How much do you think Leafs needs to add to make this work?
Fwiw it is a 21-man roster with Kaliyev as the scratched guy.</div></div>
The Leafs are definitely in the need for some offensive restructure, as they are also stuck in a similar "1st round-exit-situation" like the Kings are. Maybe they are even moving some other big name, to have some more room for moves.
I think the Leafs would need to retain around 30% to make something work. You just gotta get Marner with some kind of extension, otherwiese its just too much to give up.
My fear is, that the Leafs are benefitting big tme from this deal by getting Byfield when he starts to be great and by getting PLD, who can easily bounce back.
Btw if Lizottes extension costs $2,5M, I think the Kings shall not do that. They need to keep it below $2M

Marner trade and waives for LA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PodGoalzin99</b></div><div>Thats fair i just feel like clarke and spence are similar type of players and that clarke has just a way higher ceiling and skill set and neither of them i feel would thrive in 3rd pairing roles and one of them likely not being PP, i think you just go with your future star D-Man in clarke and bring in a vet for that bottom pair</div></div>
I don't hate the idea of trading Spence but it would just suck to lose him. Its a similar situation as with Durzi last year, I cannot imagine that the Kings would do that once again just with Spence.
I think with Clarke's offenisve skillset, he at least will be in the 2nd PP unit. There will be an era after Doughty, so afterwards it would be great to have Clarke and Spence to work further with

Marner trade and waives for LA
I like the idea of the Marner deal, but to not re-sign Roy (which is likely happening and in my mind ok) and to let go Spence, is pretty risky.
I'd like to see the Kings RD with Dewy, Clarke and Spence next year.
If Ullmark decides to waive for LA this time, we should take him.

I'm not against to take Marner, but this is way too much to give up and in any case the Leafs would need to retain around 1/3 of the salary.
I like the idea with Tarasenko + the Panthers also will have to figure out how to extend some key players, therefore maybe he's going to be available, because he's not one of the key re-signing for FLA.
I don't like the third line very much and a 20 man roster is unreasonable

I think the Kings want to keep Akil Thomas, who is great with the Reign this year and performed above expectations in 7 games with the Kings towards the end of the season. I would assume that they want to play him next year on a full time role, possibly in a restructured 4th line

The marner trade is not happening, but I kind of like this idea.
Leave out the 1st round pick, retain at least 33% for Marner and the Kings might think to work out something

Really excited to see, what the AAV will be in the end of the day. You have good points, but I think he will cost the bruins $8M per season. Probably the Bruins also look to sign him for a maximum of 8 years instead of "just" 6

I'd like to see Ullmark with the Kings, but it's not going to happen. He reportedly declined a trade to the Kings / west coast before the trade deadline.
I think Swayman is in a very good position to ask for much more than that. Expect him to receive something in the Hellebuyck region, if not a bit more than that with the Cap rising by around $4m

Let's wait and see until the end of next season.
He had a pretty bad year - no question, but let's give him the chance to bounce back. If next year things don't look different, you're having a point.
let's not forget, that he mostly played 3rd line C with players like Jared Anderson-Dolan (not NHL level), Alex Laferriere (Rookie-season), Arthur Kaliyev (issue to perfom up to expecatations with the Kings) and was thrown across the roster.
You'd expect much more out of him in almost every part of the game and he has to deliver next year without a doubt, but let's be real, the chances that he would have put up at least 60+ points, centering the 2nd line with Fiala/Moore on the wings, is pretty big.
That being said, I'm excited to see, where we are in one year

They won't buy him out, Blake confirmed that a couple of days ago. Neither will they trade him, especially not for that return. LA will try to fit in PLD better and surely next year will have already another outcome

Pens
Turcotte for Jarry is just awful. Jarry is 30th in GAA, 30th in SV% and 28th in Wins in all goalies that played >= 25 games in the regular season
IF the Kings will go for a new goalie this offseason that has a contract in these spheres, the surely won't take Jarry's and whose contract the Pens probably look to dump.
The Kings better keep Turcotte, give him a full time job and hopefully he stays healthy.
I'd like to see the Kings to sign Alex Nedeljkovic when he becomes an UFA

LAK made clear that they want to keep PLD. Rob Blake stated there is zero interest in buying out his contract.
So why would LA retain in total almost $30m over 7 years, when this retention is even more expensive then the buyout and on top losing the player and additionally take on the contract of Kerfoot?
I don't see any sense in that.
Only because PLD had a rather bad season, he's not automatically for free.
I personally think he will bounce back next year at 2nd line C with some decent wingers and he will produce up to the expecations

They aren't trading Clarke and letting go Roy in the same time to the same team. That would be ridiculous.
Clarke is going to play his first full NHL season next year, Doughty already mentioned in his interview that he's looking forward to teach Clarke as good as possible.
So, I see Roy heading rather to Toronto or his hometown Detroit. But I'm pretty sure that he probably won't sign anywhere below $5,5m AAV.
Also, Moore isn't going back to Toronto. He's home now, signed a long term deal last year and is a fan favourite

Clarke is untouchable at that point. Also LAK couldn't afford to lose Clarke and Roy in the same time.
Roy will ask for something +/- $6m AAV for the same amount of years.
I'm not sure, that Marner would be the right fit for the Kings anyways, especially with an uncertain contract situation after next year...

KINGS
I think Trotz will not accept that and he has been having an outrageous asking price for Saros.
Saros definitely is an elite goalie, but the asking price would be more justifiable, if he was top 3 in the NHL in all categories.
But, for example his SV% (.906) is tied 24th, his GAA (2,86) is tied 26th among all goalies that played >25 games. Eventually, he has the most wins, while starting 64 times in the regular season (as often as no other goalie), but especially his SV% and GAA just don't justify the high asking price in my opinion.
He is definitely worth a 1st + NHL ready prospect (like Pinelli) + Kaliyev type caliber + maybe another 4th round pick. But honestly, that should do it. He will also ask for an extension that will be in the Hellebuyk region after next year.
Ultimately, I think he won't be moved before next season, because i don't see any team being willing to overpay

Improve these
I don't see that 3 team deal happening:
- Ullmark reportedly doesn't want to go to LA / West Coast
- Although moving PLD's contract would require additional pieces or also a retention, I don't see the Kings retain $14m in total... Kings better give him the chance to play a full season with two decent wingers and after next season we can see, if things didn't improve. The Kings are not in the desparate need to trade him as of
