Jersey side with Panthers

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rolfadinho</b></div><div>Florida accepts immediately. Does Bob waive for NJ is the bigger question.</div></div>
I prefaced this by New Jersey "WANTING TO GO FOR IT "
Did they over pay Palat to "just" make the playoffs?
So, if they wanted to go for it they would know they would need a great goaltending duo which would prompt THEM inquiring about Bob. I don't think they would initially offer a 1st but I think they would end up there. If Florida calls New Jersey then its totally different scenario.
bob wants to leave his mark in the NHL and wants a cup and he is still capable of being an elite goalie and with Luke Hughes coming this spring New Jersey's defense looks a lot better than Florida's.
however, Bob lives in the best state in the U.S. and if I were him I would never go to that socialist arm pit called New Jersey

Is it just me or did CGY win the trade
at first glance id say Calgary lost immensely in the Florida trade and that's because of the age difference between Matthew and Jonathan. Looking at the lineup you have above the Flames are significantly worse than last year. But back to your initial claim, only time will tell who won the trade but like I said looks like Florida may have the edge

Probably cup bound
Ill give you 5 stars for realizing that the flyers lack a true #1 center but unfortunately I have to take back those 5 stars for resigning the worst defensemen in the league in Keith Yandle. Even if your argument is you signed him for depth. Also our defense is very suspect. Deangelo looked great last year on a cup contender as a 2nd/3rd pairing, he will be exposed as a 1st pairing on this team.

Throwing it at the fan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReelBigFan</b></div><div>They are way too close to call it… this was Tyler’s best season, TK had a bad year thanks to AV limiting him to 9 points in the first 23 games or so… once AV was fired TK went something like 43 points in 56 games, which is not as good as Tyler’s 62 in 68, but TK did have to go through multiple different centres due to injuries and trades… think he played with 4 different centres this year.
So really their style and production are pretty close, but Tyler being a rental reduces the value for me… I wouldn’t do 1:1 currently without an extension lined up… even then I don’t get what the point is.</div></div>
Point is I think Bertuzzi has more value

Yes they are both good players but not worth Berniers. The only way Seattle trades Berniers to the Leafs is if Matthews is coming back

Fletchers aggressive retool

I guess you are right, they aren't making the playoffs next year so yes lets see what Frost can do. Could be other surprise like Desnoyers and perhaps Jackson Cates. But I respectfully disagree about Coots. I hope I'm wrong

Nothing about those 4 center men says "playoffs." Couts is second line and Hayes is a third line center. If you're going to retool at least bring in a number one center
Good trade with Leafs though

with a 3rd rd pick and only because Frost still has upside. Of course there are people who believe that Drouin has upside. But it might help both players. in fact I think Frost would flourish under Marty and benefit playing with either Caufield or Suzuki

By the time Gretzky was 25 his Oilers had already won a cup and lost a cup. Its not really fair for McDavid to live in that shadow as he will never be Gretzky. So yes this is a good trade and a fresh start for McDavid.

Deadline Giroux to Rangers

what you don't understand is that I made this trade in what I think the flyers would ask if the Rangers came calling. Do they hang up? Sure. But what if Larkin, Scheifele and Pavowski are all unavailable? Then perhaps the Rangers crave and give the Flyers what they want. Teams have been known to do this kind of deal. Would I do it? No way

Hayes deadline deal to boston
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>The whole, “ohhhhh but teams screw up first rounders so who cares,” is the stupidest line thats repeated on this site. It’s a first round pick. End of story.
Taking that gamble you referred to would be, “ya sure, we’ll take Kevin hayes off your hands for a 6th round pick.” A 1st is laughable. Notice how everyone on this thread has said what a horrible trade it is? Theres a reason for that. It would be like me making a Bruins ACGM with the Bruins offering debrusk and a 3rd for couturier. It’s just not something thats based in realism.</div></div>
that's because as fans of a certain team you can't be objective. if a buffalo acgm proposed that trade with Philly involving Risto everyone including me would have blasted that person unmercifully. But that trade actually happened. Why? Because the flyers were desperate to reach the playoffs. Boston is trying to win a cup and trading a first rd pick isn't going to stop them. People like you will be praising the trade after they win the cup and then in two years when Hayes sucks you'll be back at it again.

Deadline Giroux to Colo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>Why does COL need Giroux? MacKinnon’s tirade, bro you don’t know anything about the Avs if you think that’s the first time he has blown up about winning. COL is the top scoring team by quite a bit, they aren’t trading top end prospects for 34 yr old rentals that at best end up on the 2nd line.</div></div>
Holy cow all you guys take this so damn personally. Im not trying to hurt your team! I created scenarios where teams would presumably act desperate to put themselves over the top to win a cup. Why would they need Giroux. Added security!! Great on face-offs, can kill penalties, can do the power play, has tremendous work ethic, wants to win bad! Plus you don't think by adding someone like Giroux it gives a boost to Mackinnon? I may know nothing about the Avs but I do know they want to win and they want to win now

Hayes deadline deal to boston
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>How do you typo buying out a player? That’s actually a reasonably elaborate process.
I don’t think theres a single person that has said he wouldn’t be an upgrade. Coyle is playing better than Hayes this season, but i still think Hayes is better suited for a 2C duty today. But that’s being wildly simplistic.
Is Hayes a better option than the bruins currently have for 2C? Sure. Is he a good option for 2C? Probably not.
But lets pretend to just ignore that part, and move on to the next question.
Is the marginal upgrade provided by Kevin Hayes worth a first round pick? God no
Could that first round pick be used for a better upgrade? Absolutely.
But lets pretend we just ignore that one too.
Is taking on 5 years of soon to be 30, and already slowing down, kevin hayes for over $7M a good idea under any circumstances? God no.
Is kevin hayes worth a first round pick? Get outta here. Cap dump territory.
I can understand ignoring one question like that if the circumstances are right, but this is truly a horrific trade.</div></div>
Boston's window is closing and closing fast. would I do that deal if Im Boston? Hell no! I also wouldn't have traded Robert Haag, a first round pick and a second round pick to get Rasmus ristolinen but that's what the Flyers paid to get him because they want to make the playoffs. It comes down to (as it always does) does a team want to gamble on their future to win now? Most teams will and do. And you go on and on and on about that 1st rd pick, remember when Boston had three consecutive 1st rd picks in a row plus relatively low first round picks? do you recall that? How did that work out? And that's why you trade that pick to get Hayes.
