I think him and Mayfield would be knocking heads every game, that pair would be brutal...lol...but honestly it's been a bit quiet, no rumors, nothing, which is a total Lou move.

He can still bang and grind though. He fought Martin twice last year and won. I'm not saying sign him long term, but I wouldn't be too bummed if he signed a one year league mininum contract, as long as Lou has a back up plan.

Has anyone heard anything from Charas camp? It's been eerily quiet. He hasn't announced his retirement which makes me jump to the conclusion that Lou's already locked him up.

Leddy was better, De Haan would be a down grade. There's a reason Lou let him walk in free agency.

Why Parise
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoreOfAnIslesGuy</b></div><div>Are we really in a "win now" situation? Barzal is 24, Beauvillier is 24, Wahlstrom is 21, Brock is 29, Pageau is 28, Pelech is 27, Pulock 26. Sorokin is also 26.
We have a year or two with these guys, so winning THIS YEAR isn't necessarily the goal. Wahlstrom isn't going to put up a 30 point season, anyway. I think he's more then capable of being a top-6 producer NOW, maybe moreso than Parise. Panik is a fine third guy; if we plan on throwing him away for a pick or something, I'd like to see Parise in his place. If we keep him, I don't see any real reason to sign Parise imo.</div></div>
We've come the closest to the cup we've ever been since 1984 these past 2 season. I'd say we're in win now mode. I don't think Lou's willing or ready to settle with 2 ECF appearances.

Lou's not going to roll with the kids in a win now situation, be thankful Dobson and Wahlstrom got playing time. If you want to see the kids play wait until the rebuild in a couple years. I'm not saying they don't deserve a chance! Lou's just not willing to take the risk of them not panning out this season, he's trying to win the cup. When they're ready they'll be ready.
As far as enough injury depth, you mean like Komarov on the first line?

What clues? You implied that because one team lost 2 years in row in the first round and the other team lost two years in a row in the ECF that these two guys should swap teams for a change of scenery. Why would a guy that's made it to the ECF two years in a row need a change of a scenery? I doubt he's disappointed and tired of losing.

Are you seriously comparing 2 1st round exits to 2 ECF exits?...lol..no man...just no, not even close.
The Islanders have already made changes in trading Leddy and letting Eberle go in the expansion draft. We're not going to give up another good player just "because".

I have to ask because lately it's been really annoying me. Who said the Islanders wanted Dermott? Yes we need a LD. I get that Leaf fans would think he's a good fit I'm not slamming that. BUT, for the past three years you've been trying to trade him to us. Every time there's a deal with the Islanders it has Dermott involved. I'm seriously wondering where this rumor came from in the first place.

What other guys? Their only major re-signing next year is Pulock and to a lesser degree Clutterbuck and Komarov if they even decide to bring them back. Even if they do bring them back they won't be getting 3 million + like they are now. Pageau seems pretty content in the 3C spot since all 4 lines get pretty much equal ice time anyways. And Beau's been a 2nd line LW with Nelson and Bailey for the past 3 years, so he's already a top 6 player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chooch</b></div><div>Your Tavares/traitor avatar defines your fanbase. People in St. Louis don’t hate Pietrangelo for choosing another team/city in free agency. Tarasenko deserves better than the Isles fanbase.</div></div>
I agree let another franchise over pay for a high risk target, you'll get no arguments from me as long as it's not the Islanders taking all the risks.
The Tavares situation was much. much different than the Pietrangelo situation. Tavares was constantly saying how much he loved it in New York and wanted to stay and even though the Islanders offered him the money he wanted. He still screwed them over and left the team.
The Pietrangelo situation with St.Louis was they didn't want to fork over the money he felt he was worth. That was the organizations fault not Pietrangelo's. Tavares should have handled the situation like Jones did in Columbus and told them he wanted out. At least the Islanders could have got something for him instead of nothing.

I hope he doesn't go to the Islanders as well, so at least we can agree on that. The only ones lusting after him are the ones still living in 2019 before the shoulder surgeries. I know he's a fan favorite in St. Louis, I get that but you need to tone down his worth. He's not worth what he used to be 2 years ago and you need to come to terms with that.

He'll likely reach 20 goals. I have doubts he'll ever see 30 again though. I could be wrong and he might but 3 shoulder surgeries and 34 games in 2 years makes me hesitant to believe he will. If that's the case than 6.5 million is still a lot of cap space for a 20 goal scorer one who might possibly be on the IR more than he's in the line up is a huge red flag. We might as well of just kept Eberle who was making 5.5 million. I doubt Komarov gets moved not because I don't think he should be but because he's a Barry and Lou favorite.

I agree. it's doubtful with his injury history. Nobody knows exactly how healthy he truly is and I'd say there's a good chance he's not the same player he once was. St. Louis will also likely retain more or find a 3rd team to retain.

I agree which makes me think he's the guy they're rolling with. Unless Lou has another plan in place. He honestly didn't play that badly in the games he did get in to. I personally still wouldn't trust him and think they should keep looking for a steadier d-man, but that's just my opinion.

Dobson happened. He was too young for Bridgeport and they felt like he wouldn't learn as much going back to juniors, so Hickey was moved to make room for him.

I'd love to see Salo get a shot at LD but I've got a feeling 2 to 3 weeks in the job will be Hickeys. In the 2 to 3 games he played last year he wasn't great but he wasn't terrible either. We all know how Barry and Lou love their vets. Unless Lou has something up his sleeve I'm beginning to think this may be the plan, since all the decent d-man have been taken already. The guys making 2.5 million he should earn his pay check anyways in my opinion.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go after a LD at all. I mean they've got Hickey, he's not all that bad really and they're paying him they may as well play him. If not him it'll likely be some over hill d-man that should have retired by now.

Hymans reportedly signed an 7 to 8 year 40 million dollar deal with Edmonton in a sign and trade with the Leafs. It's not official yet, but all signs point to yes. Not sure what Toronto's getting back. My guess is draft picks which they need badly.

Tarasenko could be a gem or a complete bust. I mean come on 3 shoulder surgeries? Which Tarasenko would they be getting the 30 to 40 goal scorer or Andrew Ladd 2.0? 6 million on a huge gamble is a bit risky in my opinion.
