As far as Canada goes I have similar observations to some others but I’ll add who stood out positively and negatively:

Positives:

Bedard is a special talent. In fact he’s been so good that our PP seems to rely too heavily on setting him up over the right circle. When we finally started getting traffic in front of the net those shots from the point went in.

Zellweger is by far our best defenceman. He just looks so composed on or off the puck. If he’s in his own end he looks to make his read and get a loose and just smoothly break out of his end or start a quick outlet pass. He’s the real deal.

Cormier- Overall a positive, especially when he has the puck. He’s very dangerous from the point and looks like he will be running PPs for years to come. I’m still a bit nervous about him in his own end though.

Thompson- I give him a positive because we only brought one right handed shot on defence and that’s put a lot on his plate as far as being an option on the PP and on the PK. I think he held up well.

Other forwards not named Bedard who stood out:

Kidney- The kid barely saw the ice but when he did he was absolutely flying. He was hitting and looked possessed on his limited shifts. He needs to be up the lineup next time out.

Greig- He may have ended up in the box twice but that one handed goal and that skating are something else. He needs to be out there more.

Johnson- It’s not just the sexy stick work they show that has me really liking this kid, it’s his compete level without the puck. He always wants the puck and he back checks with vigor. I like him a lot.

Stankoven- He may not have lit up the net but he sure seems eager to get to the front of the net. I think we looked far too passive in front of their net but he was an exception. His support play with the puck was also very impressive. He knew when to make an outlet pass and when to slow it down. I liked his composure.

Dufour- Big and fast kid! His compete and drive play are something else. Get him up the lineup!

Disappointment:

Here are my players who just looked like they were off or not all that interested:

Defence:

Seeley looks like he doesn’t belong out there to me. He wasn’t the worst defenceman but he also wasn’t doing us any favours.

Sebrango- A slightly improved version of Seeley. He was ok enough on those PKs but other than that not impactful 5 on 5

Lambos- He was just lost out there tonight. I know he’s better than that but tonight he was a hindering us

O’Rourke- Another non factor player

Forwards:

McTavish- Ok he had multiple points so why is he not in the other category? As captain of this team I know he’s a much better player than we saw out there. Prior to the 3rd goal where he screened their goalie nicely he was just way too passive and was not using his size out there. It wasn’t a bad performance but he is one of our best players and we need way more out of him.

Roy- ok where should this kid play? Because the Bedard line isn’t it! I’d like to see Dufour or even Stankoven up there as a right handed shot on that line. Roy wasn’t a liability but he contributed little to nothing to that line.

Forester- What a disappointing player. He should be one of the top candidates to not dress. It’s sad to say but I don’t see an impactful NHL player.

Ostspchuk- I’m all for having bigger forwards out there in this era of smaller forwards but you have to be able to play too. This kid is not a great skater and to compensate he has to bring other things to the table. I don’t see those other things.

Cuylle- Another big man that we need more from. I’ve seen this kid and he can play but he was largely missing tonight.

Desnoyers- He can skate and that’s always good. He looked decent on the PK. Maybe it’s a bit harsh to have him here but he’s limited.

Lastly was Cossa… that 2nd goal must be stopped and coming out of your net and nearly blowing it by delaying… a bad night for him
