Kaut can play with the Sharks day 1 of this season. No room for him in Colorado and he’s got a top 6 upside. He needs the minutes.

Merkley was a risk pick at the time for attitude issues. Idk if that’s an issue anymore, but I can see SJ move on from him for another “project fresh start” player.

Compher is expiring after this season, and Kaut is a fringe NHL player. The main piece is Colorado getting a Finnish young center who's on a good deal for 2 seasons
