Hedgers Perfect Summer
I don’t think there will be many changes next year other than jiricek, mateychuk, and svozil fighting for roster spots. I could potentially see laine, Kent Johnson, and provorov traded in the off-season although laine and Kent’s value are very low at this point. They probably need to find another top 6 center. If they draft lindstrom they might just wait to see who takes that spot in the future between Voronkov, sillinger, or lindstrom. Will be interesting to see who they draft this year. Wouldn’t mind levshunov, lindstrom, or eiserman.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Ehh Edvinsson absolutely has the ceiling to be as good as Werenski is. And as noted, Werenski has missed like 150 games over the last five seasons. "When healthy" is a rather sizable condition.</div></div>
I think you are underrating werenski. His even strength point production is behind Hughes, Hedman, and Makar. If the jackets didn’t have the worst PP in the league he’d be getting Norris votes this year even with missing some games. His defensive analytics are great as well. He’s a legit 1D. He’s a +4 playing top minutes on one of the worst teams in the league with some of the hardest deployment out of any defenseman in the entire league.

Werenski is the best player on the jackets when healthy and it’s not really close. Neither of those guys have the ceiling to be what werenski is. He’s still young enough that he will still be good when the jackets are ready to compete so there’s no need to trade him.

CBJ Whats the price
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>I mean, I'd largely take Campbell's resume over, or at worst, near equal to Elvis', minus the past season+ in EDM (which, to be fair, is an excuse I've heard about Elvis's last season+ with CBJ). Elvis runs with a 3.76 GAA, and a .889 s% (66 GP), to Jack's 3.96 and .881 s% (41 GP) over the same period; and, 3.17 to .905 for Elvis to 2.76 and .909 for Jack for their careers.
A smaller cap hit, $4.5M saved in actual cash, only a two-year age difference, a not-pissy attitude, <a href="https://theathletic.com/5156505/2023/12/22/elvis-merzlikins-tom-wilson-blue-jackets/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">and a locker room that hasn't gotten tired of the antics.</a>. I also imagine no NTC concerns, since both players would likely welcome exits out of their current situation. EDM situation is similar - nobody is paying for that contract, not sure EDM (in a win-now situation) wants to give up trade assets just to sell him to AZ, and worst case, you're getting ****ed in a buy-out or having to bury him regardless. Maybe there is an asset or two on the fringe, but it just feels like it makes sense a la the ol'd Horton-for-Clarkson trading of headaches.
I also just really don't believe there is the kind of market for Elvis that some people think there is, unless you want it to hurt. If it was as easy as "trade him for future considerations," or put him on waivers, then you would've seen it happen already, most likely.
But I also get it - JD said no big moves, and I want Jet to be in the AHL as long as he is waivers exempt.</div></div>
Nah that’s terrible asset management. Campbell looked good behind one of the best defenses in the league in Toronto. Elvis has been behind a bottom 5 defense in the league the past few years. That’s the difference. Campbell isn’t even an nhl caliber goalie right now and Elvis is at least average. The rumored price to take on Campbell is two firsts. If jarmo were still here and made that trade it would be the worst trade of his career. Jackets can retain the same amount a Campbell buy out would cost and get an actual asset back

CBJ Whats the price
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>In a vacuum, its probably at or near FMV. I'd still want to at least get a 1st for Laine if we consider moving him.
The issue is we cant really move on from Elvis unless we have a back-up plan at G. Tarry has been on a good run, but he's had a lot of injuries that keep seeming to set him back, and I'd prefer Jet Greaves get another year in CLE.
My feeling is still Elvis for Campbell, 1-for-1. Mutual interest on reclamation projects, CBJ save a good chunk of actual dollars, and if it still doesnt work out, we at least know he'll clear waivers. Otherwise, I'm just not sure I'd want CBJ to pay the price to move Elvis, who has looked markedly better this year, but markedly better still amounts to mediocre.</div></div>
If Whoever the new GM who gets hired swaps Campbell for Elvis should immediately get fired

Levshunov is probably going top 3. Right now the sens have a 15% at a top 3 pick. They aren’t trading it if they get 1OA so right now they have maybe an 8% shot at levshunov. No way the sens can get levshunov with their pick

He has an extremely high ceiling just needs to work on his skating during the off-season. You wouldn’t trade Sanderson before last season for the 6th pick would you?

Jackets decline. They don’t need chychrun and can’t afford to extend him. If they trade Jenner it’s most likely for futures. RHD is the jackets biggest need so trading their best prospect there doesn’t make sense. Then they have to take one with the sens pick and hope they turn out as good as jiricek and wait for them to develop.
