Olofsson had about a 1.5 month stretch with a hurt wrist. Look at his stats before and after that stint.
Before and after he was hovering around a point per game.
During that injured stretch it was about .1 per game .. brutal stuff.
For Myers insiders can say what they want. The only thing that he is good at is being big. Everything else he has a negative impact on

Congrats on having more points while olofsson was hurt for about half the year.
By all means don't dump Myers but he is a negative asset

At worst Dahlin = Hughes but I would say Dahlin edges out Hughes.
And olofsson>>>>> Myers and Dipietro.
Very bad for buffalo

Garland and olofsson are pretty even.
Myers is a black hole of despair and bad Cap.
So I can't see how Van would decline and buffalo would accept

Olofsson is 27, probs will be entering his 30s by the time the sabers are real contenders. Fiala is miles better than olofsson and it cost a 1st and a prospect to acquire him, if anything, im being generous with olofsson.
The UPL deal is fine considering hes 23 and was once thought to be elite talent. Gives him two years at a cheap deal to prove himself, not like the cap is an issue for buffalo at the moment.
"Goes out of the way to make the team worse". Isnt that kind of the point? Like I said, sabers won't be contending anytime soon. Especially within the Atlantic division. You don't know your team as well as you think.</div></div>
I'll bet you sabres make the playoffs before the isles do

Probably realistic but would be disappointed with no JJ.
Also imo I would switch Krebs/mitts with Olofsson.
Olofsson and Quinn on one line gives you to snipers with nobody to set them up

I hear big pay day and we can't afford him and it really makes me think do I really want to spend a 2nd for a situation like that.
Seems like buf would have a bit of bargaining power in that negotiation.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>How is that similar? Girard is locked up for half a decade younger and higher production. Now I get why BUF wouldn’t be interested with Power and Dahlin but Girard’s value is significantly higher than the CF community wants to give him credit for. What are the most desirable traits for a young dman in the NHL now? Being able to move the puck, strong skating, defensive acumen and size are at the top of the list, Girard has 3 of those and arguably the 3 most important. It isn’t Girard’s fault and no reflection of his value that COL got a generational dman in Makar who blocked his path to being the qb of PP1.</div></div>
Similar as in young Dman in a cap strapped situation. Girard might have more but I truly can't see it being that much higher than Toews

Let’s not rewrite history because at the time Toews was traded he wasn’t better than Girard he just blossomed in COL.</div></div>

Yeah I agree with you there. Probably easier to move those other contracts.
But I don't think a trade like Girard for 2 2nds is crazy easier. Toews is a better dman and that's what he went for. So there is a precedent sent

That's really the thing tho. Buffalo doesn't need Girard. If this move were to happen it would because Colrado is moving out some cap for Kadri. So that would be the real prize of the trade and they add some draft capital.
They could possibly get more elsewhere but if they sign Kadri 1st teams will pounce on the cap trouble and Girard gets less, or they wait to move him first hit risk missing out on Kadri.
So I guess it depends on what Colorado thinks is best for the season coming up

Down the road
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tdobes3</b></div><div>He might be a bust, but considering half the ACGM’s this year have had their teams acquiring him I think that fan bases actually want him. And a dumpster fire franchise like the Sabres could really use some help.
Bouch is just a bridge deal, term might be a year too long but they need to bridge him even though they really shouldn’t. They’ll get stuck with another Nurse contract after bridging him.</div></div>
Not a bust, haven't lived up to potential, kind of in no man's land as a young player right now. Is a 2nd a fair price for him, for sure.
Sabres just have no room. They have about 6-9 players that all fit in that realm. Pretty good, can be great. But who knows.
In all honesty not much different between oilers and sabres. Outside of the elite talent.
If Edmonton and buffalo switched divisions. Might be having totally different conversations. Not that Buffalo was built all that well but they did have some really nice pieces. Id argue that edmonton is not built well at all, they have just been fortunate to draft the best player hockey has ever seen, and made a great choice in drai who turned to be top 5/10. But if buf made the playoffs then who knows the direction things would have gone.
But when you're on the Atlantic there has been boston and Tampa who have dominated the past 10 years, then interchanged Montreal Toronto Florida. Now there is a big 4. Makes making the playoffs pretty tricky. Whereas nobody has been that good in the pacific. The kings for a period, you could argue SJ but doesn't quite match the same fire power the Atlantic has had.
