23-24 Preview Buffalo
I have hard time believing they have less points this year than last year.
Personally I put them right there fighting for 3rd Tampa and Boston should be declining, Florida is a weird team but will be up there. And personally I think buffalo is a good step ahead of Ottawa and detriot.
Barring injuries I would say this is the year they break the playoff curse

Farfetched - but not impossible
Sabres would be foolish to trade for another top dman.
Their improvements would be the middle to 3rd pair

You're delusional.
Fox's reign of being better than power lasts for 1 - 2 more years than power is better. Thompson is light-years more valuable than krieder.
And even if Levi never pans out goalies aren't that important. Plus I would rather not pay 6 mil for a goalie now and then be forced to pony up 8+ million.
I would find it hard to believe anyone would think that is better for buffalo.

Backlund at 34. Is not a realistic target. I'm not trading Krebs and a 2nd to make the playoffs. That's a trade you make to win a cup.
Timeline is off. I would rather hope Krebs becomes a Backlund rather than one year for an upgrade at 3c.

I could see buffalo trade at deadline. But I would imagine I'd Adams is dangling Krebs it'll be for a more immediate need like a goalie.
Laughton would help that 3rd line overall. But your reasoning was pretty flawed, you just named our 4th line and Greenway. However, Greenway was targeted by the coach and probably has more value to the team than what his value is around the league.
If throughout the year an addition is needed I could definitely see this trade happening.

Asking for an untouchable player like Connor, likely costs you one of your untouchable players.</div></div>
Less about a Connor being a rental and more about the philosophy of what to get in return for Connor.

What would say if this was a TDL deal and the Jets are looking at finishing bottom 8.
You think the Kickstart a rebuild or still look for a ready nhler.
Buffalo doesn't have a ton of ready nhlers for sale.
Tage tuch are basically untouchable. Skinner isn't on the same timeline. Cozens probably pretty close to untouchable. Quinn and JJP are probably in-between prospect and nhler. And olofsson is good but probably not the nhler Winnipeg would look for.

Gibson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Gibson makes a lot of sense for Buffalo IMO. Buffalo needs a guy who can shelter Levi by playing 50-60 games a year, rushing a goaltender is the #1 way to ruin their development. Gibson's also better than his save percentage has suggested over recent years, especially this one. Anaheim's defense was pretty bad over the previous couple years but this most recent season it was absolutely brutal. This year he faced on average nearly 40 shots a night which is insane, the puck pretty much never left his end of the ice.
While I do think it's a good fit for Buffalo I think the return is a bit off though</div></div>
I don't think there are many teams who can afford Gibson.
And it's public knowledge he wants out.
Anaheim is in a tough position and his value truly couldn't be any lower right now. I think the above package is a gift.
I think it's going to end up with a couple picks in the 2-4 range and probably taking a contract back.
But I could be surprised

I think regardless it's a massive overpay.
Goalies rarely return those types of assets, plus Ullmark had had one year as a goalie with above average stats and he happened to be playing for one of the best defensive teams to ever exist.
I love Ullmark but he is an average to slightly above average.

None of those pieces would be available and neither would 13OA.
Doesn't happen for goalies especially for 1 year rental goalies.
Before you say extension, Buffalo should not be interested in a high money long term contracts. So I don't think they would be interested in doing Hellys extension.

Oh the Canes have multiple prospects that project to be 25+ goal scorers and need a spot in the line up?
Ther AHL team is loaded with kids who are part of the rookies of the year team, and prospects who won best player at world juniors.
Stop saying that Buffalo is dumping olofsson. It's not true. They have too many good prospects who need spots.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>macca2119</b></div><div>I've said it once and I'll say it again, Olofsson is an complete and absolute dumpster fire on defense and the Avalanche would never ever ever never take him on, much less for assets. Show me one metric that has olofsson being a dumpster fire on defense.
Below average sure. But he has been torn to shreds on this site lately for no reason.
The fact that he is a 25+ goal scorer not playing top line minutes and not on PP1 would have others players lined up to get multiple picks. Don't know why there is so much hate going to olofsson.
The only reason he is being shopped is buffalo has similar quality players that are younger and need a spot in the lineup.
