What I think Adams will do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReelBigFan</b></div><div>Here’s the thing. Flyers don’t have to move Hart. He ais young, Hart is an RFA, we can get more watching him elsewhere and just taking the offer sheet comp… most likely gets between 8 and 8.5 a year… which Philly can match but it would probably be a sign and trade.
Philly holds the cards here my guy… his RFA value is built into the deal… it would be nothing short of asinine to assume Danny jumps to trade him for minimum return</div></div>
I do imagine hart stays with Philly.
I'm just saying goalies don't have that type of value never have and that's not switching now. All these trades with a lottery pick and a top prospect will never happen.
And not for nothing Hart's biggest attribute is his age. His stats have been league average. Who is trading a package for the 13th beat goalie.
If he does get traded it will be for 2 2nds. Maybe that's not enough and that's fine I don't think there is gonna be a line of people wanting to pay more than that.

Everyone laughed when I told them how much Provy would get. And everyone keeps laughing now and magically doesn’t mention how wrong they were about Provy.</div></div>
There are over pays that happen every year. And congrats that your over valuation worked for one trade!
But now take the outlier out of the pool, and you'll be left with the average.
Flyers are in spot where they are going to be doing a lot of deals to secure a new core. Some trades will be over value (prov) and some will be under, and some will be right at market value.
You can always shoot for the moon, but let's temper expectations and be reasonable when 30 other fan bases are telling you that you are asking too much. You can't always come back and say we'll prov got 2 1sts!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>dumba and ghost arent better. orlov will probably be re-signed if they move cap out.
With that kind of logic, we wouldnt have Levi or Kulich, when we "helped" Florida. Who cares if its in divison, if they have a player that makes them better at a deal that makes sense then they should be all over it.</div></div>
Agree to disagree.
We didn't help florida in the same way. It has less to do with trading within division than giving boston cap space to sign orlov (the better dman) and giving them a good draft pick to help retool their prospects.
The addition of grezlyck does not supersede the additions boston would be able to make with a trade like that.
If boaton wants to trade him for a 5th. Then sure. Otherwise there are plenty of options elsewhere for buffalo to get better.

Orlov, ghost, Dumba, to name a few.
And like I said even if it were a dman worse than Grez it would still be worth it to not help boston

I don't think buffalo wants to help bostons cap and give them a high pick.
Get just as an effective player in ufa or different trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>They are both the big Swiss army knifes on their respective blue line. Dahlin has the edge in offense, and Pesce has the edge in defense. Dahlin is a few years younger, yes, but overall impact they are about the same. If Buffalo isn’t willing to accept the 13OA pick for Dahlin, give me a reason why the Canes should accept the lowball offer of 13OA for Pesce? The Canes aren’t just going to give Pesce away.</div></div>
I don't think there is much of a conversation to be had if you are gonna sit here any say that pesce and dahlin are the same and have equal value.
Pesce is a great Dman and is getting an extra bump because a defensive defensemen are in high demand. But to compare to a 1OA who is already arguably a top 3 dman and could very well be the best dman in the league in the next 2 years to pesce is just complete biasness.
Canes are going to have to sell someone, most likely. And maybe that's not pesce but it's not a preposterous trade offer.

I would love an example of when an insider got a trade right besides when the deals are almost in place.
Whenever they speculate about potential trades they are never right. It's not the source I would use.
Instead find summer trades with players that have similar production/age/contract and see what was given up.
Very few trades have involved a lottery pick, a young NHLer who is a solid two-way middle sixer with potential to be a top 6 producing center. And a former lottery pick that is developing well.

this is a playoff team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ashleyschaeffer</b></div><div>i know we shouldn't spend assets like that on a goalie. we can spend money for a guy like hill or andersen for two years until it's levi's crease. or we can go with levi/UPL. UPL won 17 games last season with a funky schedule after being called up. if you tell these kids at the jump, we believe in you two, get ready in the offseason for a 50-30 split, they can handle it. and that allows us a ton of cap space this season. maybe timo meier doesn't want to sign long term and we trade for him because we can qualify him. maybe we do a high two-year offer sheet for a good young player. i just think there was too much growth from UPL to give up on him. if he stayed in the AHL and had a good run, we'd be calling him a good prospect. but because he played well enough to stay up and had ups and downs, we're lower on him? that doesn't make sense to me.</div></div>
I'm right there with you.
I wouldn't hate getting a proven guy like helly and know that next year you can also bank on a playoff appearance and a possible run.
But long term I would like to know what we have in UPL and would like to keep our 1st this year as it can turn into a top tier player.

More realistic trades for swayman then last time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>Well you see when we signed Ullmark, swayman was a rookie and rask had a high chance of not returning so of course we were gonna sign a vet goalie to help him. We knew Ullmark was good but did we expect him to become a Vezina nominee. No we didn’t, yes Swayman has his kinks but he is a great goalie and is only 24 it just sucks for him that a guy also in his spot was Arguably the best goalie this year.
Use your head and do your research before talking.
Funny how you make it seem like swayman doesn’t play much lol considering since we signed Ullmark, swayman still has started 47% of the games.
He was even the better goalie in 21-22</div></div>
I am well aware of both swayman game log from both years.
I am just poking holes in your argument.
And as a buffalo fan I watched a lot of Ullmark, love him and I think he's good. But him being a Veinza goalie kinda proves everyone's point, that the goalies in bostons system are skewed to being better than they actually are. Boston is by far the best defensive in the league and it boosts their stats.
You've brought GSAx but a pretty logical explanation for their increased GSAx is a smaller sample size.
If boston is only giving up 4 quality chances a night then their goalie making 4/4 saves boosts their gsax. Compare that to a goalie like merzilikens who faced 10 quality chances a night and went 7/10 dropping is gsax.
Numbers start the story but don't totally explain it, there is still a large subjective matter when it comes to sports analytics.

And if you want to comment on this rebuild why would buffalo ruin everything they've built for an average goalie.

He didn't even start for Boston this year lmao.
He is not a guaranteed starter, look at binnington took the league by storm and now is not even above replacement level.
Goalies don't carry that type of value.
