Dahlin-Montour

Pilut-Miller
Bogo
I don't think Bogo is worth a scratch, so do you trade him? Pilut is 23 so he's done his time in the AHL.
Also, totally forgot to call up Olofsson before I hit submit. Do you scratch the 2015 all star? Send down Tage?</div></div>
Bogo will be injured for a while but when healthy yiu can trade him. Pilut has only 1 year in the AHL but hes ready for the NHL. Scratch Sobadka cause hes garbage

Barebones Ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheJoeMan</b></div><div>You're right, I disagree. I'm fine-ish with our forwards. I'd like to remove Ritchie and make room for Comtois and I think Sprong beats out Sherwood otherwise he needs to go. But we can't go with that as our D-core. Unless Larsson takes a huge jump, Guhle is actually good and Holzer suddenly transforms into an everyday, NHL d-man. We have a surplus of talented young forwards and there are teams with too many d-men. We need at least one top-4 RHD otherwise we're going to relying on Gibby big time again and I'd rather we didn't.</div></div>
I think moving Ritchie makes sense. Assuming he'd form part of a package for a quality top 4 RD like a Risto, Hamilton, Faulk, etc. I'd be game. However, I fear he'd only return a player like Colin Miller. Although better than our current situation, Miller doesn't stand out as a top 4 talent. More like a bottom pairing PP specialist.
In terms of Sprong, I think I hold onto him until we have a better idea of Kase's health. If Kase continues to get injured on a consistent basis, I would look to move him over Sprong. Kase brings more to the table than Sprong, but that's irrelevant if he can't stay healthy.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RinksideOps</b></div><div>No need to worry about the expansion draft. Getzlaf's contract ends, so they can just expose him and resign him after, and Kesler's contract changes to a modified NMC that year so he can also be exposed.</div></div>
Good shout. Didn't think about that. Thanks!

Not Panicking
I like the lineup, just think that you could have used the extra cap space to sign a decent backup goalie that can push for the number one spot. There are a few options available for under $2 million. Also could add a guy like Pirri cheap to put on the wing with RNH.

I think that it's a good possibility that the off-season looks like this. I would be talking about slightly different amounts, but then we'd be discussing speculations. I think other rational Leafs fans are going to agree with you, at least in principle.

Even other teams: Pasternak, Terry Krug
Also thinks Cirelli is a 1st liner and Stamkos is a 3rd liner, and players only want to come to Tampa because of Disney (which is in Orlando)

DUCKS
All three of those trades make the Ducks worse. We don't need to get rid of Kesler so badly that we'd have to trade away a first rounder, nor would that be worth it to Vancouver to carry that cap hit for six years. And Vancouver is just going to give us Tanev and Markstrom on top of that? Yikes.
I keep seeing so many trades with Shore and/or Rowney for a low-level draft pick. Why? These two are quality, value players. I mean if we HAVE to move them, which we don't, we better get better value for them. Rowney was one of the few bright spots this season. Shore was solid too. Good PKer, provided decent offense and makes less than 3 mil.
And I wouldn't trade Terry for Fox straight up, especially without a contract, let alone with Sherwood thrown in. And who's to say he'd even sign here? He's clearly a player who wants to choose where he goes and we are never a team that these players want to sign with.

Ducks 2019-2020 after Free-Agency No Trades
Terry won't be playing center in the NHL. He's a better RW. Also, Max Jones will be on the team as well. No reason to sign Chiasson or Lee.
The ducks want to get younger, not older. Shelling out $7 mil a year for a player who is about to be 30 in a little bit over a year is not what gets you younger.

2019-20 Cap Crunch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RinksideOps</b></div><div>Thank you for being smart enough to call up prospects (I haven't seen a lot of that on here), but I don't think you actually have to make all these moves. Send all but one young winger down because it's better for their development to play top line minutes in the AHL than to be scratched/on the 4th line in the NHL (Paquette did a good enough job to resign for that role), and it will save you about $2M in scratches. Benn is getting old, so I'd rather sign Rutta (who might even be cheaper).
If you do all that, you would have enough money to only have to move one $5-6M player. Although Callahan is the anchor contract, he only has one more year and they could get a pick instead of giving one away if they move someone like Gourde. He had a terrible back half of the year and Miller is a year younger and more versatile. I think one of the prospects will be ready to replace Gourde in the next few years anyway, so might as well get him out now while there is still value.
Let me know what you think!</div></div>
Thanks man I appreciate it. My thought process with Barre-Boulet, Verhaeghe & Raddysh was basically give them each a tryout and see which of the 2/3 fit best. After 12-15 games, send the odd man out to the AHL to play top line minutes and not stunt his development. That's actually a good call on Rutta. If you can get him for a similar price or like you said, cheaper, I 100% agree! In regards to Miller or Gourde, it was genuinely a 50/50 toss up as to who to trade haha, if they can get better value for Gourde I think that is the smarter move to make then. If they clear enough room to keep Callahan on the payroll that would obviously be best as well, since he only has a year left. Either way I think Tampa has a lot of good options!

Ducks have had a brutal year. People tend to forget how many injuries they have delt with. With this lineup you have tabled i could see the Ducks having some winning results. New coach new fresh systems and some young blood can go a long way to a team finding success. A complete rebuild isnt needed in ANH but its also clear the team needs to get faster. Its really not all that bad of a situation the Ducks are in

I agree with virtually everything you’ve said. They don’t need to rebuild to be competitive again. They’ve got the pieces. Getzlaf is still a solid number 1C if he gets re-engaged. Perry has 40 points last season and although he doesn’t look 100% confident with his knee quite yet he’s actually created a few chances and had a few of his own. I could see the ducks buying out Kesler but if they don’t re-sign silfverberg they will still have decent cap space and maybe finding a taker for the final season of Eaves would open up more. Henrique is underrated. He’s very good with his stick defensively has improved immensely on face offs since he first arrived and scores big goals. I don’t see him going anywhere unless the offer is just too good to say no. I haven’t seen what Steel has done lately but like you said he struggled early this season in both leagues. I could see him starting next year in the AHL tho. I think Terry and Jones are almost locks for the opening night rosters next season. Comtois’ first season as a pro in the AHL follows the Ducks development of most prospects. All that said this team needs to add a scorer. I’m fairly confident this team can get back to being a good defensive team but they’ve struggled to score. This season even worse than past and with a pretty deep fwd UFA group I could see them bringing in a piece or possibly 2.

Realistic Rebuild
I agree 100% with all of this. Hopefully Murray can get Kesler to go to Robidas Island, but they're nowhere close to as bad as they're showing. He clearly still loves playing, but also looks fairly beat up. Maybe even convince him to sit for the rest of the year, and see if you can get him back to even 80% for next year. If he can be an overpaid 3rd line center, and be somewhere close to the shutdown guy that they had pre-injury, it's not the worst thing.
Bring in a new coach with a new system and this team is miles ahead of where they are now. Plus, if they can pick in the top 5 or so, that's outstanding.
Silfverberg-wise, it'd be nice to get something for him. Some people around here think they can get a 1st for him, but even if you can get a 2nd and a project-prospect, that would be outstanding. Murray and the Ducks have a pretty solid draft record.
