from Yohe. Sounds like Johnson is going to be with Gudbranson to start the year. Have a feeling they might go the route Nashville has by sheltering their bottom pairing heavy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrandonDubinskyGOAT</b></div><div>Sullivan is a guy who loves his speed and puck moving defenseman. I think the reason why he plays JJ is because the organization forces his hand. If we see another year of Johnson, it will be a disastrous season, especially if he plays in the top 4.</div></div>
I don't think he will be a disaster but it is not an ideal situation. All we can hope for is for him to be a serviceable 5/6 I guess. After watching a bunch of teams offload bad contracts you have to think Jim is at least going to try to get rid of his. It really isn't a bad cap hit just WAY too long.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrandonDubinskyGOAT</b></div><div>I would like to see McCann on the first line and Johnson scratched. Play Joseph, he is way better.</div></div>
Agree with McCann on the first. I'm sure within the first weeks we will see McCann, Kahun, and maybe even Tanev or Galchenyuck up with Sid. I think Johnson is going to play all 82 if he is healthy unless they can trade him or one of the younger guys is extremely impressive in camp and he is not. Probably would rather see Riikola over Joseph until he puts on some pounds.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MajesticWalrus</b></div><div>Dumoulin is too slow and really doesnt look better if you watch. And brodin has great advanced statistics.</div></div>
So you are essentially proving my point by saying Brodin has great advanced stats but if you take a few minutes to look Dumoulin was better in just about every single category of advanced stat. Calling Dumoulin slow is a first and I watched him all season. He is one of the most underrated Dmen in the NHL.

Dumoulin had a better year in just about every single statistical category including advanced statistics. Not sure where you are coming up with Brodin being a better player.

I didnt take spurgeon. It's Brodin who had like 6 less points than Johnson. Plus MIN gets hornqvist and Jarry since Brodins just good defensively. Guddy is stil an overpaid 3rd pairing guy. Cogliano trade gains cap space and lost picks. Filpulla and hainsey deals are less than what they got paid last season even though they played great last season it's just their age that made me give less. And laine plays on the 3rd line in WPG sometimes 2nd. Liane will definitely not get more than 6 if he stay in wpg since Kyle Connor outperformed him and is also an rfa along with some other names.

Both play in Lethbridge in the WHL. Bellerive leads their team in points and Addison is their #1 scoring Dman. Addison has the potential to be a top 4 Dman and a good PP guy. Bellerive will be in the NHL in the next 2 years probably.

No reason for the Pens to try and get another D man and not ship out one currently on their roster. I think just getting Staal is way more realistic.

I could see them scratching him some games down the stretch but I think in the playoffs him being able to legit play any position, face offs, and penalty kill he needs to be in the lineup.

All fair points, I would imagine Cullen stays in the lineup especially in the postseason. Blueger needs more ice time to full see what he can do but I like him. Like I mentioned above I could see them scratching Pearson or even trading him for a low pick (5th or 6th round).
