Heres What Jake Allen Is Really Worth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>Fluerys cap hit was 7million...? Allen had a few teams interested in him and they took the best offer. Hawks got a 2nd maybe even a 1st for Fluery at the deadline. not really the same imo Allen makes less than 3m..</div></div>
allen had a 4 million salary back then when he was traded. and even though a few teams were interested, st-louis had no leverage cause they needed to shed cap, same with fleury. all im trying to say is you cant compare the price you bought someone to guess their future price of a trade, because context matter so much. allen price is probably more than what it was even though is stats are worse, because his caphit is lower now and montreal have more leverage than st-louis had. (im not saying he will get a return close to what fleury got if he was traded though).

different situation. st-louis needed to shed cap. same.thing happened with fleury, was acquired for a echl players and tradeded for a second. its the same thing as allen.

Because they have Husso and Binnington.

Well that's false. You're comparing a 40 year old ECHL goalie to a 30 year old NHL 2G.

Who would you rather Ranger fans Rakell or Lehkonen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>Not so clear cut imo. Lehkonen is producing at a higher rate with an average of 4 minutes less ice time.
If you're hoping to get 24 year old Rakell and lock him up for cheap before he returns to 70 point production, maybe.</div></div>
We're talking simply skill and ability here. Lehkonen is putting up the best season of his career and its barely a 40 point season. Rakell has been producing 40 points on avg every year. Rakell is the better scoring player, that's not debatable but as we know there's more to winning than just scoring. So it really depends on what is needed more. Flat out offensive production or all round play. Each guy brings something different.

I think the price will be a little higher for Rakell than it will be for Lehkonen but I will say one thing, if you want to improve offensively, you easily go with Rakell. if you want to improve defensive play, you go with Lehkonen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RobbStark03</b></div><div>any first for Lehkonen would also be a late first. Lehkonen is RFA so they get his rights. He is arguably better than Coleman, definitely better than Goodrow, especially at that age.</div></div>
Still, a 1x$1.8M deal over RFA rights is worth more since Lehkonen wil likely sign for $3M+.

Chiarot = 1st, 3rd
Lehkonen = 1st, B prospect
Allen = havent seen a rumour yet. I wouldnt trade him for any less than a 2nd + B Prospect
Kravtsov and Lundqvist are 1st round picks, from 4 drafts ago. Lundqvist value is same or maybe slightly higher than a late first, Kravstov's value is lower + Russia situation right now.
Nemeth adds no value to Montreal
So arguably, the deal is missing value equivalent to 3rd, 2 B prospects</div></div>
i'm glad you said arguably because your above assessment is BEST case scenario.
3rd line wingers don't pull 1st round picks.
let's see how this one ages.

If Ken Holland could actually make those deals, they'd be done.
He won't because they clearly favour Edmonton.

Outside of the first half of the season, Petry has been a consistently strong 1/2 D-man for a long time now. Barrie has been an offense-only D-man that has to be carefully sheltered since his last season in Colorado.
And even if Petry was done, getting Barrie would make even less sense.

Pretty stupid comment. So because they have a overpaid player they should take on other overpaid players for no tangible return.

I really think Petry have way more value even with that contract. And like you said we have Petry at 6.5 why go get one more at 4.5.

let's break it down:
Chariot = ?
Lehkonen = ?
Allen = ?
Also, let's assume no retention, the Rangers don't need it.

Not so sure why people keep trading away Kravstov. First we all know about the situation in Russia. Second the Habs don’t have any need for a winger at the moment. They have Byron, Hoffman, Armia, Gallagher, Caufield, Drouin, and Pitlick (I assume they sign him back RFA) who all got term left after this season. that leave one spot that will likely be handed to either Harvey Pinard or Ylonen.

Montreal has no fit to acquire a RW in his mid-20's looking for a raise with Anderson, Gallagher, Caufield and Armia all signed long term, Ylonen being almost NHL ready and Roy being a good upcoming prospect.

No. No one has said that. While most Habs fans are delusional the common consensus is that we DO NOT want to move Lehkonen - if anyone wants him, they have to overpay for him. That is literally what this site is for.

A New Defense for Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Amazing the narrative you can build when you ignore many of these teams eliminating each other or the fact that even teams that make it deep and may or may not love analytics have great analytics.</div></div>
Amazing how you can take literal facts and spin them to your narrative ignoring what you JUST said. You said all the BEST teams love analytics. Not anything about top playoff performers having great analytics. That is NOT even close to the same thing. My point is that teams that use more traditional methods of building a roster still have 2/3 better odds of making the Stanley Cup Final than those who used analytics and that is just taking into account the 15 teams that made the last 5 conference finals. Playoff success has very little to do with using analytics to build your roster, in fact the opposite is true in that more successful playoff teams use traditional methods to build their rosters. It's fine to use analytics to help identify which players you want to have a closer look at but you still have to use some of the more traditional methods to evaluate those players. Some things like determination, strength on the puck, upper body strength, willingness to drive the net, checking, shotblocking, hockey IQ, positioning and balance among others can not be quantified in the analytics data. It's one of the main reasons why the NHL holds the combine and individual teams also hold their own.
