Not saying for sure it's a even trade, but trady a 40 goals scorer and 70 pts young guys and a 40-50 pts guys 25 goals scorer for a guy that has not proven even anything yet is still a pretty solide offer. They need players to help Hishier and Hall right away if not they will lose hall next year.

With or without injuries, he had 0.33, 0.44, 0.43, 0.39 pts/ game in the last 4 season before the one that juste finish. One season over 0.5 pts/ game in the last 5 years doesnt make him a 1st line guy. But like I said, nothing would make me happier, but assuming everyone will be as good or better as last year is called dreaming.

Well yes and no, having a good year with a certain line does not garenty the same result the next season. I don't believe shaw will have an other carreer season and will go down the line up. Also, if we happen to get Duchene, we need a goal scorer on the wing for him and Domi and gallagher is our only goal scorer that is why I put him on the top line. Kotkaniemi works good with Armia and so does danault with tatar.

Montreal Canadiens signed Alex Belzile (1 Year / $700,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>The whole point of having a farm team is to find players capable of breaking into the NHL.
I think you have already admitted he never will.
It's kind of a point blank situation don't you think?
There are guys out there who are 22+ years old, been playing hockey for a long time. They don't need a false idea of a "team leader" what they need is their chance.
Maybe they make it, maybe they don't. But you already know this guy really isn't going to make it. So why waste the time. And that's always been the point that I made clear from post 1.
No one really cares about willing the AHL memorial cup. Honestly, that's not why NHL teams fund the AHL.
They fund them to find and develop players to help at the NHL level. It's a very old way to look at AHL teams as having older vets now a days. Most teams are realizing this and the average age of a AHL level player is dropping, much like it is in the NHL. The games getting faster, more skilled etc...
There is no point hanging on to 27 year old players who won't make it. The only reason to bring them back is your scouting department couldn't find anyone else to come in and get an opportunity.</div></div>
Im not only talking about leadership, the teams need to win. We need some garentied ahl performer like every year to make the playoff and give real experience. Not by losing but making young kids play that they will get better. Look a the top ahl pts player last year. Very few are rookies.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>what an absolutely dumb comment on your part. Because you are hell bent on keeping older player that no one else "knows how things really work"
Just pure ignorance on your part.
The guy has been bouncing around between the ECHL and AHL for 7 years. If he was ever going to be a consistent NHL player he'd be there by now. Instead he might make it there if a ton of people get injured. Period. But you are hell bent on thinking that is a better choice than going after a potential young FA out of the NCAA or CHL or europe.
As if you need 27 year olds who have no real experience playing pro hockey and half the talent being the "mentor" to prospects.
It's a total waste of a roster space. There are more deserving people out there who could be given a chance. He's had his for 7 years. Time to step out the way.</div></div>
Honestly he was right, you absolutely need some veteran that can perform in the ahl. He will never comme in the Nhl for sure but he is a greaf exemple for the young guys and one of the best player in laval last year. The facts are that their is no more quality unsigned prospect and with the players we have under contract, we need to get 3-4 more players and even by doing that we will make some very low quality propect play like verbeek en waked. The best way to make our prospect progress in the ahl is by winning and juste young guys are not enough to win. Check every single ahl team, they all have some veteran ahl players.

If Poehling and Thompson compete for the same spot, that's not okay. Top 9 for Poehling or the AHL. 4th line for Thompson or the press box.</div></div>
And who do you take out of the center line in your top9? Domi with 72 pts? Danault being one of the best 2 way center we had since plek top seasons ? Or kotkaniemi with all the incredible potential?

Sure hughes has a big potential but is still not that big and except hall, their is nobody to surround him.

Letting Benn go? No point keeping him for depth with the options we have for the 3rd pairing. Only problem with our D is the lack of a legitimate top 4 LHD, and that isn't Benn.</div></div>
Don't think Mtl wants back Reilly back and don't think he wants to come back. Pretty sur he will be traded in a package deal or a minor trade. In the best world mtl will sign a top 4 offensive left handed D and you still have Mete en Kulak. Benn would be a got extra to have but im pretty sur after this season someone will over pay him and he will leave. Folin or Juulsen will problebly be the extra D.
And I know a guy like Gardiner will be overpaid but I prefer mtl overpay then keep the all that cap room again for a third year in a row.

Honestly I believe Mtl woule have a better chance with Colombus with either Murray or warenski since they might be losing many offensive player at the end of the year and they have a solide defense already.
We could even offer buying out Dubinsky from them.
Drouin+ Juulsen for Warenski and Dubinsky.

Brook is not at all ready for the Nhl yet and also regarding the trade, switch Lekhonen for Drouin et take off the 3rd round pick we receive from Phily and then maybe they will accepte, but even then it's a big maybe.

Well honestly, of all the highest salary he's the one that doesnt fit the system. Domi and him are skills players but domi has much more heart and intensity. So keeping both is not the best idea. Also keeping the same team is not a better idea since we might not even make the playoff. Puljujarvi could explode in mtl with kotkaniemi if not, any of our top rookies can take the spot. Signing duchene gives us an elite player that we could not afford without this deal. Any other way to get rid of so many contracts is by giving prospects and/or draft picks. I prefer keeping those, adding an other 2nd round draft pis, signing Duchene, putting domi on the wing, getting a top prospect (4th overall) by sacrificing Drouin. So its not juste the trade itself, its everything that will happen after.

5.5 drouin + 4.6 alzner + 2.3 weise =12.4 M for
6Lucic + 1.25 Pul = 7.25 and a 2nd round pick. So mtl saves 5.15M next year and can use that money to sign Duchene.

Pretty sure no one would take on a 6.8 mil cap hit with out sending a bad contract back. This way, they keep draft picks and or prospect by having 1 year of 2 bad contract so that afterwards they would only have 1 bad contract that is 2.2 mil cheaper then keasler.

Big contract move and using our cap room
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Kesler, just like Perry, has a NMC. Why would he waive to leave SoCal for Montreal? No to mention, buying him out would cost less than taking Alzner, then you add in Marleau (who also has a NMC of his own).</div></div>
First Marleau has only 1 year so after the first year, without the buying out anyone, alzner contract is cheaper then Kesler. Marleau would only accepte the first trade to mtl because the Gm would garrenty he would be moved again out west if possible. Kesler would accepte because I do believe he will think he will have a better chance to win with mtl then Ana.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jay27</b></div><div>Marleau has a full nmc and went to TOR to win. If the Leafs clear cap it won't be by moving Marleau.</div></div>
Toronto wont give him a choice. They knew all along the third year would be to much but they wanted him for the first 2 year. So it will either be buy out or trade and if mtl can promise him he will be moved out west after the trade, I think he would accept.

The reason Turris is in the trade is that Nashville would be able to resign Dushene afterwards. Thats why the price is so high cause it would not juste be a rental.
