<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KCarry74</b></div><div>because right now you do not respect the cap so you lose.
But honestly, don't you think it is bad to play without any scratches ? I mean as soon as an injury occurs, you play short staff ?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oiler3535</b></div><div>I just saw his reply with an honest question so I'll answer it: he doesn't realise that scratches cant be called out of the press box mid game. So the only time would have to play short handed would be if injury happened during warm ups. Even then, if a home game they could often have Marlies in the building so could dress quickly. Advantage of the Marlies being in the same city.</div></div>
Good point, worse comes to worse, you can just double shift players, and split the time on ice between players cycling through.

Unless Bracco absolutely lights the ahl on fire this year I see him as future trade bait. And it seems like the Goat might be a long term investment as the leafs 4c. He's been looking really good at camp.</div></div>
Gauts been on fire lately he looks like hes trying really hard. Him and Trev Moore are the most noticeable on the ice. They have bright futures ahead.

When Hyman and Dermy come back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>I am not so concerned about point production (other players can take care of that) than I am with exactly the second point you made about players (specifically turnovers). There are a couple other alternatives. I liked Justin Holl's play in Montreal last night. Giving him 22 minutes, I think it definitely helped his confidence. Harpur has been so-so, but I like his size. Does Harpur and Holl work as a temporary 3rd D pair? I'd obviously prefer Sandin, but I wouldn't want to rush his development, if in fact the Leafs felt he wasn't quite ready.</div></div>
Man if Holl can deliver the same kind of effort and hits like he did last game, I would definitely like to see him as part of the 3rd D pair. I wouldnt mind Harpur and Holl, I want to see how that plays out. Im kinda tired of seeing Marincin-Holl pair, it just doesnt work. Also agree with the sandin statement, I haven't seen him play that much but just hear some rumours that say hes ready and some that say hes not lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>Based on performance so far this preseason, I am not even sure Jordan Schmaltz makes this team. He would probably clear waivers though and be sent to the AHL, which is already pretty full on the back-end.</div></div>
Knowing he only has 5 points in 42 nhl games, I agree with what youre saying (it was brutal watching him give a horrible turnover to MTL last game) . Sandin would be my next choice if it wasnt him, i think hes ready to move up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goulet</b></div><div>In some markets the high QO makes sense but Toronto isn't one of those markets and the numbers being thrown around for Marner in this scenario are flat out ridiculous.
Werenski at 5M for 3 years is more valuable than Marner at 9-10M over the same term.</div></div>
Oh for sure I 100% agree. And I do feel like the Leafs have the upper hand in this situation. I believe Ferris is known for using the "playing in a different country" tactic when doing the Athanasiou contract

Kapanen has a great chance to step up during the start of the season. Also could be a possibility Bracco may see some games this year. Dw Marner will be signed 100% before the start of the season.
I could see also Dubas offering/ Marner accepting a bridge deal around 3-4 years structured by backloading the contract which he can get around 12.5 to 13M Qualifying offer. I know its a dumb amount but It I feel like this is the direction RFAs are highly considering.

I agree, also I'm tryna see Moore, Kerfoot and Kappy all on one line. Man that line would be flying across the ice.

Montreal Canadiens - Gardiner and Small Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Actually Gardiner just might be a nice one year fit for the Habs. Since he doesn't appear to getting offers, maybe overpaying him one year works well for both Gardiner and the Habs. Maybe 6.5m gets him.</div></div>
I heard per michael russo, he said that Gardiner pretty much has a deal in place with a team, they just need to clear cap space. I believe its Toronto, Buffalo and Jets. Logically, looks like the jets have cap (as of now considering the Laine/ Conner situation). only teams that would make sense out of the list is buffalo and toronto. although I dont see the Leafs being able to have enough with the marner situation. so buffalo looks like a potential destination. Also heard reports before that he would be willing to take a pay cut to stay in toronto. I would def love to see gards back in toronto hes a deserving player and doesn't get the appreciation he should get. If he does go to another team I wish him all the best.
