San Jose ain't got anything. And it's 3 wings and a D.

Because I said all that. I simply pointed out that this team as constructed by the poster is not a salary cap compliant team come opening night.

This team while under the cap...is not salary cap compliant. There's a bonus cushion youre over on. Meaning a team can exceed the cap by 7.5% for potential bonuses. A team can only have 6.1 million of potential bonuses on the roster if they use up cap space.
Also, what everyone forgets is Quenneville....a PPG AHL player must pass through waivers to not be on the opening night roster.

Hawks opening day
Nothing is even close on this. Any of it. None of the lines. None of the D pairings. Not even goalie.
Even if Crawford were to go on LTIR, they don't need Brian Elliott.
You're putting WAAAAYYYY too much emphasis on balanced defenseman. Gus will be 1rd.
Boqvist will be in Rockford.
If Dach is here, it won't be at 3c. It'll be a top 6 wing role.

What I think these RFAs should sign for
If it weren't for this last year id agree with the Laine deal. Winnipeg might do it, but I wouldn't. Probably a little high on Marner.
Serious question, why is McAvoy even an RFA? Shouldn't that contract have slid a year?

Playoff hockey
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Did you watch any of the games? He was much much better on that line than Sikura...</div></div>
Not saying he wasnt. But less than a .5 PPG player when your linemates are both PPG players is telling. He's an ideal 3rd line player and there's nothing wrong with that. You need those types.
Personally I'd like to see Kubalik with 19/88. The guy has a really good shot. I'd like to see Dach play wing and split draws with Strome if he's here. If he's not I'd like Saad as 2rw.
3rd line having Shaw and Smith Splitting draws with either Caggiula or Saad.
This team suddenly got really deep at forward. Saarela, Quenneville, Nylander. Reese Johnson I think probably plays more center than wing. New was 65% at the dot and had the 2nd most draws in the WHL.

Really good is drastically overstating things. I'll use the same argument I use with Sikura apologists. Look at his linemates stats. Then look at his.

That's funny because Saarela was originally a Rangers pick. And Kampf is no longer a prospect. Just don't think the Hawks have a need for Kreider.
You forgot Kubalik. Stan has already said he's essentially on the team already. Wouldn't surprise me if he's on the top line.

And you realize he was never actually sent to the minors right? He was placed on waivers but never played a game there. What sandpaper does this team have? Shaw... I wouldn't put Saad or Caggiula in that category Smith brings. Plus he's actually good at faceoffs. Dach was barely 40% in junior. Why would you play a kid you want to develop 3rd line minutes. Go back and dominate and improve your weakness. Or play top 6 minutes here. He shouldn't play bottom 6

Pulujarvi Trade
I've thrown that trade out a few times. I'm for it. Sikura does nothing for me. Perlini skates fast and has a nice shot. But he floats. He waits for the puck to pop out from the blue line then he's able to outskate and score.

There are 5 teams with 10m in cap space as we sit here right now. Of those, one of them has to sign Raantanen. One of them is the Jets. One needs to sign Werenski. The Senators need to sign Colin White. Do you really think that cheapskate owner is gonna pony up anyway? Flyers need to resign Konecny and Provorov. Wild are 9.4 above. But need to sign Fiala.
Laine has no leverage.
