Right, since Jagr has already pushed off his HHOF nomination time schedule... wouldn't that attract a huge draw!

Leafs get a 2nd to get Tanev deal done
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I was actually just thinking of something similar recently. But I had TOR's 2026 1st instead of the 2024 1st, no 2nd going to TOR, 50% retention on Murphy, Donato going to TOR, and CHI taking back Reaves and Samsonov instead of Jarnkrok. So, TOR would be getting even more value than the 2024 2nd. Interesting... Maybe I was going overboard on giving TOR sweeteners, but CHI has a lot longer way to go than some CHI fans seem to think. So, adding more 1st round picks is pretty valuable to our rebuild, IMO. I never hit publish, though. I'd rather critique other peoples ACGM's than deal with critiques on my own. haha
Also, you're probably gonna have to pay more for Tanev. Given that he is a pending UFA rental and I personally think he is a bit overrated, I don't think he is gonna get as much as CGY fans want, but I definitely think he will get more than that. Especially with the retention.</div></div>
Come-on Garak we want to see what you put together! In a fictional Garak world what would he do?

That Hawks trade is absolutely 💯 a no.
It would be multiple 1st rd picks going to Chicago, not the other way around.

More than a second.
A first and second to take Reeves and Klingberg, now add for Murphy and hawks will throw in Katchouk.

Nope no way but the price NOT SERIOUS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>Sharks would NEVER do this
You trade the 4th OA Smith, the likely 1st OA in 24, plus 2 more 1sts and 2 more 2nds for 1 player. That’s selling the car to pay for gas!!!
I get none of those picks or Smith ever reach Bedard status…. But Smith & Celebrini alone are more valuable to the Sharks than Bedard, and of those other 4 picks I assume at least 2 if not 3 should end up being impactful pieces.
If this team had a Stacked prospect pool and team but needed a superstar I would consider, but the sharks are horrible with 1 quality youngster in the NHL and a couple with some potential and 2 aging stars and one very aged and bad former star (Vlasic) they need lots of high caliber pieces to build with.</div></div>
Good thing it's just a fun hypothetcal post for what would Chicago fans do if SJS offered them this package for Bedard.

Bedard is the main piece, I wasn't caring about the cap coming back, it's a hypothetical value for Bedard.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>You say no because Connor Bedard is already exceeding expectations with a horrible supporting squad. Additionally, the hawks have $50M in cap space next offseason, multiple draft picks in the first 3 rounds (over the next 3 years), and a pretty deep prospect pool. There's no need to make this trade from Chicago's point of view.
Lindros wanted out, the team had no choice.</div></div>
But look at what the trade did for Quebec/Colorado. Lindros didn't want to play for the owner of the Nordiques, had the sale already been in the works would he have stayed?

With the 24 draft, are 2 of the top 4 players equal to Bedard? That is my only thought. The rest is well, magic beans. Bedard is good for business and will be exciting for years to come but could this lead to making a muti championship winning team for years to come?

I think Toronto still needs to add a pick to take Klingberg to be honest. Yes 2 young players and one going back but quantity does not equal quality in this league.

Contender Shift
I honestly don't believe that is enough to take Gallagher, I like the player, but not even a single top 10 pick is enough. Maybe add a 2025 2nd and 2024 3rd? That's a lot of cap being dumped for just a first.

He has never scored 40 pts. & hasn’t scored 20 goals since 2017-18. He would be another bottom 6 player for our collection. I’d rather look to free agency or give the ice time to a prospect to develop. A 6th rounder is very little but why throw it away?</div></div>
Because he is better than a 6th rd prospect...
And actually has higher value with retention to another team I'm sure (*cough* Tampa or Vagas *cough*)

They have the space why not? It's almost a free pick... I would counter with, make it a higher pick (2nd) and no retention

And honestly I knew that experiment wasn’t going to work, he didn’t play center when he was called up last year so I thought it was quite a bad decision</div></div>
But you have to try, and experiment. You don't learn without trying and failing! The team is not trying to win this year, they are working to develop and evaluate what they have and how they adapt and mesh. I'm sure that there will be some moves people will call outrageous, but they will make the team better in the long run!
