Moving Contracts
Why do we need to move Laine at all? I do not see the point at all, let alone spending nearly nine million in retention to do so.

Laine is being valued as a near-PPG top line scoring winger; the Jackets are under no pressure to move him so there's no reason to do otherwise. One can presume that you would agree with such an evaluation since you've put him on your top line. Do you really think two depth forwards and a 2nd will get you a near-PPG top line scoring winger, with full retention so he's only $4m/year?
No. Hell no. Not even remotely close.

It does. Trade can't happen until June 6th, but after that there's no restrictions.

Trade includes Armia; trade fails. We're not selling low on Laine, or trading him for quantity.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SK101</b></div><div>Middle of nowhere? Undesirable place? What are you talking about? Clearly you’ve never been to Columbus lol. You add nothing of value and just constantly speculate and wildly overvalue your own players. Have a nice day</div></div>
Also hating your team isn't a condition to get into the player assistance program. Its based on mental and behavior health issues (ie substance abuse) and required union physicians to accept the claim. Remember Texier wanted to come back last season but the union said no. If Laine was truly unhappy then the two parties would meet for a mutual termination agreement but obviously that's not the case.

Rossi Laine and Pesce
Rossi is gonna cost Lapierre or McMichael plus. Would rather not make that move in that case. Columbus's asking price for Laine is going to be higher than what anyone would be willing to or should pay for him. They wouldn't take this deal but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable watching the caps give up more. It's probably better to go after a guy like Reinhart, Duchene, Guentzel, etc. in free agency than spend the assets for a question mark. I like the Pesce add.

The Return of the King
It’s funny how Marner is only worth Seth Jones, an average prospect, and a late first when the Blackhawks are trading for him (and with a good, young NHL RD also coming to the Hawks). But then he is suddenly worth a good prospect and a top 5 pick when you flip him the the Blue Jackets.

The Return of the King
Marner is worth that to Columbus but Chicago somehow manages to get him for a late 1st and also hands off the worst contract in the game. Thats capfriendly logic, just not being a leaf triples ones value.

Why not add 4th OA to that Mangiapane proposal too? It would be just as likely the Jackets would accept.

If Savard is playing anything resembling competent hockey throughout the first half of the season you could probably get a 2nd round pick out of a team looking to make a run.

Let me guess...this trade showed up on that one MTL Canadiens fan-cast that called that one trade that one time and keeps insisting the rest of the league should feel honored to want to trade for Anderson?

Oh so all the reasons Columbus would rather have him than Armia? Because he's better? Because the potential is there? Because he'll probably score more than 6 goals if he plays more than 18 games?
You guys don't even make sense anymore. You just say **** to say **** and hope one of the thoughts makes sense.

Next Year
Nashville is probably making the 2nd a 1st and adding a forward prospect before that gets serious consideration.
Columbus declines, not on value but on team need. We'd rather just have a 1st, or a 2nd+3rd, or something along those lines. We've got plenty of young, undersized RD and wingers.

Honestly, I'd rather just keep Sillinger. I don't see Necas as adding much that we're not already in the process of developing, and I don't see him aiding significantly in that development.
...also, how in the heck do you manage to have Laine and Brindley at center but Jenner and Voronkov on the wings? Or Voronkov on the fourth line? And where the heck is Texier?

Wingin it
Oooh, a novel team wanting Boone Jenner. Still Atlantic division, though, which is interesting. It's usually just Buffalo and Toronto fans who are obsessed with him.
Columbus declines. Not because the value isn't there, but because every single person from ownership to the player himself have said he is not available. Period. You know how the Illitches feel about Larkin? That's how the McConnells feel about Jenner. It's just not going to happen.

Pens All or nothing for Sid
At this point it should basically be a given that anything involving Rakell to the Jackets is an automatic decline. There's no need or desire for him here; he doesn't produce enough to do anything useful above and beyond the umpteen billion wingers already here, and that contract AAV and term is far too excessive.
