<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RUSProspects</b></div><div>On the Canadiens reserve list (https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/reserve-list/canadiens) Daniil Sobolev has rights expiry date set for 2025, yet apparently it doesn't take into account that he was drafted out of the CHL: he was signed by OHL's Windsor Spitfires before the 2020/21 season (it is reflected on his eliteprospects page: https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/588569/daniil-sobolev), but no games were held there due to COVID. Still in 2021 he was drafted, so, if I understand correctly, as for every CHL player his rights should expire in two years after that, so on Jun. 1, 2023.</div></div>
From our understanding, he was drafted as a non-North American player and then played in North America. Therefore his expiry will be listed as Jun 1, 2025.

Good catch on Weiss, your'e correct.
Would you be able to provide a source for Case McCathy?

Cap Errors Megathread
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RUSProspects</b></div><div>Hi!
Not exactly a cap error, but I think CapFriendly doesn't correctly count player right expiration ("Must sign by" in the reserve list page) for NHL RFAs, who are playing in the KHL currently. For these cases CapFriendly has "INDEFINITE", which totally doesn't sound correct to me, as there were examples of right expiration for players of this category: Evgeni Dadonov's rights belonged to Hurricanes (after his ELC ended) until those expired while he was playing in the KHL and he was able to sign with Panthers in 2017 without them trading for his rights. Same situation was with Viktor Tikhonov's rights, which belonged to Coyotes, but he was able to sign with Blackhawks in 2015.
If I understand correctly, "INDEFINITE" right expiry is the case only for unsigned draft picks (e.g. in cases when no ELC was signed at all), who are playing in the KHL (and NLA, since they also didn't have a transfer agreement with the NHL last time I checked) and not for RFAs, who are playing there after the end of ELC contract, as for them it is the same thing as usual - they become UFAs in the NHL if they are 27 by the 1st of July.</div></div>
Thanks RUSProspecs,
This has now been updated to show the 27 year old date expiry's on the reserve list.

Even if a player is older then 27, the team will keep the players rights.

Nature of Transfer Agreement between NHL and Swiss Leagues
Fabrice Herzog played in North America and his 4 yrs would of started. It has been reported as well the Leafs have lost his rights after June 1.
Elvis Merzļikins and Gregory Hofmann have never been to North America, the NLA doesn't have a transfer agreement with the NHL. Which makes the player indefinite.
Regarding must sign by dates, this is based off of our current understanding and there may be more details that we havent yet uncovered
